he call pull his socks up next season and beyond...but looking at his strange love-hate relationship with Rafa...perhaps it wont take a lot to cause a big fiasco...and pull the club further down...

anyway, lets not get too involved with this love-hate relationship ... tongue.gif

Am looking forward to the outcome of Rafa's showdown with the directors..
*
I don't see there is love-hate relationship in between Gerrard and Rafa.
Rafa likes Steve G. He is still the first choice player as long as he's fit to play.
No problem.

What's worrying is the inconsistent performance of Steve G.

in this retrospec, I may have to say venables may be right that gerrard must make a decision to leave liverpool since $$$ can bring some into liverpool to buy reinforcements. his heart may be at liverpool but at such situation I will understand he is & will not leave because LFc is in a turmoil but more so in him leaving we can generate to rebuild. (in my mind gerrard is worth 3 workrate of a player)

torres cant leave, as much as he can generate a lot of $$$$$ (likes of RM, man city & even manU are willing buyers) but he is young to see the reincarnation of liverpool. that includes reina too.

let the process of rebuilding begin. rafa, gerrard & I hope the bloody yanks
*
Gerrard is still the BEST player we can rely on. Aquaman is still unproven *yet*.

I thought in last couple of matches he sort of like becoming anonymous I shifted most of my attention to Aquilani instead. He has alot to redeem himself if he wanted to get back to that talisman (marvel) cult status.
*
I beg to differ.
I find he's doing quite ok recently.
I thought "Stevie is back!!" when we hammered 4-0 against Burnley.
I missed long range thunderous strike of Stevie G.

Yeap, he spend a lot money and buy alot players. Most of the players is price is not high. So meaning, high spending with high quantity. Base on spending is ok, bcoz u spend more and get more. But those players we bought in cant contribute much. Imagine u spend 30mil and buy about 10 or more players. But these players doesn't make impact. So that's go 30Mil. If with 30Mil, bought 2 players and they did contribute then is OK. Players like Torres is a good example.
We did spend and buy players but so far we didn't see them in action, then why on the first place we buy them? But this season, is ok, we spend big only on few players. Johson not bad, Aqua also ok only need time.
Actually we also can't blame the Yanks much, Rafa also need to responsible. Over the years, he had given money to spend. Can I say Rafa didn't utlize the money well? of course we can't have every year big money to spend. At least we qualify to CL over last few years, so break even? But his season how? next season how? Are we going like Leeds?
*
We spent alot of "accumulated" money.
We don't have big lum sum like 40-50 millions to spend.
We needed to sell players to sign new players and with that we slowly accumulated "a lot of money".

When we don't have huge sum of money, we can only sign those 5 millions, 10 millions rated players.
If we want to sign those 20-million-rated player, we could only sign ONE player during the season, that's Aquaman and Torres.
We didn't even have 30 million to spend.

Can you sign world class players with 5-10 millions of budget?

Again, as said many times, the pre-requisite factor is the new stadium to generate more money and better merchanside sale  to generate profit. Without, it is almost impossible to compete and spend big in transfer market to bring in good players.

A new bigger stadium and better financial situation will be the key for the future of the club.
*
It's either
big stadium with fat revenue
OR
rich boss.

Most of the clubs opt for rich boss nowadays. It's faster and more efficient to get money. Ask and shall be given.

Can't be arsed to track back, but Alonso worth at most 10-12m? What a joke! laugh.gif

Compared to the amount they spent on Kaka, Alonso was so much more undervalued!
*
Let's be fair.
Player like Kaka is in a different category.
Player like Kaka has been named in FIFA World Player of the Year.
Alonso is nowhere close to that level.

Don't forget, Alonso had been crap for many years at Liverpool.
Real signed Alonso for 30millions pound? I personally think it's a bloody good deal.

P/S Did we get 30million to spend on new players (after selling Alonso)?

What really gets to me is that the media, and MU fans easily look pass their own manager's failures in the transfer market, but amplify the ones that Rafa makes(which are few and far apart).
Veron for 30mil?
Berbatov for 30 mil?
Please..
*
They are blinded by trophies in the past 15 years.
So, i think it's okay.

now all media are writing off rafa, blame him to the failure this season,BPL is getting stronger every year and we can see the teams like ManCity, spurs spending money to strengthen their squad. No offend to Arsenal fans , yea Arsenal spend less than us but what they got in last 5 years for a big club?

so far for me the Rick Parry replacement is doing well on his job, getting alot of fresh sponsors, able to extend few players contract although I still dont have any idea about Aurelio case.
*
Go check the facts.
Man City / Tottenham / Aston Villa had spent more than Liverpool in the past 3-4 years.

