Mr Docter>> Does it open its mouth when you try to touch his nose or something? Btw how do you know it's a "he"? Shopkeeper told you...? Any traits to "read" their gender?
I have 1 terrapin currently XD Got it as my bday gift 15 years ago! So yup, she's 15 years old now...! I used to have 2, 1 male and 1 female but after about 8 years, the male 'ran away' from home. It's 'coz we usually let our terrapins go out and in of their "pool" freely (it's pretty low, they can climb out & back in on their own; especially in the morning where they know it's feeding time they'll go back inside the water). When they climb out of their water, they usually explore the house - living room, kitchen, even the bathroom - all the rooms/ places that's practically downstairs. Unfortunately back then our gate has a big hole and they were smaller. One day the male just escaped from the front gate and we didn't realize until we couldn't find him after ransacking the whole house (both of them have their own favourite 'hideout' where we can usually find them). He was gone and we learnt our lesson. My mum even walked throughout the neighbourhood but there's no trace of him. Hopefully a kind neighbour found him and take good care of him
I feed my terrapins the Nutrafin Basic terrapin pellets. Both liked it and my female terrapin had been taking the same pellet for 15 years. I used to change brand once (because they ran out of Nutrafin in the shop and I was running low on the food supply) and they don't seem to like it. Yes, they still eat but little. So when it finished, I went back to Nutrafin.
I used to feed them (fresh from market) raw prawns and boy, don't they love it. Unfortunately it's really smelly (the water and their poo); and for few days they refused to eat the pellets when I feed them (waiting for the prawns) so in the end my mum said we shouldn't give them the prawns anymore. Besides, there's more nutrients in the pellets. Sometimes we give them kangkung leaves. I give them banana and apple bits as treats (they enjoy it) but pretty rare. They poo get watery and lembik with the banana.
mine is "she" i guess, based on the picture provided by the Wikipedia

no sir, my Kuma-Kuma is kinda shy (or scared? i believe its normal) when she see a finger that pointed to her head, to touch her head. she will immediately withdraw her head into her shell, but eventually the head will pop up again when she know its not a threat. how about yours? i am really excited reading your story. oh God i hope my pet will stay alive as long as yours too!

i don't keep my tortoise in the case too. i prefer her to walk freely around my bedroom (its lucky since this kind of animal don't have any strong smell

). after few days, i will identify her favorite spot and start putting her food at that place.
regarding her diet, i don't start feeding with pallet or any artificial food yet since i don't know where to start. i just give him vegetables and she loves cabbage. really loves it compared to the rest. because i don't know how this animal drink, i just dip their vege into the water and hope that the water is sufficient for their need..
