ya, i think divers will appreciate perhentian more as it gets really quiet after dinner as there isn't any activities. Well for my group it was alright cos we can just play games ourself all night long.

if go as couple and one doesn't know how to dive, then it will be really boring biggrin.gif

anyway i don't know how to swim but thanks to the resort girl who 'trained' me i can snorkel with no problem thumbup.gif
*
This a part main of reason why lots foreigner tourist come to Perhentian Island every year. nod.gif

Is it gonna be more expensiv on May1-2-3 ?
Planning about it but worried that its peason season charge is over-priced.
Anyone have the price-range for that dates?
*
For Redang trips would be too much surcharge weekend and public holiday ,please avoid to come Redang on 1-2-3 May.Most package at Perhentian Island would be good choice and still reasonable rates.

What is the difference between Pulau Perhentian Kecil and Pulau Perhentian Besar? biggrin.gif

Why do my friends ask me to go to Pulau Perhentian Kecil?

And what is the budget and comfortable resort to stay in these islands?
*
Perhentian Kecil..its small island..its take 5-10 minutes to Perhentian Besar. There you can visit the fisherman village..have school ,grocery ,jetty and small clinic for local. Most fisherman boat will parking near the village .The main jobs local as fisherman, tourist guide and resort/Chalet owner. But here..there no chalet or resort. The most beautiful beaches are Pasir Panjang...its take 15 minutes from the village. Here lots chalet and resort offering higher rates and lowest rates ..minimum RM50-RM60 per night..most their customer are walk in and dont take any reservation from travel agent.Among the best resort and chalet...Bubu Resort ,Moshin Chalet,Matahari Chalet ,Panorama Chalet ,Bintang Chalet and Moon Light chalet..Lots of tourist and backpackers from oversea came here every year.In Coral Bay...there have 2 resort..Senjabay resort and Shari La Resort (Open last year 2008).The both resort facing to Susu Dara Island and Rawa Island..among the best snorkeling site here..For other activity like jungle trekking..you can visit to Hybrid Station. The meals still offering with reasonable price with asian and western dishes. For snorkeling site quite limited here..you have to take the snorkeling package..going with boat to Rawa ,Susu Dara ,Telok Pauh , Turtle point and other site. For sunrise and sunset..its the best spot here.

Perhentian Besar..lots of resort 3-4 star ratings here like Perhentian Island Resort ,Coral View Island resort,Perhentian Tunabay and Arwana Eco Resort..Here only have 2 swimming pool at PIR and Arwana. But here also you can find the cheaper chalets around RM60 per night. The most best and highly recommended..Abdul Chalet by Tripsadvisor forum.Here..many chalet and snorkeling site..on the long stretch beach.

Rates around RM450-RM550 would best budget to get comfortable resort..include air condition ,meals and snorkeling. For RM60 per night..only double bed with mosquito net and fan only tongue.gif .

unfortunately pangkor, redang, perhentian & tioman already fully booked.. sweat.gif

so will be going 9 to 11 may..  rclxm9.gif

just want to ask something.. icon_question.gif

why now got to go from jeti shahbandar..??

isn't from kuala merang is closer.. hmm.gif

i go from jeti shahbandar takes me about 2 hour.. doh.gif

from kuala merang only 40 to 50 minutes..
*
Iya right bro...1st May 2 and 3..are fully booked...thinking to come on that date future..you should make in advance booking at least 4-6 month. Please avoid to come during Public Holiday and School Holiday.

Depart from Syahbandar Jetty ( Laguna ,Coral Redang,Ayu Mayang,Redang Beach ,Wisana and Mozana) the ferry will take 1 hour 30 minutes to reach Redang Island

Depart from Merang Jetty (Redang Reef,Holiday,Bay,Kalong,Pelangi ) its take 45 minutes.

Merang quite closer to Redang Island compare Syahbandar jetty. smile.gif

was wondering.. wat happen if i miss the boat transfer from jetty to resort?
are there any private boats that can take us to the resort?
how much are there?
got any reliable contact?
thanks
*
if you depart from Syahbandar Jetty..the boat schedule at 9.00am 10.30am 1.00pm last boat at 3.00pm.The fares RM100 for return..But if you miss the ferry..you have to call the resort...maybe they can provide second transfer.

If you miss the boat at Merang Jetty...well you can rental private boat at RM700 blink.gif per boat to Redang Island.

Why from Merang Jetty so expensive?

and also, the 3pm boat from syahbandar goes to any resort in Redang or wat?
*
Its private boat ..so mean its expensive compare to Syahbandar jetty running by Ferry.

