Guys.. just curious how come not many folks here using GH1 or G2?

My 2 cents

GH1:
Because it resembles DSLR, and most of the m43 adopters prefer a range-finder styled camera. And it's relatively expensive, might as well go for Nikon D90 / Canon 550D. No doubt, it's image quality and high ISO handling is a class above other m43 cameras though

G2:
Same reason as GH1, and plus I'm not too sure if it's widely available yet

Oh i see...meaning that Both the Samsung NX and Sony NEX series are definitely better than M43 right?

NX10 is priced around the same as EOS 550D 550D still beats the NX10 and Sony NEX series right?

In Taiwan.... GH1 price fall until cheaper than E-PL1. Like that worth it ker?

So... to summarise.... Oly over-priced here... Panny makes sense.. just the m43 sensor size.. NEX makes sense (2 lens kit and case closed)... just the lack of buttons and underwhelming lens. 550D is heavy and biggest black black hole potential since it'll scream for better lenses.

As for the Samsung.. korean eat dogs so I dun consider them

Yeah.. I love compacts to death for the carry everywhere capability... especially the S90 and frankly, I'm considering getting another camera mainly because of samurai1337's poisonous flikr!!!! 

However, the size also cannot be too big cos the only time that I really have for tangkap gambar is on biz trips etc ... and for these, I cannot pack a dslr.

  after market AF assist beam seems good but hopefully Oly update their firmware to support AF assist
for external flash (doubt so...). Just like wasting my Di466

My friend is looking to buy a camera for her food blog. She wants to take pics similar to what dslr is capable to capture.

She wants to get Panasonic GF1. She's asking me to give some opinions. But I'm not familiar with micro four thirds system.

So wanna ask, is the camera suitable for food photography? What lens needed for that purpose? And price of the lens?

Nothing sucks about the Ollie Pancake just that the Panny Pancake perform better and can open aperture up to 1.7 vs 2.8...
Usually people who say any lense sucks is because they don't know how to fully utilized it...

20mm f/1.7 is the lens for Micro Four Thirds camera! It's just a bit lonely now, the system needs more decent fast lenses, which I'm afraid we need to wait

A native-m43 remake of the even more poisonous Panasonic Leica Summilux 25mm f/1.4 is welcome

I think the answer is no, especially you would need OIS for zoom lens on GF1

If you don't mind the range of 45-200mm, Panasonic has one native m43 lens

Or he can wait for Olympus 14-150mm for m43, but dunno the price though ...

Hi guys,

Been following this thread for some time now. Contemplating between getting a m4/3 camera and a DSLR. I'm a total noob in photography so be patient with me

I love traveling, so compact body and great IQ is my top preference which points to m4/3 system.
But in terms of long-term investment and IQ satisfaction, DSLR is a strong choice.
With a budget of around RM2500, I've narrowed down to a couple of choices (E-PL1, GF1, G2, EOS 550D to name a few).

Hope you sifus in here can help me decide which to invest on

lol The Nissin Di466 can only tilt up and down,thus no swivel head

So, it isn't possible to do bounce flash at an angle to the left/right ,just up and down

Strange thing you didn't mention Sony's NEX3/5  Compact with a DSLR Image Quality,doesn't this totally fits your requirements?
