ngog jus not qualified at our 1st 11. He cant read the game from gerrard, benny and kuyt. Maybe torres cause a huge impact for me for striker position. as usual the lucas and masherano partner.

1-0, to be honest is not a bad result, neither it is a good one. It was an okay away performance considering it was 2 days after West Ham (Why the hell was it being played on a Monday night anyway? shakehead.gif ) and hours of travelling.

If you ask me, Atletico was pretty sloppy at times and considering it's a home game with a brilliant atmosphere, they had only 4 genuine chances throughout the game. They will need to do a lot better at Anfield to stop us. Not that I'm taking things for granted, because we were indeed sloppy and Aguero will be back. But I'm confident we have a good chance of making to the finals.

If there was any positive from last night's game, it's Pepe Reina. Player of the season. flex.gif

Both teams were rubbish. Forlan's goal was a comedy finish after comedy defending from Kyrgiakos.

2DM (Mascherano + Lucas) + 1 striker is not going to work in away games.

Repeated repeated posted........

Tired on criticising on this issue.

Win 4 away matches for the entire season since start of season already speak out.

After trailing, and Liv needs to search for an away goal, still no place for Aqualani.

Fulham looks got better chance of winning Europa cup.

Well, so are we. Can't complain much about the scoreline, their keeper can walk to the cafe and have a cup of coffee during the game and still not concede. Not a single save to make.

Their keeper can slwoly enjoy the coffee for the entire match, because shot on target is zero from Liv. laugh.gif doh.gif

Well, Ath Madrid didn't look any better either. For the second half, they looks like deploying time-wasting tactics and although they do attack, they spent most of their time on field, rolling on the pitch.Didn't expect a home side to play this kind of football in front of their supporters.Every 2-3 minutes, there is one player lying on floor, holding his leg or ankle.

ath madrid was poor, but our display made them look a little better. countless stray passes that went straight to ath players or out of play, that has been the situation all season.

come to think of it, had carra been a little bit more composed he could've hooked the ball away before it passes the goal line, instead of hurling himself onto the ball via overhead kick sytle and made no contact. it's just poor defending overall, not just soto.

of all the travelling teams in european competitions this week, only fulham came away with a credible result as they held hamburg to a 0-0 draw. barca and lyon both lost as well, and if anyone asks me now i believe losing 1-0 only isn't all that bad. in fact, the worry now goes to the long journey back and the match against burnley on sunday. players will have little time to rest, let alone train, and against another relegation-threatened team, we're bound to have to grind out another result.

let's just be glad that we only lost by a narrow margin after a bad showing, and hope that we turn the tide (again) in the return leg.

i'm sure plenty of us have told me that N'gog is just a backup striker and has scored plenty of goals already.. but even after watching all his goals again, i still think he's not good enaf to be our backup striker let alone to play in Torres role... better play with barros, sinama, cisse, bellamy or voronin.

Ngog scored 7-8 goals this season from a couple of start and lot of substitute. I would say, about average.

You can't expect him to do "Torres" to create something out of nothing, or score goal out of nowhere. As Rafa always play lone strike upfront, and most match especially away match with 2 DM + lone striker, so upfront can have little support.

When upfron has little support and creative passes from midfielder, no striker can flourish, except some brilliant and magic moment through some special player like Torres.

I don't think it is fair to criticise the striker (like Ngog in last night match), when midfielders can't string a few passes around, not to mention threatening opponent with some forwards, creative passes.

His shooting skill and accuracy might need more improvement, if want to be estalished striker. But a lot of occassion, especially seeing those misses by him, just highlight at least he knows how to get into the position to score.

Again if the team plays poorly, everyone should be blamed including managers, it is not right to find spacegoat from one or two. Playing lone striker and with little support and able to perform well is not something a lot striker can do one. Even Torres sometimes looks poor, and always being kicked around.

It could be tactic fault, manager fault as well.

Hmm, is it me or UEFA's feed sucks. Barely can hear the sound and fans singing. The commentator said the stadium was lively with people singing and all, i saw people jumping around with others but it sounded like the stadium was deserted. Europa and CL btw.

Weak placement of mics perhaps?

Nope is on the bench list.

Gerrard were poor as normal. Giving the ball away and doesnt seems to be interested if the ball is not with any of our player.

Babel - came in but didnt make a lot of difference. Well except for the through pass to Kuyt where Kuyt touch were too strong.

Overall we were poor but I guess traveling from Liverpool to Spain must have been exhausted most of our player.

The worst performance have to go to the commentator. Cant believe he is saying Kyrgiakos on the right crossing when he is still in the middle of the field rclxub.gif

As for Benayoun goal, I thought is a valid goal but didnt watch the replay but I guess it should be offside as no one bother to complain to the ref.
