But buying the panasonic lens separately is more expensive then buying it in a kit...

If only the E-P2 would come bundled with pana 20mm f1.7 kit  tongue.gif
Oh well.... T_T
*
erm, that's true.... cry.gif if only olympus have lens like that....

Guys.. just curious how come not many folks here using GH1 or G2?
*
GH1 must buy with 14-140mm which cost around RM6k. No one is going to spend that much on non-dSLR camera...
Well, G2 is still new and I agree with samurai that G2 is like dSLR and might as well go for real dSLR...

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ May 31 2010, 01:48 AM)
My 2 cents

GH1:
Because it resembles DSLR, and most of the m43 adopters prefer a range-finder styled camera. And it's relatively expensive, might as well go for Nikon D90 / Canon 550D. No doubt, it's image quality and high ISO handling is a class above other m43 cameras though tongue.gif

G2:
Same reason as GH1, and plus I'm not too sure if it's widely available yet
*
I pretty much disagree with your ISO handling for GH1. As for now, Olympus E-PL1 ISO handling is the best among all dSLR... unless I read wrongly tongue.gif

QUOTE(-kytz- @ May 31 2010, 02:57 AM)
Oh i see...meaning that Both the Samsung NX and Sony NEX series are definitely better than M43 right?

NX10 is priced around the same as EOS 550D hmm.gif 550D still beats the NX10 and Sony NEX series right? blush.gif
*
[fanboy mode]
Since this is m43 thread, the answer is m43 totally beat 550D, NX10 and NEX. The reason is because m43 ISO performance beat dSLR such as Nikon D3000
and from earlier review, NEX lenses have serious serious problem with abberation chromatic etc... while NX10 is totally not accepted by photography community
because a lot of people think Samsung only do washing machine...
[/fanboy mode]

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ May 31 2010, 09:56 AM)
The current situation... these are all "market price" not RRP ya.

GH1 + 14-45mm kit --> NT22,900
GH1 + 14-140mm kit --> NT33,900
GH1 + pancake --> NT23,900
GF1 + pancake --> NT21,900

These are all Japan import. HK import more expensive by NT2000-3000

Oly only got Taiwan goods here (Oly is so freakin expensive here).

E-PL1 zoom kit --> NT24,900
E-P1 kit --> ~NT30,000
E-P2 kit (14-42mm without EVF) --> ~ NT30,000

NEX5 2 lens kit --> NT26,900
NEX5 pancake --> NT20,980
NEX5 zoom kit --> NT22,980

550D 18-55mm kit --> NT29,980

So... to summarise.... Oly over-priced here... Panny makes sense.. just the m43 sensor size.. NEX makes sense (2 lens kit and case closed)... just the lack of buttons and underwhelming lens. 550D is heavy and biggest black black hole potential since it'll scream for better lenses.

As for the Samsung.. korean eat dogs so I dun consider them tongue.gif

So decision's really a biatch.
*
ok, I will be less fanboy mode here.

m43 is small. But its not small as your s90. So u still won't bring m43 everywhere like s90. in the end, u'll just bring s90
everywhere while using m43 for more serious photography.

but if that's the case, why not got go for 550D? I really think u should go for 550D.

Well, next is NEX. I think lack of button is not an issue. Lens underwhelm is an issue.

To me, 550D to u is the best. NEX since its smaller than m43 with wideangle 16mm, I think its better.

Ur choice would likely be NEX or 550D... unless of course, u like m43 because of Olympus for Image Stabilizer... tongue.gif

Yeah.. I love compacts to death for the carry everywhere capability... especially the S90 and frankly, I'm considering getting another camera mainly because of samurai1337's poisonous flikr!!!!  vmad.gif

However, the size also cannot be too big cos the only time that I really have for tangkap gambar is on biz trips etc ... and for these, I cannot pack a dslr.
*
ooo0ooo... if samurai poison u, u just get the same setup as samurai tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hi tai kor tai kor sekalian,

My friend is looking to buy a camera for her food blog. She wants to take pics similar to what dslr is capable to capture.

She wants to get Panasonic GF1. She's asking me to give some opinions. But I'm not familiar with micro four thirds system.

So wanna ask, is the camera suitable for food photography? What lens needed for that purpose? And price of the lens?
*
hi bro. You come to the right place...

She need a GF1 + 20mm f/1.7 combo. It'll take a very very very nice food for blog.... do ask her to come to our forum and
we'll show her some nice picture.. smile.gif

QUOTE(samurai1337 @ Jun 1 2010, 04:57 AM)
20mm f/1.7 is the lens for Micro Four Thirds camera! It's just a bit lonely now, the system needs more decent fast lenses, which I'm afraid we need to wait

A native-m43 remake of the even more poisonous Panasonic Leica Summilux 25mm f/1.4 is welcome biggrin.gif
*

I think the answer is no, especially you would need OIS for zoom lens on GF1

If you don't mind the range of 45-200mm, Panasonic has one native m43 lens
*
Agree... for GF1, only 50-200mm lens from Pana is the best.

QUOTE(Wuahaha @ Jun 1 2010, 03:06 PM)
Or he can wait for Olympus 14-150mm for m43, but dunno the price though ... hmm.gif

hmmmm so u guys recommend the 50-200mm?
i was kinda trying to save up for the 14- 140mm one instead for a wide range of 28-280mm
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0903/09030314...c14-140mmhd.asp
*
but u lose the reason why u buying m43...

50-200mm or 14-140mm is big....

I think u should get at least 1 pancake like Oly 17mm f/2.8 or Pana 20mm f/1.7 .. then either get 50-200mm or 14-140mm..

I hope you have put pancake into ur consideration.. its a must for m43...

let's hope Sony damage m43 sales and m43 (Oly and Pana) will lowered down their price to compete...

but normally body price is lowered, but lens price stays... sweat.gif

If i collect RM1 each time i answer this question on my blog, i prolly can buy myself a piece of land already. I’m using an Olympus PEN EPL-1 as of now. Of course, knowing how to use Photoshop helps a lot too.

QUOTE(obee @ Jun 18 2010, 12:33 PM)
Hi guys,

Been following this thread for some time now. Contemplating between getting a m4/3 camera and a DSLR. I'm a total noob in photography so be patient with me sweat.gif

I love traveling, so compact body and great IQ is my top preference which points to m4/3 system.
But in terms of long-term investment and IQ satisfaction, DSLR is a strong choice.
With a budget of around RM2500, I've narrowed down to a couple of choices (E-PL1, GF1, G2, EOS 550D to name a few).

Hope you sifus in here can help me decide which to invest on smile.gif
*
if you're not thinking of going pro, just getting m43 like E-PL1 is already very good for travelling. Next time, when you're
ready to indulge more in photography, then you buy Canon 550D. That way, you have m43 for travelling, and 550D for
serious photography. E-PL1 is more worth than 550D because E-PL1 can easily lugged everywhere while 550D will only
sit in your cupboard.

Believe me. you want an E-PL1 ..

lol The Nissin Di466 can only tilt up and down,thus no swivel head smile.gif

So, it isn't possible to do bounce flash at an angle to the left/right ,just up and down sad.gif

*
NEX3/5 don't have built in stabilizer. It is a failed product.
