Hi guys, sorry to interfere this tread a little. Actually I'm on my way in getting a M43rd as well. Saw u guys recommending E-PL1, btw by comparing E-P2 and E-PL1,  I guess E-P2 is a better buy wouldn't it? E-P2 comes with an EVF, EVF already cost about RM900. Let's say an E-P2 cost about RM3200 with 14-42 / 17mm. Minus the EVF, it actually cost RM2300. Wouldn't it a good buy than E-PL1? What do you guys think?
*
It comes down to whether you want the built-in flash and smaller body of E-PL1. Other stuff is better for E-P2.

Erm, there's a photo album sub section. You can open a photo album.. smile.gif but u can post here also la..keke

QUOTE(Bliz @ Jun 19 2010, 05:51 PM)
EPL1 built quality is not really good IMHO, i rather spend a bit more on EP1 since i don't use the flash  notworthy.gif
*
Well, some people don't really care about build quality. They would rather get the flash... and cheaper...
well different people have different needs... kekeke

QUOTE(dadurtyz @ Jun 19 2010, 06:28 PM)
help me choose, E-PL1 or GF1? im not into professional photographer, just want for daily use with SLR image quality and use for traveling, which suit me best?
my friends all advise me to get GF1, but the price would be around 1k more than E-PL1,
image quality between this 2model which one is the best?
*
From review, best image is from E-PL1. You can check review in dpreview.com.

I would think you should get E-PL1. First, it has stabilizer body. Second its cheaper.
smile.gif You will not regret getting E-PL1 because its really great for the price...should be
RM2100~RM2200....

current question, white or champagne gold?
*

reporting in - just got back from singapore - mission accomplished - got my pana 20mm and a crumpler 2MD bag
flying out from singapore u get to claim the gst thus pana 20mm I got for sgd524, and the crumpler bag from the camera store was a tad cheaper too compare to crumpler official outlet price

the leg is extendable

cheap tripod like this is ok for normal usage. Cheap tripod means its not stable. If got big wind, maybe not stable. Might
have shake etc.But its great for travel because its quite small...

QUOTE(dadurtyz @ Jun 19 2010, 10:50 PM)
Yeah, but i just love the body compact size GF1  rclxub.gif
E-LP1 look very plastic, but the price difference very high,
my friends racun me to get GF1 bcz image quality almost E-P2  rclxub.gif

i also fall in love with GF1 now with pancake lens. how to decide, arghhhh
*
Erm, I thought Image Quality of E-PL1 beat GF-1 and E-P2? I heard JPEG from E-PL1 is the best from
PEN series. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But if you love GF1, please stop listening to me. You need to buy the stuff you like. Else, you'll keep
on regretting after buying E-PL1. Haha..

For a non-pro like me, E-PL1 is greater value la.. coz got image stabilizer mah. Can stabilize 20mm f/1.7..

QUOTE(liyonglim @ Jun 19 2010, 10:51 PM)
Btw guys, EVF EF-2. I'm a specky guys. Will there be any limitation of using this EVF if i'm wearing a  spec?
thanks
*
I think you have to go try it yourself. According to spec, got diopter adjustment for people wearing spec.
So, you can go try if the adjustment can make you feel better with and without glass.

Hoya Digital Pro-1D is famous. Its very good.
So buying Panasonic or Hoya should be good. Buy the one cheaper.

now just thinking which filter to go. Possibly ll get Panasonic filter as well.

Btw, anyone try manual focus on EPL1.

I just read the manual, with MF Assist on, while u rotate the the ring, it will auto magnify the image for precise focus.

I have switch mine to MF mode and try rotate (either clock wise, anti clock wise) it seems nothing change... rclxub.gif

anything wrong?
*
You need to change the display mode with a green box.

erm.. probably E-PL1 different from E-P1? Probably you just need to press this button and it'll magnify...

user posted image
Magnified live view mode gains its own (easily accessed) button, making it quick to check fine focus with manual focus lenses. This acts as a toggle - pressing a second time returns to the normal display. Unfortunately though, you still can't activate the IS in magnified view, to aid focusing long lenses.

Nice! So will this 25mm F1.4 be equivalent to 50mm F2.8 when it is coupled onto m43 camera? Or it doesn't work that way? LoL!

wait, I just write the 25mm f/1.4 is the spec you want... not that it will really come out... sorry for the misunderstanding...
and i heard aperture does not follow conversion too as the post above..."P

The aperture would not become 2.8 but stays at 1.4 as the light gathering capability for the lens is still the same. However the DOF will become the same 2.8 as in the full frame camera and the focal length will multiply by 2 (50mm). The pana-leica 25mm f1.4 four third lens is really an expensive lens IMHO. I wish olympus or pana will make a micro 43 version for it.

you're right... article here explain more:

what if the lens distance and sensor is shorter? will the aperture also affected?

QUOTE(joeong @ Jun 21 2010, 04:03 PM)
ohhh...
i may be wrong but i initially thought and was told that the only diff in m4/3 was the double focal lenght.
the main reason why the panny 20mm f1.7 lens has such beautiful creamy bokeh was because its a f 1.7 lens
another angle which im coming from is, just compare the bokeh of a full frame 50mm f1.8 to a 20mm f1.7 and you will notice similar results in DOF and bokeh. the aperture doesnt become smaller just because of the smaller m4/3 sensors and distance to sensor! (i think) lol
*
i think its very complicated discussion. you cannot compare different lens... i think the answer to whether depth of field
is affected or not by cropped lens, is by saying that it is depend on the design on the camera and lens.

Is it the sign my 20mm coming..?

omg... sad.gif luckily you check.. hope you get your lens back soon... last time I send back my lens is because
I make some mistake by pulling out USB cable while updating firmware. Cost me RM50 for this. sad.gif But the
lens I got back in 3 days... (they need to send from Penang to KL).

I think you'll get it very fast since you're in KL...

or of course, u can buy your 20mm now..keke

i have canon DSLR camera and GF1, both dont have inbody IS too but its on the lens.

so far i dont find any problem in capturing pictures.
*
What he meant is that for tele lens, without IS on lens, its a problem. Your Canon dSLR sure got
in-lens IS for tele one ler... tongue.gif

Just for clearer picture:

Tele lens = zoom lens
example is 70-300mm, 50-200mm

For body without IS, they need 70-300mm OIS, 50-200mm OIS

For body with IS, example, olympus, they need 70-300mm non-OIS, 50-200mm non-OIS
