Last night I saw add when watching 711.....
FOX HD, first in Asia.....is it for Astro or for other provider?
*

Don't believe it, not for Astro. I kinda sceptical nowadays, after April Fool by Astro on Discovery HD. They actually can remove the ads. If not what's the purpose of 3 min delay??? vmad.gif

just a question, since astra have delay on broadcasting live football ( example like: BPL)
does the Astro Beyond take another delay to broadcast it?
*

No, different between SD & HD is about 1-3 s only

Can Byond output video to both composite video and HDMI at the same time? I would like to connect the composite video and analog audio to my DVR and the HDMI to the AVR. By doing this, I dont have to turn on my AVR for timer recordings. Thanks.
*

Yes it can smile.gif Make sure to adjust audio level properly before you record it.

so, I can't use my external HDD with Byond... like that?  ohmy.gif
*

You bought it too early. We still don't know how PVR in byond will work & if there is any additional charge. It's still in testing stage, how about if the testing found a lot of bugs? You will be disappointed it will not come out by this month. Not to let you down, I just prepare for the worst laugh.gif
btw you can use your HDD for other purpose as well icon_rolleyes.gif

Also, does anyone else get annoyed when you are reading the info on the EPG and it just disappears? How can you get the EPG to stay up?
*

You can set banner time. Default is 10s, not sure the maximum, will check it later.
Alternatively, you can press tv button. It will stay there until you exit smile.gif

I wonder if Astro will come out decoder with 2 tuner for byond later, what it will look like. I guess we need to lay 2 cables to the dish & using LNB with 2 output. hmm.gif

Even now you can use it as a toaster, just place a slice of bread beneath it. Then, new decoder could be use as a 2 slice toaster. laugh.gif

Er, somehow I noticed the one come with Astro not so good quality, I changed to slightly better gold-plated one and does notice some minor improvement.
But I'm just wondering, since it is only digital signal transmission, theoretical speaking it shouldn't be any difference, or it is just psychological feel .... rclxub.gif

I'll try to understand that LNB thing, which is still very confuse to me ... sweat.gif
So does it mean if a LNB use splitter to 2/3 decoder, each of the decoder can watch and select different channel at the same time?
I might hear wrongly, someone told me that 1 LNB can only use for 1 decoder, if need another Astro means another dish  blink.gif
*

LNB is link this
If you use normal Astro, you can split it to 2/3 decoder by using splitter. It can be done because SD channel using same frequency. Each decoder can watch any SD channel (still depend on your smart card).
But if 1 of the decoder is Byond, you cannot use like I mention above because HD channel use higher frequency. If you still use that, once Byond decoder watch HD channel, other decoder that use SD channel won't get any signal.
To overcome this, you need a separate connection from Byond decoder & normal decoder to the dish. That's mean you need 2 dish with normal LNB. But if you don't want 2 dish, you can use 1 dish with LNB more than 1 output.
Hope it will clear up

True. I used to be very happy when I heard about DiscoveryHD, (name your channel here)HD is going to be on ASTRO soon. Until I realised that some vendor/installer/agent used those thing to boost their sales/installation commission only.

Good point, well said. rclxms.gif

Well, already saw Fed cried last year when he won it for the first time last year in French Open.
Maybe this time can see him laughing with big wide open mouth that can see leftover food in between his teeth in HD.  drool.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  whistling.gif  doh.gif

Don't think he'll win vs Nadal. He'll cry like last year Aussie Open brows.gif

since u live in a centralised condo... i think astro just need to change the dish only... and also the decoder to byond decoder... i dont think cables are necessary to change... if just change the dish... it should be an easy job for them...
*

It's not just changing the dish, MDU need to be replaced. Read this thread
Quick solution is install individual dish although building management not allow it. You can argue with them, this is just temporary solution before they change the MDU.
iirc one forumer mention it will cost RM100k-200k ohmy.gif

On the more serious side, I think that the PVR box should be around RM500-1000, with THREE TUNERS (2 to record and one to watch) with 500GB or more HDD, with an e-SATA port, Wifi functionality for internet programming

*
Unfortunately, I don't think so. Yes, it's still not official but seem unlikely to have 3 tuners. Maybe can record 2, but can't watch other channel while recording 2 channel
