some games like dirt 2 need gfwl, and if ur region not under it which is like 19 out of the 100+ countries in the world, say bb to your $$

and its quite annoying to login to steam and gfwl again....

other than that its ok for me i guess, just the region lock thingy

Anyone know how i can move my steam game files from one harddisk to another without having to reinstall everything again ? thinking of getting an external HD to put all my games in ..
*
i copy the files from your folder under steamapps>common/<insert id for source games>

then copy the <insert game name>.gcf file understeamapps also

then paste at the same place

Try not to backup several games at one shot.

Restoring multiple games at the same time on Steam is really really slow.

Even for the smaller games. Eg. Darwinia, DEFCON and etc.

Hey all,

I just wanna ask.. I have couple of games in steam such as CODMW2. May I know if I can reinstall the games and keep my online profile despite I do not back up the steam's files?

I plan to do some clean reformat on all my hard drives smile.gif

MW2 uses steam cloud , even TF2. Basically if its in the cloud , steam will sync to the server after playing each time so that the server keeps up to date copy of it.

- Bad NAT connection.
- Sensitive to ping spikes, especially on wireless connection to router
- Hidden DRM
- Slow matchmaking
- Region lock.

Dont bother with Flatout Ultimate Carnage. It's the worst Flatout.

Anyone tried out Guild 2 (and the expansion) before? Wondering if it is anything like Patrician or not.

Thanks for the information prasys. May I know where can I get the details of which games are on steam cloud and which games are not? Guess it's the best time now for a clean reformat and grab couple of games before the sales ending soon smile.gif

Yes, you can.

I am doing it for a lot of my games at the moment.

Restoring one by one.

So far my Metro 2033 and Supreme Commander 2 save games still intact.

So here's basicly how Steam works.
You bought the game, the game is yours, like FOREVER.

Those that did not use Steam Cloud, you need to backup the save-game or so.
Those that use Steam Cloud, you don't need to worry about backing up the save-game.

So you've decide to get Dawn of Discovery or Settlers7? tongue.gif

The best way to find out is, change to List View in Library and look for a "cloud" icon beside the Favourite column. Games which have the "cloud" icon is using Steam Cloud.

MW2, TF2, L4D2, Torchlight, CS:S are just a few games who use Steam Cloud.
