QUOTE(Apscen @ Feb 11 2012, 08:26 PM) well, orijen gives my two MSes red spots all over. Different dog = different food i suppose.Been feeding them this fish4dogs thing for a while but am thinking of changing their diet but it's been ages since I was 'active' in the doggier forums (back when I was, Orijen was 'king') so am wondering if there are any newer kibble in the market that comes highly recommended? TQ. |

Hi all, i don't know whether it has been discussed, due to slow internet, i'd just have a quick question... What do you guys think about ANF dog food? Is it suitable for a 3 to 4 months poodle? Thank you!

QUOTE(madmoz @ Feb 13 2012, 09:38 AM) well, orijen gives my two MSes red spots all over. Different dog = different food i suppose. My rottie didn't do well with the Orijen 6 fish because of the high protein content (she's just 6 and half months old). Also I find that lamb and rice seems to work wonders on dogs with sensitive stomachs. Orijen is still considered a 6 star brand but some dogs might not be able to tolerate it because of how rich their ingredients are. You may try their sister brand Acana as an alternative. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Or other good brands to consider are Canidae, Innova, Nature's Variety: Instinct & Prairie, Wellness or Wellness Core, Solid Gold, California Naturals.Been feeding them this fish4dogs thing for a while but am thinking of changing their diet but it's been ages since I was 'active' in the doggier forums (back when I was, Orijen was 'king') so am wondering if there are any newer kibble in the market that comes highly recommended? Hi, I have a 5 month old toy poodle.
Now I feeding him Eukanuba and I know this brand is not good for ANY Dog ! This brand is recommanded by the breeder and I now gonna change the dog food. Im now considering TOTW lamb formula for him. Can I know is this suitable for him? or TOTW duck formula? Thanks. |

QUOTE(sherlynwen @ Apr 2 2012, 11:10 PM) Hi, I have a 5 month old toy poodle. Best is to get small bag or sample & let your poodle try see if he likes it or not. Also keep an eye out on the stools to see if it agrees with him =D Cos even Orijen which is one of the top grade kibble also not suitable for some dogs as they all have individual needs. Now I feeding him Eukanuba and I know this brand is not good for ANY Dog ! Just would like to share quotes from Jesse Dallas, author of "Pets Need Wholesome Food Also" and "What's New PussyCat" plus a link regarding wholesome homemade pet food; "If you really apply some common sense analysis of commercial pet foods, then you are going to begin to notice that in many ways, commercial pet foods are not healthy for our pets and are in fact, no different than fast food diets for humans. Commercial pet foods are killing our pets. I know that some will find this to be a harsh statement, but for those that have suffered the pain of a sick pet, then this statement is anything but harsh and in fact, can be more of an understatement." ~=~ "Feeding a wholesome raw meat diet makes sense to me because I prefer not to focus on the word raw but rather on the word wholesome. Nobody can deny that our pets, just as we humans, need wholesome foods for good health. For some, they will think that commercial pet foods constitute a wholesome diet and that's fair enough. To each their own. But for myself (and hopefully for you too), if we meditate on what constitutes a wholesome diet then our thoughts should lead us to a diet that most closely imitates and resembles what Mother Nature herself would feed." ~=~ "Sad to say, some people just see a pet as a pet and not as living being that requires wholesome foods. It's always difficult for those of us that realize that, as pet guardians, we have a responsibility to treat our pets with love in every way including the food we feed them. I am often asked how can we change those that feed unhealthy pet foods? I always tell people that we should not try to change or convince others, but rather we should be a shining example. When you shine bright your light will eventually guide others too." ~=~ "Hopefully, like me, after learning about wholesome homemade pet food and the benefits of wholesome nutrition, you too will realize the insanity of feeding the enzyme depleted and nutritionally inadequate foods made from overly processed ingredients that a carnivore would never eat in the wild known as commercial pet food" ~=~ Homemade Pet Food -- Holistic Health Care Information For Dog and Cats -- Natural Pet Food Please do visit the link and spare some time to read the extremely informative articles and a hassle free guide to natural homemade pet food (totally 100% free to read) for the sake of our beloved furry friends This post has been edited by Fitrah: Apr 18 2012, 09:07 PM |

QUOTE(madmoz @ Feb 13 2012, 09:38 AM) well, orijen gives my two MSes red spots all over. Different dog = different food i suppose. those red spots are most likely hot spots.. means ur dog is allergic to high protien because orijen protien is super high.. try food like natural balance limited ingredients.. Natral balance is best for skin problems. I did a side-by-side comparison between Blackwood (chicken) and Natural Balance by putting both into same tray. My GR actually ate up all the Blackwood first and struggled with the remaining NB.
But since Acana is recommended, I will try that first. BTW where did u buy yours and how cheap is cheap? QUOTE(Apscen @ Feb 4 2012, 01:25 AM) Just swift to Acana for my golden, what a good n cheap food, my dog skin problem has improved also Thanks for the website. Seems like Acana is highly rated on that website. I am using Acana Pacifica but notice that my dog sheds a lot. Be it Acana or Orijen Six Fish. The shop told me it could be the high protein in this brand that cause my dog sheds a lot. Hmmm
After my 13.5kg Acana finish, am going to try California Natural Grain Free range. |

Has anyone tried Taste of the Wild brand dog food??
I bought a bag of 6kg+ from my vet 2 weeks back, both my girls loved it, but I'm not sure how good it is though their stool became very much lesser ( was feeding on arden grange chicken, then changed to Go! duck cuz vet ran out of AG that time..). I'm considering to put both my girls on Taste of the Wild, need some advice here.. I would also like to know whether it is ok or not to put my dogs on Orijen 6 fish & Taste of the Wild, mixed? I bought a big bag of Orijen as gift to my cousin's dog but didnt manage to pass to her ( her dog died on 428 evening *sob*).. I now have 1 big bag of Orijen at home, 13kg+ and another bag of Taste of the Wild two-third left.. This post has been edited by blackright: Apr 30 2012, 05:28 PM |

I bought the Roast duck 1,but the pet shop i went to only have small packs and it's quite pricey. they didnt have much stock also,so i stop getting that 1 anymore. No harm mixing the kibbles i guess. I mixed rice+chicken+potatoes+kibbles for my dog sometimes |

Though this Taste of the Wild brand quite affordable actually, was quoted roughly around rm200 for that 13.6kg roast duck with another 20% off I bought the Roast duck 1,but the pet shop i went to only have small packs and it's quite pricey. they didnt have much stock also,so i stop getting that 1 anymore. Rm200 per pack would kill me~ LOLnow i cook for my dog to put some weight on her weight. Homemade dog food are healthier and save more $$,and most importantly she loves it! She prefer having rice than kibbles~ so im cooking for her rice+potatoes+chicken~ |

Which shop you went to?The other place I saw marked totw at 200+, no DC And there's no harm to mix though I'd suggest you feed your girls orijen separately first to see if they like/accept it. Then when you mix you might want to mix more totw compare to orijen as orijen have a high protein content. |
