I would get the 55-200 instead of Sigma due to lack of VR.Photography Nikon D40/D40x/D60/D3000/D5000 V8, Entry Level Digital SLR from Nikon.

QUOTE(ongdandy @ May 5 2010, 11:07 AM) yup true.. VR have vibration reduction. i have read lots of comment and feedback at photomalaysia.com I've a friend with the Sigma 70-300, said the lens is ok for outdoors. But image is damn soft 200mm onwards and when indoor totally unusable at all due to low shutter + no sort of image stabilization. In the end he sold it and went for the 55-200 VR instead. |

Gotta remember, for the basic model, (D3000 and 1000D) Canon seems better with CMOS sensor and also built in motor. D3000 is using CCD sensor and does not come with AF built in motor.

Well, that's my point of view. CMOS versus CCD, built in motor versus no built in motor. You can use 50mm f/1.8 on 1000D, but not on the D3000 without ability to AF.

Just don't quite get why Nikon didn't have built in AF for most of the entry models

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 6 2010, 08:24 PM) For your information, canon entry levels also DON'T have built in AF motor. Just that, when canon releases their very first DSLR, they make all lenses with internal AF motor. And old lenses without motor are not supported by the current DSLR. The basic 50mm f/1.8 from Canon has built in motor?Canon is unlike nikon, nikon u can still use a old 28-80mm lens or 80-200mm lens or Ai-S lenses on your DSLR =D This post has been edited by celciuz: May 6 2010, 08:55 PM |

QUOTE(zellleonhart @ May 6 2010, 08:55 PM) @ButanicaBanzai In that case, even the entry levels from Canon can use the cheap yet good 50mm f/1.8 Hmm not enough wow effect... The composition still need to be improved. The people the very distracting to me Erm i don't think there's any shop selling, better buy in Lowyat forum. Not asking u to order in amazon, that will cost u a BOMB. Added on May 6, 2010, 8:56 pm yes, all have. |

QUOTE(kae_ae @ May 7 2010, 02:49 PM) other difficulty i have is getting entire subject focused in in macro shots. is it coz i shoot to close? if i go further hard to keep stable then got slight blurring. sorry for the noob question guys -.-' You will need to stop down your aperture, f/16 and above. If really can't then you need to move back already. |

Cropped? I think it would have looked better if the slippers can be seen completely rather than half cropped.
