QUOTE(sigheart @ Mar 15 2017, 03:10 PM) Well 3kim were the first I got the quotation from and being a 3kim customer before you should know how detailed their itemized quotations are. hello!I took the exact same specs on their quotation including exact measurements/material/thickness/finishing and gave it to other vendors and not only were their estimate quotations cheaper, after onsite assessment, even cheaper after negotiating with them. FYI their not run of the mill steel vendors but those as big as 3kim as well with own factories etc. Tried to negotiate with 3kim for a better price but guess how much discount they give from quoted price? Rounded down RM40 for a >RM10k job mind sharing your contact with us? I wanna avoid 3kim, prices not affordable for me. |

Hello everyone,
need some suggestion... my new house has casement windows which is set quite low (3 feet from the floor) thus, if left open, its quite easy for someone just to jump in. However I feel like adding grill will spoil the aesthetics. Although it is in a guarded and gated area, i dont think i would feel secure without some sort of barrier if i want to leave the windows (and sliding door) open. I've done some looking around and came up with some choices: 1. invisible grill: i saw that some companies provide the invisible grill complete with built in alarm, thus if someone cuts the grill then the alarm will sound. Pro: it doesnt spoil the aesthetics. Cons: difficult to clean, not as sturdy as normal grill 2. mosquito mesh screen: no alarm, but will keep mosquito and bugs/cats etc out. Maybe deterrent to thieves but not exactly secure. 3. grill: will spoil the aesthetics, but basically more secure that the two options above. FYI- the house will be equipped with CCTV as well, but maybe no alarm as it is gated and guarded. Any opinions on these choices? Husband more keen on nothing at all but im not so convinced of the security. Thanks in advance. |

In terms of security, I find alarm is more important than CCTV because the guards will respond immediately when the alarm goes off. However, if there are elders or kids in the house, having a CCTV is essential to keep an eye on them when we are not around. I had the experience of 2 burglars jumping in from the window and had a knife against my husband's neck. So yeah, grill is a must for me. Hopes this helps. |

If you keep small valuable items (>10k) in house, better install grill for anti theft. For self protection, can consider carry pepper spray and also put it at every corner in house. |
