oh ya i got more question,

1. for spray painting, it is better to do inside or outside?
2. i think the image below both use the same gundam marker, but how come one looks sharp & slim but the other dull & fat?
3. for the image below, can someone tell that do the builder repaint the 00 Qan[T]? or top coat matte only?
4. if i top coat matte on clear parts, will it lose the transparancy?

Thanks again
*
1.spray painting should do outside unless you got spray booth and air brush
2.because on the 2nd pic you didnt wipe the panel line yet.. can use your finger or cotton bud to clean the smudge panel line
3.that is remodel kit.. the modeller make extra panel line scribe and repainting it
4.yes, it will be like smoked part.. recommended to remove the part or masking it before you top coat

thanks for the suggesiton...
yeah. basic rules of good finishing is always to have many thin layers..
could anchor be the best ?

another question, altho its a bit obvious...
some painted models i see have kinda shiny inner frames..
are those normal paint with gloss finish?
it really looks like its made of metal/steel..

this is what i paint with industrial paint(Anchor) and Gaia Color
silver and gold do give you metal like paint look

well, I dont like the idea of painting silver layer before clear color
as I do try it before and it looks.. weird

I will experiment on runner first before proceed, the layer I will make thin as far as I can, maybe will get the color I want other than clear green...
something look closer like this will do

hand painting is only for small part/minor detail
why bother to paint entirely on kit?

there are cheap air brush less than RM200.. why dont go for that? besides, you can paint in long shot without risk to ruin the kit

i paint the entire kit, sinanju, the big guy
air brush for less than 200? but i have no air brushing skills
*
this is the excuse for lazy guys, the AB ia not hard to learn; just push the tip of pen, adjust the pressure etc... etc
dont tell me you paint straightly paint on kit without test on runner first?

let me tell you, I starting to hand painting since 2011
I gonna list the experience I have

-some paint turn out dont stick well on surface, like lacquer gold and white
-different paint,different thinner-paint ratio..
-brush stroke, it is so frustrating
-uneven surface.. I used lacquer and enamel paint.. most of time screwed

hand painting however useful for painting for small detail part which spray can and airbrush couldnt reach

You can't discourage people by saying that, Hand painting can be very tedious but if you have the patience, end result can be satisfying as well. I know a few who hand paint very well like the HK fella who modded the sazabi into a horse, fully hand painted.
*
I know but it is very hard to maintain good result sad.gif

oh I see
so its 50-50 then

last time hand painted with lacquer(Gaianotes) the inner frame for Zaku 2.0
the part broke by itself

but with lacquer spray can, nothing happened
I guess must be the paint-thinner ratio problem

Good point there. I guess the lacquer spray can is Samurai paint because last time you post about their clear paint, but not yet see your result using that as top coat. sad.gif
*
Anchor and Samurai paint actually since I only use both brand
hmm, not sure if I post this before

this is what its look with Samurai paint flat coat
