I start to use Origins Check and Balance cleanser and my acne did reduce.

To reduce acne scars on my forehead, I went to do Chemical Peeing at Koh's Skin Specialist (RM130 per session at that time). It somehow did make the skin smoother. But because the scars are too old, not fresh, it can't be ridded completely 100%.

I also use a very good acne treatment - Dalacin T to treat pimples. You just need to press the solution tip on the acne and it's done! Try to ask from the dermatologist that you're seeing, do check with him if it's suitable for you.

About oily skin, I find it hard to control it. I used Origins Oil Refiner and A Perfect World Toner or Oily skin, but it didn't help much. I did Charcoal facial mask every week also didn't help. I still stick to using a oil blotter about every 3 hours to remove excess oil on my face.

No her treatment is not good. Last time, 1.5k for 1 hour 30 mins.. now price is 2.5k for 30 mins or less (don't count waiting time). She will say "oh it's because her machine has been upgraded" .. well, upgraded to 10% ..

One thing I don't like about the clinic is that, if there's hardly anybody, you will be treated 30 mins. but when the place is pack or there's some walk in customer, you sometimes get close to 20 mins.. I was like wth, so not consistence~!!

Everything about her clinical care is not good and very very $ minded.. trust me, I use to go there for facial & my cousin goes there for acne treatment. She says it helps just a little

Dalacin T only works for around 3 months.. The bacteria will grow resistant to it.. dont use it for long term.

Added on April 21, 2010, 7:44 pmThough I cannot recommend a good doctor to u in subang area. Why not you try Differin Gel at night? It works wonder but it's not cheap. By the way, if acne is real bad, you should take oral medication eg Antibiotics or Roaccutance. You can get Roaccutane from Dermatologist, but you may go bankrupt when you acne problem settles... RM10 a tablet, and you may need to take one to two a day for 6 months! Then you will get baby skin on your face.

I went to dermatologist previously (August last year). she suggested me differin. used it for around 6 months. but my face still the same.. or might become worse i guess..

don't know what else to try. feels like wanna give up.. really2 low self esteem this past few weeks..

Maybe your should add in a day cream, like Benzac or Dalacin T gel. Give it a month, if it doesnt work, you probably need oral antibiotics. Any pus on your face by the way? If yes, better go straight for oral antibiotics.

You can get oral antibiotics for acne from any doctor.

can't get from pharmacies?

I've used Dalacin-T for 3 years and it still works for me

Pharmacists are not suppose to sell antibiotics without doctor's prescription, but some rogue pharmacists do.

Hi, Seriously, Dr Ranjit is the best dermatologist I have ever met. Yes, The first few months while taking the Roaccutane, I have the same "dry lips" effects but that was already been mention by Dr Ranjit. The cooling gel which applied at night consist of collagen which will help your skin even better. So, the Roaccutane and the night gel is a very good combination.

I am taking it for 6 months now, and this month, is my 7th month. I have to continue Roaccutane as a "maintenance" pills because I am thinking to do laser for my scars.

You have to make an appointment to see him other wise, you will have to wait for hours as a walk-in customer. Trust me, you don't want that..

My self esteem was good until I came down to KL in Sept 2006. It was BAD! REALLY BAD! I'm not sure whether it's the environment or air pollution but I'm sure it's not a kind of thing you would like to wake up and having it on ya FACE in a sudden! From face to my back even front!!

I have tried every damm thing! None of it works! I even went for FACIAL and trust me, DO NOT GO FOR FACIAL that uses fingers to clean ya face! Side effects, like me, SCARS!!! I even went to Dr Murad for facial and guess what, WORSE! They will blame you for all the shit happen to your sweet face!

After all that, I went to Dr Louis in 1 Utama. She gave me an antibiotic and a BIRTH CONTROL pills (Diane 35 which had its side effects and she did not inform me about it!), this and that cost me RM1k!! She also charge me RM2k for her laser then go down all the way to RM1.3k after I ignored her for the pass 3 months. I also stop taking Diane 35 after 12 days of consuming it.

