yeah. too bad for someone who brought 3 years of complete cover.

actually changing CPU & GPU is not really difficult. like Putochip123 always did, its more like plug and play. but fact still fact right.

hye dude, do you having any throttling issue with your crazy specs rig? everythin is smooth ?

you cannot upgrade your CPU, MOBO and GPU. not by yourself or even by Dell Technician

well yes someone claimed changing those hardwares will not void the warranty, but generally and officially - it will void your warranty.

i am tired emphasizing this point, really. i ask FindingScreemo to post this on the front page of V2 but no action. maybe he is forgotten smile.gif

anyway, i would like to see how someone that upgrading his own expensive laptop like this react once knowing his warranty is voided after done upgrading biggrin.gif

TS, maybe you could post some FAQ in V3 front page for some question like this.

but they will know the 'original' items in your lappy based on your service tag...you can go to dell's website and put your service tag and there you u will see the original configuration and current configuration of your lappy....if they see that your lappy has been unofficially upgraded apart from the RAM and hard disk...the warranty will be void....unless you change back to original cpu or gpu when u send it back for warranty....

my two cents....

yes what you said is true. our specs is under our Service Tag. and don't expect that technician will not know to differentiate between touched and untouched hardwares. unless you rub all the previous thermalpaste 100.00%.

well tl;dr version - just don't.

Mr. Docter, u are wrong......
it wont void the warranty, officially "Yes", normally "No"
why? let me explain.
For Example, i change my proc, suddenly my laptop faulty, cannot power on, or anything, this is a serious problem, most probably dell will ask tech to pick up and send to warehouse.
When they found out the problem is not ur proc who lead to the faulty, they will claim and repair for u, if it is lead by proc, then they will no repair for u, because Proc is not under Dell's bar code(is my own proc).
The problem i can 100% comfirm, i have few's friend who are working in warranty department and warehouse, i know it cleary. but if u ask those On call Tech Support, they will say void......
u send laptop to the warehouse, dell will pay the company who repair for u, and the parts will send by dell to the warehouse, the company who repair for u doesnt lose anything also.