we sell Arbeloa and Alonso 30M + 6M = 36M

so we get back Aquilani 20M + 18M =38M

that mean the 2 stupid yanks didnt give any fund to Rafa this season

QUOTE(Something Else @ May 5 2010, 01:06 AM)
Yes we have plenty of world class players. This season, however..injuries has played a huge part in our poor form. Imagine United without Rooney for more than half the season. This season has f***ed us over in terms of injuries. Torres, Gerrard, Agger, Skrtel, Benayoun, Aquilani and Glen Johnson have all been injured for extended periods of time. Thats almost half of our first team right there.

The bottomline is, our squad isn't good enough. When you look at our bench, we have babel, el zhar, ngog and pachecho. Now look at Chelsea's bench. Look at MU's bench. Hell, even City has a better bench than us. Our first team is good enough to defeat any team in the world on our day, even barca. Our subs however, needs to be improved.
*
We need to sell Alonso to get money.
We could only sign a half-cacat "world class" player at 20m (pay by installment?).
We don't even have money to buy bench warmers.

Want to attract world class bench warmers?
It's very easy. We need 60-80millions of transfer fund. Increase the wage by 200-300%.
Players like Michael Owen, Tevez would be happy to warm the bench.
See how many "world class" bench warmers at Real Madrid.

P/S Is Peter Crouch a bench warmer at Tottenham?

IMO , injuries and referees are the lame excuse for a team failure, I believe every team will encounter this 2 every season.Just looks on our bench most of the season,

Cavialieri-3M if no mistaken
Ayala-youth product from Spain
Kelly-academy product
Babel-11.5M
Ngog-1.5M
Aquilani-20M
Degen-free
Krygiakos-3M
pacheco-youth product from Spain
*
I think the main reasons are the injuries and inconsistent form of our big names.

As usual, we sign class-C players and expect class-A performance.

I heard Thierry Henry is leaving Barca.
He could be a good addition.

Joe Cole (the Liverpool killer) is a good addition too.

His contract expires by the end of the season. It's going to be free transfer if he doesn't renew his contract.

QUOTE(leftist @ May 10 2010, 02:35 AM)
Jack Robinson became Liverpool's youngest ever player when he came on against Hull City on Sunday aged 16 years and 250 days.

The Warrington-born defender broke a record set by Max Thompson, who made his debut at the age of 17 years and 129 days in 1974.

Though Robinson replaced Ryan Babel on the left of midfield at Hull, his natural position is at full-back.

He first trained with Rafael Benitez's first team ahead of our Europa League clash with Benfica in March.

"Jack was okay," the boss told us after that session. "He was a little bit shy at first, a little bit quiet.

"But the senior players were helping and supporting him. The first training session is never easy but little by little he was better."

Remarkably, Robinson hasn't even figured for the Reserves yet - though he has been one of the stars of Rodolfo Borrell's U18 team this term.

His main attributes are his determination and an ability to get forward and produce the goods in the final third.

Some nice news to share smile.gif

Wayne Rooney's schoolboy record of scoring 72 goals in a season has been broken by 11-year-old Gerard Garner.

The Liverpool Boys star equalled Rooney's record from the 1996/97 season - achieved with the same team - with two matches left to play.

He then broke it with a goal in the North West Cup Final against Macclesfield before ending his season with a hat-trick against Wirral to sign off a 76-goal season.

"I never thought I would get anywhere near the record at the start of the season," said Garner. "I didn't even know there was one until much later!"

The incredible season has helped his side win all 39 of their matches this season, with the star player himself notching eight hat-tricks as they collected an astonishing nine trophies. Among those hat-tricks he scored four in a match on three occasions and five twice.

The Kirkby-born left-footer attended the same school as Rooney - Our Lady & St Swithun's primary school in Croxteth - and is heading to the same secondary school in September, and is already being tipped to follow the Rooney path to a glorious career.

Yet the lifelong Liverpool fan - who signed for the club at age six - actually prefers Spanish striker Fernando Torres to the England talisman.

"Wayne is a great player and I enjoy watching him," he explained.

"But I have been signed up by the Liverpool Academy and really like Fernando Torres.

"For me, he is my sort of striker and I love to watch him play and score."

And despite his exploits, the boy they nickname 'Jazza' still has his size-five boots well and truly on the ground.

"I'm only part of a team and I want to thank my team-mates for helping me break the record, and those who coached me," he added. "I couldn't have done it without them."
