there r many good flash out there, it all depends on your budget
most common r:
Nikon SB600 - rm800
Nikon SB900 - rm1600
Nikon SB800 - rm1100(2nd hand)
Nissin Di622 - rm450
Nissin Di866 - rm900

D3 shud have, cos CLS is a special feature of Nikon
Canon similar feature only their top of the line 1D/1Ds have it, now 7D has it
its jz not logic for flagship model to not have
jz my theory, sory if im mistaken  tongue.gif

about pop up flash trigger, im not sure
jz heard frm other ppl say in order to eliminate the pop up flash harsh light during close up shot
they block it with a card
*
Checked and confirmed, you cannot CLS with D3 body alone without the help of a commander unit like SB-900 or SU-800.

QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Apr 30 2010, 12:35 PM)
So it means even with D90 body, you cant trigger the flash without your body's flash firing?? Wuuhuu.... den I less regret on 1 thing buying my D5000 early right b4 D90 price drop. I tot D90 can fire with just 1 flash at the back of the subject creating a diff approach, which makes me wanna buy a wireless flash triggering kit
*
You can disable the pop up flash. It will flash for triggering, but does not affect the image output.

seems im mistaken  hmm.gif
but this reli is funny for the manufacturers
Nikon mid-entry level cams to entry level FX cams have built-in commander, but flagship model dun have?
then Canon all cams dun have built-in commander except the flagship 1D/1Ds n top of the line crop sensor body, 7D
i jz swt at the way they divide the features  sweat.gif

btw, jz noticed radio trigger is not rite
suppose to be IR trigger coz triggered by infra red signal
*
1D/1Ds has wireless flash? AFAIK the only unit having wireless flash capability is the 7D. I'm not quite clear about the 1Dmark4, but the older ones doesn't have it.

7D uses pop up flash for triggering too.

*
I have that flash diffuser haha, thought of using it before I got my SB900. But then soon after I bought my SB900 and rarely use this anymore.

that diffuser nice ah? macam plastic saje lol
i saw a fella using it and he said he bought it from camera shop punya wo. not DIY. cuz if DIY the paper material important and i have no clue at all. after googling most of them recommend vaccuum paper. swt
*
Not too bad I guess? I didn't use it long enough for a review tongue.gif.

Can any 1 explain this table for me? its about EV... why when EV -6, the shutter speed become longer? isnt it should become shorter?

Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exposure_value
*
Weird, if EV-6, your shutter should increase in shutter speed to reduce the light intake.

oooh... im not well verse bout CLS...
anyway, 1 thing for sure is that D90 cant triggered SB900 "radio"ly... hmm.gif
*
It sends TTL signals to the flash units using radio. But trigger is done with flash.

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ Apr 30 2010, 09:49 PM)
Hey celciuz, im curious how to do this. Mind teaching? XD
*
Set your flash to Commander mode. Inside you will see settings for your pop up flash, group A and group B. Just disable away the pop up flash. Make it to '--'.

Try shoot further away from the subject, it would be almost no effects at all.

Yea, just shot. Works even with my nissin di622 (old firmware, without radio trigger)...

Can play some strobist already =D
*
o.O try if you can control the TTL through the flash compensation for the groupings or not. That is what the CLS is for. You can adjust flash power, compensation etc from the body itself.

That's freaking cool, really a "creative" light system.

Hey guys, i notice my kit lens is becoming loose from time to time, the zoom ring at 1st very stiff now become smoother already. When i zoomed to 105mm, i push the front of the lens it can zoom out to 18mm without turning the zoom ring. Does you all's lens zoom ring loosens with time?
*
@@, mine if push also will go back to 18mm from 105mm. Normal isn't it?

i think it's normal... i played with a 1 or 2 week old 18-55 also like that. so i assume all zoom lens like this hehe not meh?

but i think we shudnt do that la... might mess up the gear teeth / screw threads or something... i have no idea how lens work.. ;p
*
Definitely have to avoid doing that, our lens probably designed to take rotary force instead of axial force tongue.gif. Might break some stuffs inside if done too often haha!

d700 is way better for hobbyist in full frame levels minus the low pixels

maybe its my bag, d90+grip 2 lens + flash can really give me back pain sometimes.
*
D90 + 3 lens + flash still ok for me tongue.gif. At least on my backpack lah. But if carry that to travel sweat.gif .

Just my 2 cents, I think it would look better if you could see the glass completely (bottom was cropped in this image) and also the arm on the right hand side taken away. Overall its alright.
