QUOTE(frags @ May 26 2010, 07:09 PM)
Yeah that one was published by Paradox. Developed by a Russian dev. I tried the demo. I felt it didn't give me enough information(In terms of whats going on with my units on the frontline or in combat). The battle felt like a mystery and controlling the units a bit clunky. But I'm sure it's good. I admit I didn't give that one enough time to sink in.

I think the other Paradox game I would get if it was released on Steam is Crusader Kings. Other than that, nothing else. I'm sure Paradox's own titles will be released on steam from now onwards, which means I think you can find Semper Fi(releasing on D-Day I heard) and Victoria 2 later.
*
I have to admit I bought it since it was on offer and I was looking at it for quite a while, but havent got the time to really play it much (just some quick battle to see how it goes).
Interface looks to need time to get used though.

As usual time is the issue tongue.gif

QUOTE(noobfc @ May 28 2010, 08:49 AM)
tempted to get dow2...

should i get chaos rising or both?

*
From what I can see Chaos Rising alone is 15 usd while the gold edition with both is 20usd... I would really say the gold is a better deal.

The original campaign is still good and will keep you busy for a while really, and the story is at least a little bit tied with Chaos Rising.

For 20usd I would call this a very good deal

I have put 50 hours in DoW2 and Chaos Rising combined and this is from someone who only play single player smile.gif

Prices are weird actually...

Chaos Rising: 14,99usd

Vanilla DoW2: 19,99usd

DoW2 + CR: 19,99 usd

blink.gif

I would say buy Gold now in case they change the price later...

Personally I would say if you are even mildly interested in the genre, go for it.

We have some MP players here that would like to have new blood I think smile.gif

Weird, it shown the price as below to me  hmm.gif

Chaos Rising: 14,99usd

Vanilla DoW2: 49,99usd

DoW2 + CR: 19,99 usd

Hows DoW2? Never try this game before and tempted to buy it now... Yesterday just bought the orange box, if buy this again, I'll broke... cry.gif
*
Well, I am located in China now so in 90% of case I got same prices as Malaysian on Steam but sometimes there is a bit of diff.

But you sure about Vanilla DoW2 for 49,99usd?

I thought now the full price was 39,99 without offer blink.gif

Below is what I saw on steam. BTW, I'm currently located in Singapore.

Still wondering should I buy this DoW2?  hmm.gif Deal or No Deal?
*
Actually if I look under the "Specials" tab on Steam I see the prices I said above (DoW2 for 19,99usd, with normal price as 39,99) but if I click on it I see it at 24,99 with 49,99 price... this is very weird O_o

Personally I would say go with the Gold edition if don't have either DoW2 or Chaos Rising, if your pc can take the game, it's a good deal in my opinion smile.gif

Splinter Cell Elite Echelon Edition 39% off, good price for the entire Splinter Cell collection to date.
*
Ohhh this could actually interest me, I never played a Splinter Cell yet and was tempted few times....

Too many games though... guess I will sit on it a little bit to avoid impulse buying too much...

gooding deal but got perma internet required DRM oh.
for conviction, that is.
*
Oh yeah! Almost forgot about Conviction having this thing.

Well, that's a no then, it was not exactly something I needed a lot and that DRM just tip the balance against buying it then

splinter cell cheap meh? i was thinking, for Steam, if it ain't 75%, it ain't cheap. What do you guys think?
*
Well, it really depends what, some big games won't be on 75% before a long long time and I think Splinter Cell would be inside that category.

For me as soon as it starts to get near 50% I am starting to be interested, in this case the 39% was "ok", but with the DRM I am not getting it

co-op? means can install on 2 PC at once?
*
No, you can play the solo campaign with a friend joining and taking control of some of your troops.

Or he also meant one of the multiplayer mode (the Last Stand one) which has strong focus on cooperation.

sorry to hear about this. But u enjoy it earlier than we do. I guess the game is nice because u bought
at initial release. anyway, I just grab it from Impulse since its RM15. can I use steam to download this
game?
*
No since it's from Impulse... they are different systems (and competitors really).