Iya right..from Syahbandar Jetty to Redang Island either to Kampong Jetty or Pasir Panjang direct. If they transfer you to Kampong Jetty, the resort will come to pick you up. smile.gif

Samurai bro, can u suggest me the best package for open water diving course for:
- 2 pax, no diving experience
- departing from KL, including airfare, boat transfers
- including air-con, meals, exams, license, equipment etc...
- travel in april

and some questions:
- i heard perhentian is the best/and affordable for diving?
- is 3d2n for diving enough?
- i heard the exam study material is quite thick?

thanks
*
The cheaper package at Perhentian Island around RM850 per person for Open Water Course (PADI) with out accommodation+meal and transfer.if include with all cost..estimated RM1200-RM1500 per person for 4 Day 3 Night. If you want to come this month, please make in advance booking..becoz some room are fully booked.

Yes..right.Perhentian Island among the best and affordable for diving..value of money compare to other island. For 4 Day 3 Night..its enough time to complete PADI.About exam..no comment.hope somebody here will share their experience about exam.. smile.gif

Then, which will be better for vacation for 2 couples? tongue.gif

Perhentian Besar or Perhentian Kecil?

I've found Senjabay Resort is the cheapest of all, with snorkeling package.
Any more resort to recommend for 2 couples (preferable quad room) with snorkeling package?
*
Perhentian Kecil would be the choice..and stay at Senja Bay Resort .I want to recommend some resort like Shari La resort and Bubu Resort but the rates quite pricey..above RM450 per person. smile.gif

i'm planning to organise a 3 days 2 nights stay in Redang for my family(total 6 person) to celebrate my dad's 67th birthday

may i know the details regarding transportations available to get there (because we don noe the way there) and the best place for us to stay with affordable price.

if possible can insert any link along?

thank you and sorry for being troublesome..
*
Congratulation..very good son.. smile.gif

If you from KL...take bus from Hentian Putra Bus Station to Kuala Terengganu Bus stations...then the resort bus will come to pick you up..to Merang Jetty...then to Redang Island.

The best budget would be around RM300 per person for quad sharing room.

4. can i charter any boat frm these resort to go for an island hoping / snorkelling at nearby island?
5. i plan to get flt morning say around 0730, can i still catch the afternoon boat to perhentian? going back frm there, should i take evening flt (4pm - 5pm) or nite flt.

thanks!

Perhentian Kecil
Bubu Long Beach located at Perhentian Kecil.Offering lots of package..still pricey compare other resort.Here..also you get chalet with lowest rates per night RM60.Lots of backpackers and diver come to Long Beach..If your budget ..more then RM500 above..well its the right place. Its best place to see sunrise..and for sunset, you have to cross small hill..to Coral Bay..just 10-15 minute walk. Here also located Senja Bay Resort..offering quite reasonable rates. Both resort are good choice to enjoy the activities.

Perhentian Island Resort located at Telok Paoh ,Perhentian Besar.Among top 4 ratings resort at Perhentian.Have some bad review about price, accommodation and services..all you can get at tripsadvisor..A good part only the beautiful beaches and snorkeling site at front of the resort.

Abdul Chalet located at Perhentian Besar .Among the best choice to stay here..also have a good review with their services, value of money and good accommodation.Highly recommended by tripsadvisor forum.

You can take snorkeling package for island hoping ( Susu Dara Island and Rawa Island )

Depart from KL 7.30 and reach to Kota Bharu at 8.20am..then catch taxi RM78 per way to Kuala Besut direct..reach at 10.00am...take boat at 10.30..to Perhentian Island. The last boat to Perhentian around 3.00pm to 4.00pm.

Going home..check out at 10.00am..arrive at Kuala Besut jetty at 10.35am...take taxi to Kota Bharu airport..around 12.00 noon..then check in. smile.gif

*
Your welcome ilovevs.. smile.gif

Its better to take full board package (accommodation + meals and snorkeling trips )..value of money. After the package, you can walk to other resort/chalet ..(Long Beach,DLagoon ,Coral Bay)

Samurai,

I decide to go Redang this coming May. I never been there b4. Can give me some suggestions?

1. Redang Bay or Redang Beach better? budget below RM450.
2. Which bus company is more comfortable if I depart from KL to Terengganu? With wide seat(3 rows only).
3. When I reach at KT bus station, is there anyone come and pick up?

thank you.
*
Redang Beach Resort would be good choice for your budget.

Sani Ekpress and SP Bumi Ekpress with 2 + 1 seater much more comfortable. Or you can also buy through online..at http://www.maraliner.com.my/

The resort will come to pick you up to Merang jetty but if you depart from Syahbandar Jetty..just walk 10 minutes from KT Bus Terminal to the jetty. smile.gif