That is when i say, enough is enough and I went to Dr Ranjit. 1st month of taking Roaccutane, my back is CLEARED!!! My front area, CLEARED and my face, 90% CLEARED! this is my 7th month and I can say, it's worth seeing him. He is nice and he can help us. Ladies, give it a shot. It's worth your money. You can google Roaccutane and you can see how clear it is. It is just a pill containing vitamin A which Dr Ranjit will tell you. No side effects, no mood swing.. nothing!

I saw Dr Ranjit was prescribing roaccutane.

I actually went to Dr. Koh for some advice and he prescribe roaccutane to me as well. After doign some research, I foudn that the drug is actually banned in numerous countries and have side-effects pages long from depression, to losing hair, to kidney failure!

The manufacturer Roche also withdrew the drug form countries that have better consumer rights for fear of being sued. I suppose its still available in Msia cause.. well.. we have zero consumer rights here.

surprisingly there is no mention of Dr Ting of Jalan Imbi. Thought he is very good too, maybe his clinic is not in Subang area, that's why!

Hey guys, I actually started a new thread about asking if anyone is on Accutane or contraceptive pills for oily and acne skin. Please contribute there. I've seen both Dr Tan and Dr Koh, and one more Indian doctor in ss3, can't remember his name and another young chinese doctor in Sunway (opposite Sunway Pyramid).

Dr Tan can't be bothered with you once you have finished your first round of treatment for Accutane. She put me on Accutane for about a year, and as usual for a year, it cleared up my skin wonderfully but once you stop taking Accutane, both oil and acne returns.


All doctors tell me that Accutane won't stop the oil from coming back but it can help reduce the acne. Reduce, not remove.


I just want to ask if anyone of you have been on more than one Accutane cycle? How many cycles did you go through?

I been on three in the last few years.

My problem with Roaccutane is - it works wonderfully when you're ON it. Once you're OFF it, the oil and acne returns.

As for long term effects, if you did a google research, you will not want to take the medication. I think anything concerning health info that you find on the INTERNET, you should not believe 100% and only take it with a grain of salt. Clear it up with the doctors first.

I have asked Dr Koh about this thoroughly and he reassured me that there no real long term side affects. But he did ask me if I have any side effects. He also told me that Roaccutane is being made into a 'beauty pill' in Australia where the dose is low (5mg) and some ladies take it to just 'maintain' their skin coz it helps to make skin look youthful.

hey, you may try out some Benzoyl Peroxide products, like OBAGI CLENZIDERM.
ask from your dermatologists, it is to treat the root of the acne problems, P.acnes and controlling the oil sebum level.

I am being suspicious of a little mole on the back of my wife's shoulder. I worry it may be a malignant melanoma skin cancer. What is the appropriate medical field, or perhaps a doctor that my wife should see.

I called Dr.Tan but according to person on the phone says that the doctor is not related to skin cancer. Then I called Columbia Asia, they told me to find a dermatologist. So I am confused.

1. please be aware of the difference between a dermatologist and an aesthetic medicine doctor.

a dermatologist is a skin specialist. look for his basic degree,.ie, MD or MBBS or MBBCH BAO. next look for the post grad degree,i.e., MRCP OR FRCP. a dermatologist can also have lasers or other aesthetic treatment.

an aesthetic medicine doctor is just a GP with a diploma in aesthetic medicine or diploma in skin/derm. this diploma helps the GP with more knowledge of skin diseases. these type of GPs might only practise normal GP work or might only concentrate on aesthetic medicine. they are not allowed to call themselves specialists, most don't.

dr christina is one such doctor. that young chinese doctor near pyramid, should be dr edwin chang is also one such doctor. they are GPs in the first place but they provide skin treatment mainly focussing on the aesthetic side but they can treat skin diseases just like any other GPs. yes they might know more about dermatology than some other GPs but most GPs can treat common skin diseases anyways, e.g., acne vulgaris, psoriasis, eczema, etc.

then why do they have dermatologists?
well, most skin problems look more or less the same. treatment is generally limited to creams and tablets.
dermatologists would have studied more into various skin diseases and would have seen many other patients with skin problems. so they can easily identify or sort out those skin diseases which tend to look similar. some more serious skin diseases need to be hospitalized, so some are based in the hospitals or would have admitting rights in the hospitals. patients also feel they are in good hands with the dermatologist as some skin diseases are chronic problems, e.g, psoriasis or eczema, they won't be cured but their problem might be in better control with the dermatologist.

