can u feel the heavines? =)

its only about 3KG not that heavy compared to many other 17inch laptops from other PC vendors, for example Dell's Alienware M17X weighs in at 5.3KG(thats heavy)

IMO, its better off without any SP i guess. Macbook screen hardly get scratches unless intentionally wanna leave some marks there.
*
i second this, even the new MBP LCDS are housed in a protective glass enclosure, you can avoid teh glossy feel by not putting the screen directly near a light source

QUOTE(lexcorp @ Jul 23 2010, 08:44 PM)
Overall i'm happy wif my mbp 13 . Very nice and smooth. The most is like the simplicity of Mac. Love it.

But i juz found out that , Mac service is still very bad i mean in M'sia at least. I got a right arrow key problems juz a minor 1 coz it need to apply more pressure to make work.

So brought my Mbp to the mac store to make some minor twitching. And they told me that need to send to service center in singapore la , this and that la. and other store also the same , need to send to service center but its locally. but somehow you have to send your laptop away for at least 4-5 working days.

I'm juz switch to Mac , before this , i'm a Dell users. Dell can get your things fix on the spot. I think thats the best of Dell. Customer service.

Btw i juz got my Mac for not even a week.

I hope apple in M'sia can improve their service in the future.

eh pleaslah how to compete with dell? they sell computers in the hundreds of thousands, their margin is way more, admit malaysians typically will go for the cheapest deal(Dell/Acer), their as-long-can-use-anything-cheap-also-can attitude is the motivating drive, thats why Malaysia is still a second tier market for apple, and singapore is first because of purchasing power, its not that Malaysians are poor its their mentality, comparatively proton and perodua service centers are verywhere, parts can be ordered within one day or on the spot, but BMW and Mercedez Benz need to order the part from BMW or Mercedez Germany, so if your car engine spoil wait for 1 MONTH LA, what to do right? this is nothing new

odd but true, 56 cycles, i do not bring my macbook out often, i'm using it normally, room temperature.
*
again its very subjective, do you do calibration, only charge when its down to less than 10percent? and all the other battery preservation methods? The battery swelling will not make it explode its a standard stop gap measure on all lithium ion battery so that it will not leak or explode pending disposal, this is normal, its a consumable part and even with applecare tehy are many ways of testing it before it could be said that this warrants an exchange why not call applecare and ask them? provide pictures and plead if necessary dong scold them or threaten them talk to them nicely, they might listen or bring it to the nearest service center.

spot on, i'm using the plug-only since is long enough for us. using the extended power plug seems to solve the problem.

thanx, but really nothing can be done if i still prefer to use the plug only version?
*
that involves demolishing all houses to build proper grounding in Malaysia, so that cannot be done. Even in Japan there is no proper grounding.

How do you print things in black and white? I tried googling but I still cant manage to do it. Tried the grayscale method but I dont have that menu. Anyone could help me?

Another thing. I have s a 2 slides per page pdf file. I want to print it in a 4 slides per page portrait mode. Everytime I change it into 4 slides per page in settings, it will automatically change it to landscape. can anyone help me on this?
*
i use the printer driver/utility to do this, much more convenient this way, using a canon pixma 160 for all my printing and scanning needs, my only gripe is that wireless printing over airport express doesnt work.

if already purchased macbook pro online... if i wanted to change HDD or ram can i do it myself with out voiding the warranty? or need to look for machines / epicentre etc.. how much is the charges?
*
it doesnt void the warranty, just that the macbook pro warranty wont cover the upgraded RAM and HDD any longer its the same as installing K&N air filter in your myvi, perodua wont give you warranty on that of course.

yeah I did it on the website and it still costs under 1k for a 128gb ssd.. just that my existing hdd is a 320gb hdd and i wanna change it to ssd. i expect the price will be around +- 1k. -.-

Added on July 29, 2010, 7:04 pm

ok will try to look for it. lol 3.9k for a 128gb ssd? im wondering what super-brand is that.
*
if you havent notice, apple service parts are quite expensive because this things will be covered by original hardware warranty, even your specs in Apple's database will be updated, that is why people DIY this is nothing new ask around.

Yo peeps,

I found out that Mac doesn't delete files straight away. It tends to create a backup file.

For example in my pendrive,

after deleting the files, the disk space does not increase.
When I go to Windows, I can see that the file I deleted wasn't actually deleted...
How ?
*
This is how it works when you delete stuff on your thumbdrive, you must empty your trash, wahlaa instant remedy

it is in NTFS format, go under Disk Utility, select Erase and choose either Mac OSX Extended Journaled or Fat 32
