Hello sifu,

-New box-mate is newly born and healty (eating like a baby, all the time)
-My little Egyptian is about 8-9 centimeter from tail to head approximately.
-Box is around 85x50 centimeter. But my current tortoise don't like being in the box, he will be scraping the sand to ask people to put him in the living room. Quite friendly, know to approach my mom foot if he is feeling hungry sweat.gif

I think you would also need to check if he is wild caught or captive bred. Depends on the illnesses and bacteria that they have as well. What I understand is generally need about 6 months quarantine period before introducing new additions. and that is also under controlled environments. U don't want a case of bullying! But if your sulcata is a hatchling (under 1 year). He'll generally be about the size of 4-6cm (plastron) which is definately much smaller than your egpytian. you may rethink about putting them together for the time being until your hatchling becomes similar in size (for the sulcata it won't take long prob 6 months on a good diet. Before you know it.. the sulcata will be a giant!

Btw your egyptian looks great and the best measurements would be on the plastron for greater accuracy.

LTC = Long Term Captive if healthy and eating well I don't see any harm putting them together ( at most 12-18 mths assume Sulcata is really a hatchling ) BUT theres a few BUTS

- If the Egyptian is a Male ( at 8-9 cm he is mature to breed already) chasing a baby to try to mount will stress the baby to death !!

- The diet or food item may be a bit different for now ( chopped up a bit for baby Vs whole stalk of leaves for adult )

As Dagashi mention Sulcata do grow big and fast thus I mention 12-18 mths together !!

Cheers

Its a captive bred. Thank you very much for your tips.

Anyway, my Egyptian really LOVE eating your pellet. But I kinda dip the pellet into a water to make it slightly soft to consume. Sometimes mix with any other vegetable eventhough he kinda dislike it sweat.gif

thanks for your review!I also soak the pellets first before feeding it to my torts. easier for them to eat. But can't be too wet or else they will be too soft and mushy (then it becomes messy and difficult to clean).

I also found that if we put veges together with mazuri, our torts will just ignore the veges. sweat.gif and eat the mazuri. So we make sure that we don't mix it so we don't waste food.

I suspect my baby sulcata (approx 5cm-6cm) can eat 3 pellets by himself for the whole day!! and contrary to normal babies, he can happily munch away on full stalks of veges which we found amusing cause those were meant for our older stars. I find that sulcatas are ferocious eaters shocking.gif Always always always eating! and growing too! My stars are more tame and boring. Always hiding in their hut.

I also notice that each tort is so different in behaviour. my sulcata will sleep with his body slightly upright against a wall whereas my stars will just laze around happily in the shaded area. icon_rolleyes.gif

So fast growing, your tortoise.

Unlike others, Egyptian is a kind of species that slowly grows. With the average lifespan of 40-50 years old, it would be a perfect life companion for me laugh.gif

The main problem is that to find another female Egyptian to pair with mine. I hate seeing him living a foreveralone life sad.gif

Same species, yes but the picture is not mine if that what you're asking.

Cute? I could say so, but I notice he don't really afraid neither human or my cats. I sometime makes me worry if he is too brave for his own good, since Egyptian Tortoise live in different environment (originally) and making other pathogen that our body or other local special don't have problem with; will be a problem for him.