Use the Impulse tool to download it

Ok, I take away all criticisms about Impulse speed....

I have Sins and Galactic Civilizations 2 downloading together right now.

They are at about 200-220kbs each while wife is watching movies through streaming in the next room...

Been a while since I saw such speed whether in Steam, torrents or whatever... my usual bandwith is limited to a "normal" 170-180Kbs...
My ISP must have moved a switch somewhere...

And yar, I may be moving soon so no more Intrnet, such kind of games are great to play in this kind of situations tongue.gif

Let's see tomorrow, we should get the mid-week sale if any

QUOTE(kianweic @ Jun 2 2010, 07:08 AM)
Anybody getting King Arthur?

Metascore of 79 out of 100 seems to be tempting.
*
I got it during Xmas sales and overall it was a disappointment.

Balance is totally out of control and basically infantry is useless and archers are not using bows but M16.

Sorcery has either some totally useless spells or totally overpowered ones, not much middle ground.

Campaign is hard as hell and again balance out of control, you end up having to fights fulls stacks of armies spawning pretty much all the times with your very limited resources.
And God forbid you go out of the path the developers planned, you could trigger armies you have basically no chance of beating etc.

I heard they tried to balance things out a little bit in a latest patch but I still think it will not be enough.

Campaign has some okey storyline elements (that's one of the few thing that is saving the game in my opinion) but it would be hard to totally mess up if you use Arthur legend as baselines...

Price is not so expensive either but it's not a game I would personally really recommend.

QUOTE(Bevan @ Jun 3 2010, 01:07 AM)
Kian, Arthur is good. Its like TW but with good story and superb music. The campaign is much better than TW although battle falters a little for me. Overall the archer m16 thing is not true. can be easily countered. Its like light infantry spam in ETW/NTW. Good against noobs but if you're good then its okay. I bought it. thumbup.gif
*
I was talking from a single player perspective, I never touched the multi.

In solo archers are simply too devastating and normal infantry simply too useless.
I tried an army with maybe 5-6 archers units and enemies units were simply "vanishing" each time they all fired a volley.

Campaign is "okey" (again they are using Arthur's chronicles, not like they could really go wrong from a story telling point of view...) but very unbalanced and enemies are more or less spamming armies much more powerful than the ones you get, especially at the beginning of the game. I personally enjoyed the multiple side quests and choices you had to make in the campaign, this was by far the best aspect of the game for me.

For me it was a game with some very good potential but they dropped the ball on the balance which make the game go from enjoyable to a pain in the butt to finish in solo

It was the 1.17.5 coming to Steam.

Does not change much for solo playing apparently though:

sometime i use my lappy to do steam business... didnt play most of the game for 2 weeks due i just sell my PC

I checked most of my games listed the right last time i played, even COH:tov, i weird is, y record over 2 weeks appear at my top3 games most played within 2 weeks, even the game i play that time already over 2 weeks?

Added on June 3, 2010, 2:47 pmPS: Both PC and my lappy are in secure condition (EG: protected by norton internet security)
If any of u guys saw me play COH:TOV withiin this 2 weeks, let me know ya
*
I actually had something similar happened to me with Xcom, I have no idea why but it is showing as I have played quite a few hours (like 6 or something) when I have actually played only a couple of minutes to test some DosBox settings.

I am pretty sure my account is not hacked and just thought it was Steam missing the notification that I closed the game (and thus still counting time in the background).

You could try to run ToV, close it, and check like in your friend list if you still show as "in Game: ToV" or something (or ask one of your friend if it still see you as in game or not)

I don't have ToV on Steam so I can't test for you, Xcom was the only game that did that to me (or I did not notice for others) and I thought it was because of DosBox (which is not made by Valve and is the Dos Emulator) badly integrated with Steam
