Hi guys,

I am planning to get Vaio soon and need your opinions icon_question.gif

I was planning to get the VPC-Z 128 GG/XQ which comes with a i7-620M which is Dual Core, Until I come across an older version of the Vaio Z (VPC-Z 117 GG/Z) which comes with an i7-720M which is Quad Core.

I know the 128GG/XQ is newer but performance wise, which is better ?

Thanks

Performance wise, the i7-720QM has a little bit better than i7-620M.
Here the comparison:

i7-720QM:
1. Faster memory bus (DDR3-1333)
2. 6MB L3 Cache
3. Clock: 1.6 up to 2.8Ghz

i7-620M:
1. Memory bus (DDR3-1066)
2. 4MB L3 Cache.
3. Clock: 2.66 up to 3.33Ghz

Here come the drawbacks:
1. Due to higher TDP in i7-720QM, battery performance doesnt do well with this processor rather than i7-620M.
2. Due to higher TDP in i7-720QM, i7-720QM have high temperature than i7-620M.
Verdict: Its all depending on your task and usage. If you think you can fully utilize the quad core, go for i7-720QM.

Thanks for the advice, I think I will go with the i7-620M, as i need more battery power on the go smile.gif

My Z128 had a Fatal Error 30 minutes ago cry.gif

Was watching Anime when the Screen suddenly goes black and the speaker emits a buzzing sound, I then force restart it and after attempting to load windows, a blue screen showing FATAL ERROR shows up cry.gif

I force restart again and do a System Restore, its working again now, anyone have any idea what happen ??

The Blue Screen only shows me 2 lines

System Shut down to prevent damage
STOP 0x000000

is the error only saying this value: 0x000000 ?
because you can check the cause from these hex code meaning:
http://www.easydesksoftware.com/stoperrors.htm

not sure what the cause, did you do something? like install something e.g: driver etc.
system restore do works in this case if you unable to figure the cause..
I think I got this one [Stop 0x0000007B or INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE]

Well no problems so far, it will be a pain if the SSD is causing the problem cry.gif

update your AV and run full scan.
and download MalwareByte (if dont have any malware scanner), update, and run it too.

I run the Vaio One Click Care earlier, it seems that there is a registry problem with the SSD, it is fixed now.

I will try and scan using the software you recommend and see if there are any viruses detected.

Thanks for the advice smile.gif

Guys, how to make my Z image is smooth? When I view Sony Style USA website, the images seems jagged. So, what can I do to make its smooth and quality without blur or jagged pictures?

Which Graphic Card are you on while experienced the jagged images ?
