I think its still ok for the RM500 difference... Im sure apple has those marketing experts and price experts that they think even by this price its still going to attract people to get the MBW for Rm500 cheaper... Not eveyrone does an extensive research so some people will think oh Rm500 cheaper why not...
*
true that especially when they are not really aware why theres a RM500 increase and what it entails:
this is what get for MBP
- external battery indicator
- infrared sensor for apple remote
- SD card slot
- FW800
- Aluminium case wont get scratches easily compared with glossy plastic case
- backlit keyboard
- More rigid and strong compared to plastic
- higher grade panel
- no discolouring white to yellow
- Lighter MBP
- up to 8GB memory

I did my research, but price drop wasn't that significant though. Well, maybe that RM500 is just too much for me. I am getting the MBW for my niece though, and i checked the price, it's RM3099.

Added on May 19, 2010, 4:58 pm

Oh wow, why so serious? I was just merely saying I am disappointed with the price difference when I first bought it, and the revised price few months later. Of course I know the price would depreciate.

Take a chill pill.  laugh.gif
*

ah says the person who is frustrated by the revised pricing. if you notice my reply was merely directing to your price argument,if you knew the reasons for the depreciation you wouldnt be *disappointed* now would you? tongue.gif

i also looking for purchase my first macbook but now was wondering which want is more worth it.. just worry when i brought it then a other new unit is coming out..

if i want to play high graphic game and having boot camp which wan is more suitable for me? macbook pro or macbook white?/
*
get a peeceee seriously, saves you money and all. no point getting mac to play games. If you are still adamant the mBP 13 and macbook pretty much have the same graphic card, so its up to you. Meanwhile for real heavy duty gaming if you choose to do on a mac would be the 2.66 i7 MBP 15 or i5 IMac

oh.. bcos i am new in macbook was wondering y macbook white and pro different around 500 and i compare is almost same spec inside just maybe design is more slim for macbook pro..

looking for some comment before purchase anything..
*
may i say you are lazy then? this was posted by me and quoted by tarvalslain87 just a few pages back

QUOTE(tarvalslain87 @ May 20 2010, 11:05 AM)
Of course there are differences for that RM500 and this is a quote from nimrod

RM500 increase and what it entails:
this is what get for MBP
- external battery indicator
- infrared sensor for apple remote
- SD card slot
- FW800
- Aluminium case wont get scratches easily compared with glossy plastic case
- backlit keyboard
- More rigid and strong compared to plastic
- higher grade panel
- no discolouring white to yellow
- Lighter MBP
- up to 8GB memory

So MBP clearly is a better choice for the RM500 difference...

QUOTE(ah.men9 @ May 24 2010, 06:59 PM)
I have purchased a MBP 13" from apple online store last wednesday,
and on the night the MBP was delivered, my 'G' button was dropped out and I pressed it back other that.
Recently, the 'G' button still keep dropping out, I don't find any strange until today,
I found that the clip under the 'G' has broken, I believe it is a faulty by factory.
What should I do?
Send to Machines or any apple reseller to repair or call Apple Support first?
*I called apple technical support just now, but no one answer the call*
*
go to an apple authorized service centers, there is one near section 14 pj near axcess tickets.

then I try to call apple again tomorrow,
as I'm staying @ wangsa maju, it's hard to go pj 14..
Can't I send it to machines if I purchased from apple online store?
*
can, but ask themlah whats the queue like,if its a longer time then better to send elsewhere. I think in your Case you can argue DOA.

i have called apple after my school.
just for a 'G' button on keyboard, and it took me almost 1 hour to talk to apple again and again.
over 80% of 1 hour was just for WAITING and LISTENING to the songs..=.="
and in the end, told me, web ordering department is closed, have to call them tomorrow again and ask for a replacement on my mbp..

hopefully there is a replacement, it is my first mbp, hopefully i dont get another broken on for the replacement.
*
dude you should know the calling period is between 9am to 6pm, dont do it at the very end as the call will be answered by apple europe, they cant call the singaporean team, to clarify. do it 5 hours befor ethe deadline at least.

