Woohoo! I'm now a proud owner of a Z116GG, this is my 5th VAIO already, I'm addicted to it.

Can anyone advise what softwares i can remove from my Z? Since it's a 128GB SSD, i have limited space, so need to make more room.

Well, you can start off by reading post #201.

Additionally, you can remove everything that is start with "PMB..." It's Picture Motion Browser from Sony. But if you're Sony freak fan, keep it as it make other Sony gadget works flawlessly like the camcoders, photo printers etc... without the need of installing the drivers. Good internet social service support.

You can remove VAIO Media Plus.. if you did not like to share contents. Do not remove anything that has "VAIO..." at front, it is the necessities apps for your VAIO.

Media Gallery, media (audio, video and picture) content management apps. At first I did not like it, but after couple of usage, I feel it is better than other audio management program out there. It can sort you audio based on genre or mood. Useful if you have thousands MP3s and did not know which one to hear.

Others like... McAfee, Spy Sweeper, Evernote etc.

And don't forget to create Recovery Disc first. nod.gif

Welcome to the club. More Z user please! tongue.gif
Just follow what Bugeca said. and make sure you know what program you are uninstalling at first place.

When i got my Z. the only thing i did remove is the trial software and the av.
The only sony apps im always using is SonicStage. Recommend you let it there if you like to tinker with sound files and also for sound filtering smile.gif

Is Sony notebook has a tendency to heatup and it does not have durability/long lasting? How is the reputation of the vaio overseas service?

guys, have you experience your lcd emits a buzzing sound before? after owning the laptop for about 2 years, i recently only found out this noise, strange thing is that the noise will go away after few minutes. I google up and find that many people faced this problem before, different brand different series of laptop, something to do with the screen brightness, but they never mention a solution. Any idea? unsure.gif

Hi guys,

I am planning to get Vaio soon and need your opinions icon_question.gif

I was planning to get the VPC-Z 128 GG/XQ which comes with a i7-620M which is Dual Core, Until I come across an older version of the Vaio Z (VPC-Z 117 GG/Z) which comes with an i7-720M which is Quad Core.

I know the 128GG/XQ is newer but performance wise, which is better ?

Thanks

Performance wise, the i7-720QM has a little bit better than i7-620M.
Here the comparison:

i7-720QM:
1. Faster memory bus (DDR3-1333)
2. 6MB L3 Cache
3. Clock: 1.6 up to 2.8Ghz

i7-620M:
1. Memory bus (DDR3-1066)
2. 4MB L3 Cache.
3. Clock: 2.66 up to 3.33Ghz

Here come the drawbacks:
1. Due to higher TDP in i7-720QM, battery performance doesnt do well with this processor rather than i7-620M.
2. Due to higher TDP in i7-720QM, i7-720QM have high temperature than i7-620M.

I just returned my Dell Studio 1557 with Core i7-720QM for a replacement Studio 1558 with Core i7-620M. Here's what I found:

The Core i7-720QM sits around 50-60 degC and draws 15W at idle
The Core i7-620M sits around 45-50 degC and draws 6W at idle

The Core i7-720QM maxed out at 88 degC and up to 55W under full load
The Core i7-620M maxed out at 80 degC and up to 28W under full load

All figures from CPUID Hardware Monitor.
Verdict: Its all depending on your task and usage. If you think you can fully utilize the quad core, go for i7-720QM.

The technology in the current Z is very captivating, but still the built of the older models are way better IMO.
