QUOTE(auhckw @ Apr 30 2011, 10:45 PM) Purple Cane is having members sale from 18% to 35% until 04/05/2011. According to them, member sale is only once a year. For normal days, they will only give 5% to 20% discount for members. 2 years back is 55% discount if not mistaken. Really worth it when buying teapot. That time already tasted the Meng Qing tea and immediately can tell it undergone mild wet storage. I ask the sales girl about the storage location and she said Hong Kong. They tried to promote Meng Qing Round Tea raw puerh. They said though it is 2008, but it is specially stored to let it age faster. I gave it a try. Colour of the tea looks like age tea, but I don't like it cause it has obvious Wet stored and the Storage ('chang') smell. Tasted geli to me. Wasn't feeling comfortable at my throat. Usual price RM250. Promo price RM125 /beeng. If buy 1 toong = RM700. No thank you... |

Last time I went to Subang and the tea shop owner now jaga the shop since all his staff resigned. Pity him. As for Lao Chan, I think they going to close down soon..Another tea shop in Kepong bites the dust. |

QUOTE(auhckw @ May 4 2011, 02:33 PM) Just came back from Teali, and according to them, people are buying most/all of their Dayi recently. They only have very few left (on the shelf). I am not surprised as tea prices of Dayi will goes up this year. Few weeks ago, Teali mentioned that they will not import Dayi this year due to high price over in China. As for me, I can always go for other tea like Xiaguan and Mengku. I have not been buying Dayi since 09.They said Dayi pricing is increasing fast and speculation has already begun... New year product is more expensive that the older year same recipe. Prices are changing nearly everyday. |

QUOTE(auhckw @ May 4 2011, 07:59 PM) Teali was having Sea Dkye Lao-Chung-Shui-Hsien 2010. They selling RM15. Sold out in 2 months. Ppl sapu. No more stock except Sample. Tried it, quite nice. Not too roasted. RM15 is really cheap. I think this stock might be from collector who want to get rid of fast. The tea expo price also more expensive. This shui hsien is worth collecting as there are ppl who owned 20yr ++ version and now turns out great. I just havent got the chance to drink it.Anyway, they are ordering 2011, should be coming soon... |

Late 90s. Less than RM50 for 350g. You have to ask them as I dun think they display it. Anyway, you can try first b4 buying. Ask them to show you how to brew it. Boil to drink. Will not work well with teapot.

Buy aged tea and drink. If you keep new tea, it is only for your future generation since they are the one be drinking it. Puer tea need at least 50 year to be fully aged. This is an advice from a tea master

QUOTE(auhckw @ May 18 2011, 10:36 AM) I'm going down Ipoh for roadshow next week (Wed to Sat), any Ipoh tea kaki around??? I heard there is few tea shop and there is 1 'lat chiu chai' owner who is famous for his liubao... not sure where. The shop name is Ta Tung. Located near to Sri Maju bus station in the roundabout. Newer liu bao tea he sells by weigh. Old tea he sell by whole basket. Tat is about RMxxxxx each Added on May 18, 2011, 11:03 am QUOTE(auhckw @ May 18 2011, 10:35 AM) Longrun is selling it. When he first started few years ago, he used to have a few KG, but sold out instantly. On his recent visit to his friend/supplier (in penang), he managed to find out there is still a little more. I think less than 1KG. So he brought back. Ok. Liu Ann stick actually is tiekuanying leftover. In the old days, tea makers cut off the stick (branch) and sell the tiekuanying leaves. Since they dun want to waste the stick, they process it as liu ann. Usually these tea comes from HK. I drank these before but not so old..70s version. His LiuAn is LiuAn stick... maybe that is cheaper compared to the one you mentioned? This post has been edited by cuebiz: May 18 2011, 11:03 AM |

QUOTE(PSG-1 @ May 18 2011, 11:35 AM) *raises hand" There are a few tea shops here but dedicated tea shops (not those traditional herb shop selling tea) here are very few. Even if there is, the variety is far less compared to tea shops in KL or Penang. His nick already gives you the clue. He is in the chili business. Go there at 2pm..Will open by then. Dedicated tea shop there very few as people there only drinks luk po.But from what I know, the shop owner has other business running as well, that's y the shop is closed most of the time. In fact, whenever I passed by that shop, it's always closed. |

QUOTE(blueye @ May 18 2011, 04:15 PM) What about The Mall? One of my best tea session was a short 60mins with a veteran in tea. I hear ppl want to drink with him have to make appointment correct ke? No la, he busy taking care grandchildren. No more liao. now taken over over by pretty girl team He is the first person who teach me how to ping aka 品 chinese tea. I miss that day. Added on May 19, 2011, 9:16 am QUOTE(auhckw @ May 18 2011, 02:43 PM) I heard his story was he started with chilli supplier biz to restaurant. At that time, he hasn't sell LiuBao yet but he likes to drink it. When he goes supplies chili to shops, he would ask whether they got stock tea. If yes, he will buy all without even tasting it and dump it to his lorry. It takes courage and luck to get into this business. You can read some of the story in the book published by KL tea society. It is in chinese but you can always ask someone to translate. This post has been edited by cuebiz: May 19 2011, 09:16 AM |