Hi,I had suffer for skin itchy very long time, ard 1mth, been try many Medicine as well but can't recover. .. i had try went to Dr christinal cheah clinic too but no effective n she charged me rm255, im really shock tht time im 1st time went to skin specialist.... after read feedback from net found tht dr ranjit is good in skin problem, finally decide to go klinik ranjit today for check, he charged me total RM240 with consultancy fee Rm 30... he just checked awhile and said it is eczema which is skin allergy and gv me day n night cream, face cream n day n night pil. .. I dunno whter worth it not but I hope can recover in 1week time tht he told me... just sharing. .. skin specialist it is so expensive? Well, for me I think she is over-rated and might ask you to do more expensive procedures when cheaper/simpler will do.

Also, I tried her diamond exfoliation thing. Honestly I noticed no difference. Might as well have just scrubbed my face with a rough towel. But she kept saying, "Better, right? Better, right?" as if trying to psycho me.

She also dismissed a friend's allergic reaction from an animal bite as nothing.

I spent quite some amount of money on clinic. not working at all until i found this Xianna products....

I just went there and it cost me RM555. Body wash, Hair Shampoo, Moisturize cream for scalp, body cream x 2, face cream x 2, lotion, medicine for allergy skin. Full set.... the price for me is consider reasonable. I had been struggling skin problem for more than 2 years. Hopefully with Dr Koh my skin condition can be control. been seeing i think close to 4 years already and until now eventhough my skin is clear I am still seeing her for maintenance purpose..She treated my problem using microdermabrasion ( very frequent ) initially , proper skincare and also gluthathione injection...I put in a lot of effort and patience, although the results weren't immediate but it did solve my problem. Now my skin is clear with the occasional few breakouts, to me that is 1000000 gazillion times better than having a face full of acne and scars

I dont know if this thread is still active. But for anyone that is suffering from acne. ROACCUTANE is the best drug there is out there right now hands DOWN. Take it from someone like me, i know, coz i suffered from acne for years .... all those over the counter pills,creams yada yada yada are ALL BS. Tea Tree oil ? Dalacin T ? Pro active solutions ? i tried them all .... the acne ALWAYS comes back, and when they do, they become more powerful than ever, probably due to they growing resistance towards watever i was using before.
SO again, guys and gals .... IF you are suffering from ACNE, trust me, i know how you feel, LIKE SHIT, coz tats how i felt, so TRUST ME on this, RO ACCUTANE is the way to go. This drug doesnt kill the acne the traditional method, it works by STARVING the little critters, you see, wat this drug does is it control your oil production on your skin, thus you will experience dry skin and lips, so when ur oil productions is lessen, the little bastards will starve to death and eventually you will have clear skin, usually it takes about 8~12 months. And since it doesnt directly kill the bacteria, it have no chance to build up any sort of resistance, pure genius, whoever created this drug.
And, yes i have read comments on top saying that their acne actually worsen during the first few months of using this drug, guys and gals, i am no doctor, but i really think that is NORMAL, coz my acne got worst as well during the first 3 months of using this drug, then eventually, everything cleared up, thank GOD. Have personally been there to treat my skin condition and found him very experienced and personable. Highly recommended!

I second this. I've been battling severe acne for more than 15 years. Spent a lot of money on different regimes from pharmaceutical to herbal with no results, just more ghastly Acne outbreaks and scars. Finally decided to give Accutane a go, despite its well-known side effects. Not left with much of a choice. Took a six-month course that cost RM180 a month (30 tablets once a day), and my problems lessened dramatically. So much so that I don't really have a cleansing routine nowadays. Yes...I know, I'm lazy.

