lol most of us out of topic here...

can I jump in the bandwagon and say Fernando Torres as well?? tongue.gif

cause Liverpool paid about 20m + for him only

For me, currently the underrated striker in EPL should be...Kevin Doyle

Past? Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. I know he is a legend in Man U, but if he were playing in another league, he will be even more famous.

underate can measure by :

1. player who doing very well in the team but unfortunately he got overshadowed by other player in the team

example 1 : rooney doing good last season but he is shadowed by ronaldo last season
example 2 : kuyt very impressive last season but player like gerrard/torres shadowing him

2. player who doing a good job but unfortunately he had low profile played in low end team or even didnt get 1st team chance in big team
example 1: falcao
example 2: podolski
*
just want to add

3-player who doing a good job but not being for world cup for no apparent reason
example 1: ronaldinho
example 2: bobby zamora

Eh are we looking at underrated or overrated players?

Guivarch was a flop, vastly overrated especially since he just won the World Cup before signing for Newcastle. Beckford was rated by fans to be amongst the top 3 players in the Championship this season in the recent edition of FourFourTwo.

i'm talking during his prime time with reynald pedros, lilian laslandes, patrice loko, where everybody was giving so much attention in BPL popularity begin to rise up....and pair of young henry/trez become too powerful to pave way for older guys like them.

Well I wouldn't lump players no one here has heard of as being underrated. Back on the topic of Guivarch however, he did enough to earn a place in the 98 World Cup squad. Unfortunately for him, he only scored 1 goal and made only 14 appearances, a fact that leads me to believe that some quarters expected more out of him and he disappointed. He was 27 at the time and should have been in his prime. Newcastle took a gamble on him and he made just 4 appearances. It's facts like these that led me to believe he wasn't worth the hype. He may have scored lost of goals in the French 1st Division early in his career but he never made an impact in bigger, tougher leagues. Some players never do. Cisse scored heaps of goals in France and is still doing so in Greece but there is serious doubt if he can do the same in bigger leagues. He didn't when we has at Liverpool and it seems none of the big sides in Europe figure he ever will.

We can agree to disagree but for the reasons stated above, I never rated Guivarch. One striker I did underrate however was Miroslav Klose. Prior to the 2006 World Cup, I thought he could only score with his head but in that World Cup, he showed he had good feet and scored with both in that campaign.

Why nobody mentioned Di Natale?

It isnt easy to score 25++ goals in Serie A especially when you are playing for an average team...

Plus I think he is highly rated, well at least by everyone except Glenn Hoddle. Unfortunately for him, England's midfield was brimming with talent at the time. Think David Platt, Steve McMahon, Paul Ince, Paul Gascoigne, Bryan Robson. That being said, I still think he should have got more England caps.
