Best to get tea is at Jalan Sultan. Chan see temple and selangor complex got a few tea shop inside with reasonable price

Does anyone know where to get awesome quality green tea in Penang or Malaysia?

All I see in stores are those bagged ones, which are generally just dusts of green tea. I'm looking for the leafy types, or as unprocessed as possible.

Thanks!

if japanes green tea then can try Hojo at the Garden beside Mid Valley.

if chinese green tea, The curve, Legend of tea (gu yi chai)'s bi luo chun seems not bad...

if u r afford to pay expensive price and want something really good then try Long Jin in Tacha,Kepong...~rm290/50g...i like it very much but can't afford to buy...

Finally I order a drink that cost RM8 and I must say the puer taste is quite bland. Either the water is not hot enough or the tea leaves is of poor quality. I can get better tea bag at hypermarket than this.

Hi,

Not and expert yet but still at infancy level but i can share my experience if you dont mind smile.gif

I had my fair share of experience purchasing 5 to 8 teapots ranging from RM50 to RM300. They are all claimed as zhi sha. I have to admit acquiring them bring some self satisfaction but when i look deeper i asked a question. What does the teapot do? Does it help to enhanced the flavour of the tea? At the end I can only come to a conclusion, they all comes out the same regardless of which tea pot the tea came out from.

Feeling disappointed, I continue my search for a better tea pot that can truely help to enhance the flavour of the tea. Over the journey, i found many tea pot some very expensive but still it didnt help to make the tea better.

Things came to a change when i went to Hojo mid valley recently. They introduced me a Sado Clay teapot. Its no where near cheap. Each of them are sold at RM680. The tea that was prepared using this tea pot make the tea very sweet. The sweetness actually lingers around the mouth and throat. I must admit i was quite sceptical before. I have always this prejudice that things sold at up market shopping center are often slapped with a hefty price tag and comes with a so so quality. But this experience totally changed me.

You can go try it out yourself to know the differences. The staff there are very helpful. They even let me try many of their teas. As a puer lover (mostly raw), they recommended me a few. But i find them taste the same as those i already had at home. The boss Hojo then introduced me another two puer

1. Xiu Lin Wu Hao Raw Puer - RM100 (200g Cake)

2. Bai Ying Shan Raw Puer 2008 - RM128 (100g pAck)

These two puers has the sweetness that i have not tasted before. I'm totally stunned. Infact the one that stunt me was not the second one. Its the first one " XIU LIN YU HAO". I'm totally tea drunk. Hojo told me the puer was over fried due to technical error. Due this nature the farmers are selling them very cheap and he bought at large quantity as the quality of the tea was so good.

Go have a try and share your experience.

If u all wish to know how different chinse made zisha pot will bring out the tea, then go tacha kepong, u can ask the boss to try n test out there, can also try their tea. Their raw pu erh is worth trying better than hojo in my opinion for the similar price product.

The thing I don't like about Hojo is their online price is cheaper than their shop in the Gardens. Ppl buy abroad cheaper than us buying it here. So, I no longer go there

Added on October 30, 2012, 3:02 pmAnd ya... if want to learn about teapot...Tacha is quite a good place to hangout. No stress to buy there

i lepak alot at yong hen siang. learned a few tricks of the trade about teapots. not too interested in pottery yet, coz still alot to learn about harvesting good tea leaves from experienced people.

and in every province u go to in china, the expression of tea art is different. so i'm still learning the manners of drinking chinese tea in a proper way. most of them do not practise tapping after pouring. only prob m'sia and hong kong and some small parts of china.

we normally tap with 2 fingers using the right hand. some will use the middle (like knocking the door style) to symbolise they kneel down to you after being served as a sign of respect.

most northern region of china expecially heilongjiang area will hold the teacup with 2 open hands and u be served.

so much proper manners to learn. which i feel is a good thing also lor.

After week...of reading...finally finish from page 1 to page 127....
really learn a lot from here..thanks for all sifu's sharing.

i cannot tahan and bought the teapot adi...with some others accessories..

The pot pass the 3 test shared by sifu auhckw.
the last test on pouring the water out in less than 10 seconds (without leaves)failed by extra 1-3secs.

And i used sifu auhckw share again to open a new pot...

Normally i tap with 2 fingers on my right hand.
but i do it when they are pouring.
Now only i know to tap after they served.

i asked that question to a few tea sifu from guangzhou before.

reason is simple, they told me as they pouring and serving u, if u tap like that means they pour too slow. so the sign of tapping with your 2 fingers is like asking them to hurry the f*ck up and finish pouring.

so the more proper way is to tap or knock once when they about to pour, and then after finish only baru tap/knock again.
