Hello, I'm back again with questions.

My female star tortoise, lately, it doesn't eat much (well usually it eats greedily).

And we noticed its weird behaviour lately: it puts up its butt really high and we thought that it is having trouble shitting and we got shock to see it puts out something reddish then shrink it back on again. But it doesn't look like those the males have.

Can anybody explain what's going on?

And BTW, they are mature enough, but they seem like having no idea how to do 'business'... Should I provide some 'tortoise porns' for them just like what they did for the pandas?

My guess stone or prolapse !!

What do u mean stone? Well, Dad said it ever ate stone and having trouble shitting but luckily it shit the stone out lah...

And prolapse??? Oh damn. Any way can stop or cure it?

Added on December 17, 2010, 6:52 amAs for the stone I am not talking about ingested stone but rather bladder stone !!

Do a search on both first , determine which is the cause before we go into stopping and curing !!

Sam, absolutely lovely turtles u got there....may i ask what do you feed them and what type of enclosure did you make for them?

I use to feed mine with super worms (they love it) and put leavelitters for them...but they didnt last more than 2 years...would appreciate your advice.

They would prefer soft-bodied worm more , slug and snail , fruits beside some flower (I throw in some prawn and fresh ikan bilis ) The leave-litters are a good choice as they bury a lot to stay away from the direct sun and to keep damp too !!

I keep mine with baby Elongata , Forstenii , Footed , Emys , Star !!

you can try to test for bladder stone by feeling/stroking/sticking your fingers into the soft parts under the shell where the hind limbs stick out.

or, if you're not sure or want further confirmation, you can bring her to any vets that have x-ray. serious stone cases would need surgical procedure to cure.

if prolapse is suspected, bring her to vet with fresh poop sample.

btw, state wildlife department went to my place today to handle some monkey troubles. i intentionally called fire and rescue, but they relayed the message to wildlife ).

i ended up having to quote various sections under act 76 and 686 while answering questions like "are these turtles for sale?", "do you keep star tortoises?", "how do you make profits out of these animals?" LOLOLOL LMFAO!!!

Since they look so similar why one is call a box and the other a leaf turtle ??

- Geoemyda spengleri Black-breasted Leaf Turtle

my opinion would be that because the genus Pyxidea is closely related, and even considered a detachment from the genus Cuora (boxies), so it is easier to lump them together in the common name section.

anyway, one of my lost euro contacts that breeds G. spengleri exclusively swears on pinkies.

Pinkies are good as well but my pinkies are reserves for some other reptiles , cant seems to produce enough !! LOL

My mom had bought me a Red Eared Sliders (male) on December 9, 2010 @ Tamu Keningau. It costs RM17 each.

I'm now hunting for female RES since my Turtle (my mom named him BabyKu) is living alone in his mini aquarium and I know he wants a female partner to accompany him =P

Anyone knows where can I buy a female RES (the matured one!) because my place has no more female turtle to be sold (or probably they don't want to sell the females!). Peninsular Malaysia (KL and Selangor priority) also can lah...

How big is it ? How can you be so sure its a male - the seller told you so or you know how to tell them apart ?

hey guys, would like to ask..is it a good idea to move my leo tortoise 5" to outdoor enclosure. if yes then what do you suggest to include in the enclosure apart for the necessities such as water/food tray, hideout..

hi everybody..wonder what is kind of tortoise is this?..lol...bought rm6 each....just bought 2 more tortoise in addition to another 2more that i bough few weeks ago... all are still small and wonder why the older ones tend to hide and sleep where the 2 new ones busy moving all around?..is it ok? or do i need to separate it?... and one of it always sleeps and the eyes are close most of the time....any cause?

Would like to get some advice here. I have a male ST (12cm long). Currently, I looking after my friend's smaller ST (unknown gender, 9cm long) too. When both put together, my ST will chase after the small ST. The small ST will run away and hide somewhere but my ST will look for it all over the house. My ST is just chasing and looking at the small ST, no biting. Could anyone please advice me why the weird behavior? Is it dangerous because I need to put them together in same cage during weekdays?