Hey guys, my penryn macbook pro batt is giving me problems. saying "Service Battery". Could i get a new battery from apple? or do i have to fork out the money to get the new batt?

current batt capacity - 4147 mAh
Original batt capacity - 5600 mAh

181 batt load cycles
my mac is 25 months old..

info from coconut battery. no i do not have apple care.
*
Did apple stipulate that there'll be free battery replacement at all times? Plus your battery is already consumed so much i doubt you did calibration to it. My 2 year ++ battery only has 58 cycles and was at 98% health. Its time for a new battery and remember to always do calibration at least once a month and to charge when it almost reach rock bottom not at 90% to 20%.

Thanks for that, would it cause any harm to my mbp if i kept using the battery?
*
nope not really, if you are at home try to avoid using the battery, and opt for cable instead. Preserve its longevity. Personally though im sick of using laptops d, time for an imac laugh.gif

i thought it was 24hr? only if u want to speak to the management side then is until 6pm. the call for replacement is nt by apple europe (for my replacement case). mine was by apple singapore. only the management side can decide whether the MBP can be replaced or nt. for technical side is 24hrs.

correct me if i'm wrong.  smile.gif
*
hmm this im not so sure about the tech support as the ACPP box says its only from 9AM to 9PM, then theres also the clause the singapore team is only from 9am till 5pm, and after 5 is the europe team.

Considering that this offer is for colleges - which is what Americans call universities - it's not that big a problem. I think. It's just a matter of registering local universities into a database and have some sort of identity verification.
*
they do this by only allowing IPs from colleges and universities access their education page.

Sucks man! I just bought a brand new MBP 13 from the Apple online store and just within 2 weeks, the battery has problems and can't be charged.

Called Apple's Support line and there were very good but still had to bring to Machines to service... and now they tell me that they will need 1 week to diagnose and another week to change the battery... damn!...

if Apple wants to take some market share from the enterprise segment, they better do a lot better in the services side...

if I had a dell, they would send an engineer on-site the next day to solve my problems....

just my bad luck I guess sad.gif
*
well simple theory would be, how many people buy macs as compared to Dells? same thing goes for how many people buy proton as opposed to BMW, how many service centers are there for Proton compared to BMW? Hows the part availability between the two? bear in mind BMW genuine parts come from germany. Its all about market penetration, simple economics.

thanks =) actually the reason i want the 17" is because of the screen's resolution and its size. so have to compromise a bit lorr. the thing weighs abt 2.9kg but i dont plan to move it about much unless i really have to so it should be ok. really excited to get it. waiting is a pain though.
*
aiks when u posted earlier you said 15inch, which is it 15 or 17?

looking at either the 17" MBP Core i7 or the 15" MBP Core i7...

I've already got a 24" Dell to complement the upcoming MBP, so now it's just a matter of your guys convincing me which one I should go for... doh.gif

decisions decisions...  unsure.gif  unsure.gif
*
Ok go for 15inch i7, upgrade to high resolution display and the 500gb HDD to 7200rpm. It'll cost you RM7689 vs MBP 17 with i7, 500GB hdd 7200RPM = RM8315

price difference is = RM626 for 1 additional USB port, pcie slot, bigger screen, heavier laptop. You decide if its worth it or not brows.gif

And I've yet to see how good is a HR 15" screen compared to a normal res 15"...

i know wat you mean, my old mb is dying slowly(i give it a few weeks), planning to get a mbp soon 15 at least. but from my experience they take longer hehe, anyways the 600++ saved is half of the ACPP, heed wei's advice! brows.gif

Guess what !!!

*&#$@ ... I returned my MBP for a replacement because it came with a dead pixel.
Now the replacement comes with a dead pixel as well.

Now I have to call Apple Care again tmrw. And I'll have to wait while this unit goes all the way back to China and another unit gets shipped to me. The last time this happens, it took 19 days. @#*&$