For severe cases of Acne Vulgaris, there really is no other option. Better not wait 15 years, the pain, embarassment and suffering is just not worth it.

Hi, I went to Dr Ranjit Singh for my skin problem too, only to be misdiagnosed with Eczema and was given oral steroids which made my Psoriasis to be what it is now, serious enough to be unfit to work.

I have it on my hands, palms, feet, sole and recently it has progressed into Psoriasis Arthritis. (not only can't work, now difficult to 'walk' also)

Was wondering if anyone could recommend for acne scars treatment?
I have quite severe scars, so far I've consulted Dr Kent and Clique, both quoted me around Rm900 per session for FCO2 treatment.
Anyone did FCO2 before, is it effective and how much?

Really have low self esteem due to my scars, sigh.....

i always thought mine was eczema but Dr Gankaram in tropicana told me its psoriasis, which i think is true because it doesnt go off.

the meds are mostly same old steroid cream. short term solution. so what i normally do now is i will apply for few weeks to reduce the issue, then try to practice healthy lifestyle (which is tough due to my schedule). i find that if you have enuf rest and stress free, psoriasis will not flare up that easily.

Just chance upon your thread. I had Hives for more than 25 years, it started when I was a kid at about 6 years of age. Seen several doctors with no results of improvement until my father bought me Clarityne tablets, it helps a lot and the symptom subside an hour after taking a pill.

Do note you are not suppose to take more than one pill a day. My hives have since gone but they do come back once in awhile, maybe once a year. I noticed they appear "at times" when I consumed oyster or prawns, or recover from fever after taking fever tablets, for you info I had no seafood & drug allergy, it only happen once in a blue moon. Some days I can eat seafood with no relapse, I always had this med on standby just in case.

CLARITYNE can be purchase from any Pharmacy.

I've seen Dr. Peter Ch'ng at Alpha Specialist Centre for my dermatitis condition. He's very nice and explained to me clearly. He gave me some cream and so far, it helped to control it.

If you're in Kota Damansara or Kepong area, can consider him for your problems. If not mistaken, he has one session at Alpha every friday.

Hi, I’m suffering from serious folliculitis infection. It started from my leg and spread to my upper body and now my whole body is affected. The scars/pigmentation is too terrible and since then my confidence level has reduced a lot. I have been taking some medication from a skin specialist in Jalan Ipoh. She prescribes me acnotin. It did help to reduce the infection i.e the size and frequency of acne appearance. She told me I have to take it for 6 months only. Nevertheless, it continues until 15 months. The medicine is very expensive. I did not see the complete cure thus decided to stop the medication. It’s almost five years since I first infected by folliculitis and I still couldn’t find a complete cure.

If anyone has similar problem with me, please share your treatment experience in fighting this infection.

Just want to share my experience.
Been having acne/pimple problem since i was 14. Now 26 and still having it. Not as bad though. It comes and goes. Sometimes higher intensity than the previous wave.
I used to go to Dr Lim at Pantai Medical Centre. He gave me antibiotics and cream to rub on the affected area. I also go to facial. But when I stopped taking the antibiotics, it came back.
So I switched to a dermotologist in Malacca (meds and facial). That was good but I stopped going there after 2 trips because of the distance. After coming back from my studies, I started going to public hospital here. The doc gave me antibiotics again, but same result after I stop taking it.
I sort of gave up on demotologists.
Now im trying out this Praventac, been using it for 2 weeks. Not much difference yet, but the intensity is lesser. Just a few big ones. I still need another couple of weeks to evaluate the result of this product. I still go for facial occasionally.
Oh and I also take Vit C saluable tables 1k microgram ones everyday. Hoping these two will stop future breakouts.

Anyone has any experience with Praventac?

i been through 3 treatments for my red scar/spot/pigmentation from injury but doesnt help.

normally RM100+ per visit including medicine.
The doctor will give u some anti-biotic and it works!
A week later the acne will die.

Just visit the one nearest to your home.

if it doesn't work, please stop.
After 3 treatments you should be seeing results.

Try applying topical vitamin C to whiten the pigmentation.

any recommendation of the product?
