Not easy to spot real and fake sticker unless you seen them before. I also kena before buying a 7572 Dayi. Bought one box from Purple Cane and a few tongs from China shop realised it is fake after doing a comparison with the sticker. Even though fake, the tea is as good as Dayi since 7572 is a familar tea to me. Best way to avoid fake is buy from trusted seller and not those from China who opened tea shop here unless you know them well.

according to internet, since 2006, Menghai start using national standard secure sticker. The protection line should be in red color.

mind to share yours? so we can learn how to identify the real product sticker.

nice share  nod.gif  i also like shui xian alot. have to visit after CNY liao~~

i get to know Tea-Li from internet search. they selling low/mid range tea. btw, i  though selling expensive pirated tea only make money? low grade no need to fake gua.

one of my friend told me that what they doing is to speed up the fermented process. they put the tea on the high building which have very good air flow.

from time to time they pour water on the tea. and then selling you at higher prices as old tea. shakehead.gif

looks like USJ uncle selling good staff also.. what is the the cheapest thing in his shop? wakaka..so i go in buy cheap thing and cheat tea to drink.  whistling.gif

Most of the pirated tea out there are usually Dayi and Xiaguan cause they are branded and can command higher price compared to other brands. Small tea producer will capitalise on the profit by using these 2 brands wrapping. Tea-Li sells a lot of Dayi and Xiaguan at lower prices and probably pissed off the big boys here.

There are many ways to make a tea to ferment faster. If you are experince drinker, you can easily know once it is in your mouth. Msia tea community is very small. If there is a shop selling fakes, I can assured you it will tapau very soon cause word of mouth is very powerful here.

USJ uncle is a friendly chap. No need to buy anything also can. Just go in look see at his stuff and he probably ask you wat tea you want. If you are new to him, he probably ask you to try his 'own' brand tea which is shuang tian and it is quite a good tea.

Just sharing. For genuine Dayi tea, this is how the sticker should look like under UV light:

user posted image  user posted image
But again, u probably won't carry a UV light wif u nor will the shop provide it, right? tongue.gif

Anyway, I think it's trickier to identify those produced before 2006.
*
Very cool. Didnt realise using UV light. I dun think I will go to the extend using this method when selecting Dayi tea. biggrin.gif
You are right on those tea before 2006. Sometimes, using the Dayi tea reference book also no use cause there are too many private orders and they are not listed in there.

Most of times you need sharp object to attack tea bricks. I had used saw before to cut them off cause I wanna saved time and effort.

2 weeks ago I was at a teashop where he showed me a pumpkin puerh sized of a kancil car tire. Quite big. It was sawed into few pieces and sold.

The inner of the Pu is so tough. Looks and feels like wood. Year 2001 pu, but the colour brew like 2008 cause too compress.
*
I seen that before. You really need a saw to cut the pumpkin. Usually these type of tea are for deco only and not really for consumption. Most tea shop have it there to adsorb bad odour.

If you drink tea long enough, then you will understand why tea drinker looks for old cups to drink their tea. There are difference.

You will not find much cups at Central Market. My suggestion is you go to Selangor complex. The shop nearest to HaiO still got 80s new tea cups selling RM5 each.

The ideal way for drinking tea is one teapot per tea but as mr. hoko points out it is not practical unless you got lots of $$$$. My take is to choose the right teapot for the tea you gonna brew.

Hope your son has a speedy recovery.

Now back to tea, the other day was at Tea Li Kepong and the boss brew an old red tea in teabag. Drinking great tea while watching the tsunami in Japan unfolds on the TV. Kinda weird experience.

Free Liu Bao!!

i got a liu bao tea from a shop owner.  The tea was passed down from his father seal in bamboo.  At least 50 years  laugh.gif

brows.gif the cup were bundle together with other cups... i think around rm20-30... i think its a deal... according to the online reference its around 1912 tongue.gif
*
I think the tea owner is very kind to give you 50 year old tea for free. Usually they sell by RMxxxx per kg.

For cups, there are always newer replicate. It is only thru drinking that you will know if it is that old. For Rm20-30, it is cheap.

Gossip: JDX plans to sell off his biz. RM10m including his 2 warehouse full of tea. 1 of the warehouse is owned, and 1 rent. Besides that, inclusive of his Tea Van (BKT) biz and transfer of knowledge on China market.
*
Tea business nowadays are not profitable enough to sustain the operational cost. Another tea shop I know also downsizing. Tea-Li also shutting down its branch and so I predict more will be closing down soon.
Only those shops that got aged tea and quality teapots will survive.

According to Tea-li, they say bulk order has become very much less compared to the past few years. They have to downsize and start looking into supplying tea to restaurants.

I think it is logical. Past years buyers have been buying a lot. Now is their waiting time for their stock to age. Storage of theirs could have become limited.

Therefore, less buying = less sale = cannot sustain

Some has said that JDX itself couldn't really sustain on sale of their puerh tea (in the shop) alone. They have good sale on the tea van biz and also their hamper wrapping festive season.
Hello. I'm going in a short while more. Will get back with some updates.
*
Nowadays not many people will buy new tea and store them compare previously as it can't fetch good prices with the now depressed puer market. You can get a 2006 tea with the same price as the 2010 production. If I am the buyer I will get the 06 version.

If JDX is to close their shop business, I really hope they will have lelong sale tongue.gif
