NOOOOOOO, I WANT BOTH. AND IT MUST BE REOCCURRING. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT ANYTHING MORE THAN THAT CAUSE IT WILL MAKE THE GAME WHOLE LOT MORE INTENSE.

Lol HEAR HEAR!!!

I just made the purchase.

USD20.25 after 10% pre-purchase and top up with another 25% discount expiring tomorrow.

Basically a 30% off normal pricing. I believe EW also includes the Slingshot campaign which is an added bonus plus other earlier add-on packs.

Bought mine for 18.50USD after rebates with GMG credits.

Dont think they are giving you Slingshot though, but i think i'll only play Slingshot once, as the payoff from that string of missions is ridiculous. Fusion Blaster and Fusion Launcher is damn OP and it makes no sense to give it to you when you have laser weapons.

Playing Enemy Unknown again with Second Wave options on Classic. Much more varied game-play this round.

But I seem to be missing the Blaster Rocket upgrade. I remember I have that in my first play through. Not sure why I don't have the option to research it this time.

Still stuck with the normal rocket launcher even when I'm nearing the final mission.

Edit: Ahh nevermind. After reading the XCOM wiki, seems I have not shot down a particular ship yet though I have yet to encounter it in this game which is weird.

once you finished your vanilla XCOM: EU, i suggest you try the long war mod from the XCOM nexus site. it is the very hard and all research will take longer time to complete.

here is the link for the long war mod from the nexus:

Long war mod

and there's also a texture mod for the soldier customization which is better than the vanilla, but the development stopped due to the mod's author currently busy for his work/study.

True only if the player buys the expansion instantly.

@Skidd Chung
The readme(included in the DL) will tell you how to install. I can vouch for long war being a tough mod, I tried 5 Ironman Impossible(with bunch of Second Wave activated), not surviving any of them so far. doh.gif

Edit: If you don't like Long War Mod, I think there's one or two other overhaul mods you can consider.

Thanks but I think I will play the EW first. Already pre-ordered.

I replayed EU because I did not want to be rusty when EW is released.

No, most likely there will be a patch for EU even if you are not planning to buy EW. That will break the compatibility of the mod and even the mod's page has a warning:

QUOTE
1) Firaxis/2k has announced an expansion, and it may come soon. It is likely that a patch will be released when the expansion is published, even for players who don't buy the expansion. ANY PATCH WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY BREAK THIS MOD. Depending on the scope of the patch, it may take a significant amount of time to get the mod working again, and it may not be compatible with the expansion at all. If you want to ensure an uninterrupted Long War experience, don't purchase the patch until we get a handle on what it does, and turn OFF automatic updates to X-Com in Steam. If your game updates, and you can't roll it back, you can't play Long War until we get it updated. Details on how to turn off automatic updates are below.

The mod page did ask the users to turn off automatic updates. The mod should be okay as long as the latest patch isn't installed.

Yes, but usually, Firaxis will be providing some bug fixes to the older version in expansion patches. It is up to you then and I dont think its worth forgoing a patch for this mod. Its not very good to be honest.

I actually liked the mod myself, much tougher than the original, and minor bugs don't bother me too much(Shouldn't the original be pretty stable since it's been out for a long time?). Of course, to each his own.

I disagree. The amount of classes felt like they just want to add classes for the sake of having lots of classes. It doesnt add much to the game than slowing the game's pacing even more.
