can recommend a good 3rd party casing? (snorkeling only not deep diving)
which dicapac model do you guys use for cameras m4/3 size! the one for dslr?
*
I'm using Fuji J20 for my snorkelling trip in Redang... no way I gonna dive my RM3k camera into the water
with DiCapac...lolz...

Here is the image of my J20 with underwater housing:

Anyone have better idea how to clean the sensor on EPL1? Since M43 straight sensor to lenses

any concern using Rocket blow?

arr just discover there are particle on sensor there after the Olympus ppl take away my lens for warranty claim.
*
Activate the sensor cleaning a few times and see if it goes off...

If not, I feel that you should send it back to shop.

Last time, there's a big dust on my sensor. I use my hair strand, loop it around, then just try to scratch off the
dust. And it works. Not sure if you want to take such risk.

I feel that Rocket blow is quite dangerous. Last time I use rocket blow and it makes the condition even worse
if use wrongly.

Hair.???too bad I just have haircut hahaha...

Usually how they clean it?
*
I don't also...

Usually people use sensor swab to clean. Some use lens pen.
Some using rocket blower. So take your choice.

Some said bringing to service center to clean, after get back, more dust... so I really dunno...
depend on ur luck...lolz

Anybody dare to use a vacuum cleaner to suck dust? But static generated at the tip of the pipe might kill the electronics. Risky ~! brows.gif

Haha but then I used to do it on my PC, nothing happen actually. Does the cleaning job right! thumbup.gif

haha, think also feel scared liao... PC got nothing sensitive... tongue.gif tongue.gif

try and take a photo with the highest F number, white wall or something, then use low shutter speed, like 10, then when you press the shutter button, shake your camera.

If you can see the dusts/ smearing, then maybe you need to clean it. if not or very minor, i suggest you to leave it alone lol.

Lesson I've learn from DSLR, "Dust is fact of life"
It's true :/
I have some dust in my viewfinder and sensor.
Dust in viewfinder cant help it unless I send it to canon service center but i've heard cases of dust being increased LOL
And dust on sensor, only visible only F22 and above, which I don't really mind since the highest F number I've used is F11.
*
Agreed... last time, I got it in my viewfinder... I panic..

But when I got E-P1, got dust in my sensor also I dun really care... lolz

But if the dust is stuck quite hard to the sensor, would the supersonic vibration be able to shake off the dust?
*
in my case, no...

I tried a few times to enable SSWF by turn on and turn off the camera while holding the sensor facing
down. But it does not come off. I want to try with SSWF with blower. But I'm scared because last time
I use blower, it make matter worse.

So I use my hair strand, roll it into circle, and use it to scratch out the stubborn dust.. crazy, but it works...
lolz...

booohoooo....
after some googling, i have learned that red colors not available in asia....
no wonder i havent seen one in msia yet!
is ebay my only option?....
also she prefers the look of the ep1. which u guys recommend?
big diff between ep1 and epl1?
*
believe me, she want an E-PL1 based on the fact that she is a girl...lol

With E-PL1, there's a flash light... can cam whore...
E-PL1 also smaller. Picture come out nicer and someone said AF is faster
also.

The one E-P1 has is just better build quality. Furthermore, there's more
Art mode like Pop Art, Soft Focus, Grainy B&W, Pin Hole, Diorama and Sepia.

Diorama not exist in E-P1...

So, the best value is E-PL1..

I can live w/t 14-42mm for my trip since got 20mm 2molo..but just need a fast sensor cleaning.
*
have you tried? really got dust when u take photo? if no dust when taking photo, then no need
clean liao...

Did Olympus said to u that u need to pay for cleaning?

wow so many opting for oly pen. i feel so left out as GF1 owner.
*
I feel Olympus Pen series especially E-PL1 really appealing to wide range of user from beginner to advance.
Thus the uptake of E-PL1 is quite high.

However, more pro is using GF1 and E-Px series.

btw, i wonder why sometimes I can lock the focus but actually the view is still blur? But sometimes not.

I experience it quite frequent recently on my kit lens and the 20mm as well
*
did u select single focus point and make it center?

Yes I experienced that too frequency. That's one of the reason why I got the VF-2. Actually you can select 1 AF Point and after AF lock, you can reframe.
*
U mean, VF-2 can prevent focus error? tongue.gif tongue.gif

QUOTE(awyongcarl @ Jun 25 2010, 10:29 PM)
That's a classic traditional technique called Focus-Recompose...
But personally I wouldn't recommend doing so because it causes error in focal plane. (If you are using middle AF point to do so)
Always select the closest AF point after composing whenever possible to prevent this.

I do that alot when using E-P2 tho (AF point always at middle, focus-recompose), cause switching AF point required me to press 2 buttons then only able to select, kind of inconvenient compared to my DSLR.
*
traditional technique work with point and shoot because of wider DOF.... with 20mm f/1.7, I think it might not work
because when focus-recompose, the AF will still out...haha.. so you're right... its better to select the nearest AF point instead of only
select the center focus point

No..I mean with VF-2 you can see if the picture is in focus clearer compared to using only the live view.

As for the picture, that is not my mum. I think she is the shop owner's wife.
*
oic... then I really need to try out VF-2...haha

you snap shop owner's wife pic? later kena tempelang..haha

blower to me, is very high risk..haha.. but to me only la.. a lot of people use blower....

Maybe can use blower while turn on camera (activate SSWF)...
