quite normal de. in fact spraying top coat too thick, or too many layers might coz the color become lighter. But most of the time the color fade is due to frosting.

however, sometime I do full use this color fade effect to lighten my post shading in case I accidentally apply too dark color on it. (Note: applicable to white color part only)

not only become fade, the panel line become like 'comot' also
i dont think frosting cause that hmm.gif

Is there any tips for samuel decal because for some reason when i put it in water, it instantly leave the decal backing. (or this just normal ?)  sweat.gif
*
it is normal

coz you need only the decal itself to slide on surface
be careful some water slide decal are really fragile

Hi sifus,

I would like to ask one question. I ordered the Kotobukiya Danbo Model Kit, and it does not come with the silver parts painted (the small round silver at the front and the switch part at the side - shown in pictures below):

My question is, can I use Gundam Marker (Silver) to colour it? Or MUST I use paint (like Mr. Hobby)?

First time doing this..thanks!
*
Tamiya Chrome Silver can do the job

What about the Gundam Marker (Silver)? So far I can find the Gundam Marker but I cannot find the Tamiya Marker lol..that's why I'm hoping if I can use the Gundam Marker..

Please advise. Thanks!
*
Gundam Marker less shiny than Tamiya one..
Tamiya one is enamel base so it is more easier to clean if got mess

hello sifu,

i need some help :

1. If i straight build and thinking to perform flat top coat, should i panel lining 1st before top coat?

2. Can i still apply sticker, water decal or dry transfer after top coat?
*
no, you need to apply lining, sticker and decal first before topcoat
because the rough surface after flat topcoat wont make it stick on kit

You do need to mix with lacquer thinner (not sure if other type of thinner can) because out of the bottle the paint is quite rough. I usually mix about 1:2 ratio.

i see.. thanks notworthy.gif

Just curios what kind of paint is good for hand painting, need some advice from sifu. I currently using lacquer paint but found it is not easy to apply which is when I apply 2nd layer it will remove the previous layer that I applied earlier... I think it is cause by leveling thinner or maybe my problem because I not familiar with hand painting  sad.gif . Other than that I also don't like the glossy finish by lacquer paint
*
practice make prefect
i also do hand paint since i dont have AB.. i like to use lacquer paint because the finishing/surface is better than other type of paint

from what i make, you need to make different ratio for mixing lacquer thinner with different paint such as metallic paint and normal paint
slowly apply with hand brush, wait it for dry and reapply the layer if too thin

some motivation for you(this is my first hand painted kit)

Looks nice but still too glossy on the gun  tongue.gif  But not a problem because can use flat top coat as Khai62 mentioned. Btw have you try enamel paint before? I heard it is good for hand painting also.
*
i only try Tamiya enamel black for reverse washing..
not sure about other color..

it have a better thinner mix ratio so more easy to hand paint compared to lacquer paint
