or get your self a DIY computer casing fan. Its cheap, reliable and will drop your tank temperature to about 26~29c.
Added on May 26, 2010, 10:49 amand if you use fan, please prepare your self to add water everyday to your tank.. eheh This post has been edited by Adremier: May 26 2010, 10:49 AM |

Its a PC fan, of course its a DC
You need to find a AC/DC adapter and connect it to the fan. I use 12V , so the speed is faster. Normal temp that I got is about 28 to 29C 26 C sometime can be achieved on rainy or cloudy day. The effect is better on dry day because with fan is we are applying water evaporative properties to cool down the water. In dry day, more water will evaporate, so more heat energy will be absorbed by the water in the surface when the become vapors. Bigger surface area also help water to cool down the water more. DC would be safer..
Check the fan Cubic feet per minutes (CFM) properties of the fan.. The bigger the CFM value is, the more air displacement it creates.. so more airflow.. The high end fan also more quiet.. The angle of the fan also very important to get most effective cooling effect. the downside of using fan is... You need to top off your tank everyday because the water evaporate like crazy.. hehe |

Buy a small sponge bubble filter.. take out the sponge.. and fit it at the inlet...
it will look cool because of the black color and it wont clog easily because the sponge filter is designed to handle a lot of bio load. I'm using that method currently. ![]() This post has been edited by Adremier: May 31 2010, 04:19 PM |

- my shrimp keep dying..
- Already use the air pump to aerate it. - result is better that not using it, but the shrimp is still dying.. - i did water top off everyday because of the fan and do 20% water change every 2 days.. - i also didn't user any fert. - but still the shrimp is dying. - im using filtered tab water.. - average temp is about 28C to 27C - it is because of the copper in the tap water that cause this? |
