QUOTE(klseet @ May 6 2010, 02:00 PM) Er, you mean may have to change the Byond box if want to record ? I'm currently using another DVD recorder box to record also can set timer, what's the different compare to the Astro DVR? Hmmmm, not sure how much Astro will charge again ..... It should be software update for current byond decoder to be capable for recording function using external hard drive. I hope Astro won't charge for this feature The different with your DVD recorder is it can schedule recording time using EPG & might support HD resolution as well. Added on May 6, 2010, 3:05 pm QUOTE(spikey2506 @ May 6 2010, 02:43 PM) Audience measurement data? I wonder how do they do this. As they have mentioned before that they decoders are only capable of one way traffic only, they do not transmit back. Might be using IP network. If you notice, byond decoder has a network port. They might utilize it by connecting it to your broadband router. Just my guess btw I don't want it as I foresee it's invasion of my privacy This post has been edited by eMKs: May 6 2010, 03:05 PM |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 6 2010, 03:13 PM) Do you think I can using USB pendrive to record programme on Byond?? I Don't have budget to buy external hard drive yet.... You need to ask TallJustin for this one, waiting for him to come back & you need to remember pendrive using FAT16 file system which file size limited to 2GB only. Worst thing is you must use 'Astro' brand hard drive |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 6 2010, 04:09 PM) Just wanna give one idea to astro, if they launch the new PVR decoder, they can make the system for the customer to "rent" it... it was the concept that Starhub in Singapore do. They rent all of their decoder to customer for some fee every month.... Well, actually they already rent to us at RM20/month, that's why byond decoder is belong to them now |

QUOTE(Qash-M @ May 6 2010, 05:14 PM) Just a waste Byond recorded video might be protected by DRM while DVD recorder is not. But you can only get SD resolution by using external recorder unless you're using something like HDFury2 as one of forumer here posted back in V3. |

QUOTE(writesimply @ May 11 2010, 10:46 AM) The 50Hz signal is only a factor when it comes to OTA broadcast via radio waves. Astro's signal is encoded prior to transmission, so there really is no need for 25fps video. Unless the feed comes from 25fps video camera, movies with 24fps telecine master need not be converted to 25fps. fuad but astro didn't use 1080p24 as a standard, maybe because old display not support this format. Almost all display can handle 1080i50 This post has been edited by eMKs: May 11 2010, 11:12 AM |

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ May 11 2010, 05:11 PM) ahh i see, now that makes sense when i plug my laptop to my plasma at 60hz and every kind of fps plays fine lol... some software like xbmc can force display refresh rate to match video, every time I start to play movie using my laptop, my tv will go blank for 2-3s. Some people might feel it annoying, but I find it is useful. It will be good if Astro can do 1080p24 for some program like DIRECTV does. It actually uses almost same bandwith like 1080i50 that Astro currently using. |

QUOTE(spikey2506 @ May 12 2010, 01:44 PM) U will still be disappointed this weekend bro. Coz F1 in ESPN HD is upscaled only, not a true HD. But still better than SD la. & for qualifying & race only. pre & post race highlight/analysis & media conference also not available in ESPN HD. But tbh, i'm not disappointed although not fully satisfy |

QUOTE(ianho @ May 13 2010, 08:07 AM) Hehe, I didnt mean kacau us in terms of discomfort. I meant kacau coz now hafta switch it off completely at night. The amount of heat it produces even in standby mode shows that it's chewing up a whole lot of electricity while doing nothing. I'm the kinda person who believes in saving electricity 1. Dont like to waste. Yeah, me too. But the problem is when you switch it off completely, you need to wait for 1 minute lol. Last time, when i ask TallJustin about this one he mention it might be warm, not hot. But i kinda disagree, it still hot. QUOTE(cyberkoh88 @ May 13 2010, 11:57 AM) Thomas/Uber Cup in HD? or upscale HD like in F1....doubt it coz i dun think all the matches will recorded using HD camera. if really recorded IN HD, why not from the first day or yesterday match again Denmark telecast in HD format...if yesterday malaysia lost to denmark, do u think we can see our hero/zero in HD or upscale HD. another astro strategy to blindfold us. Dun u all think we being cheated if that so-call HD channel only display upscale HD. I think it was recorded in HD, they just don't broadcast it in HD yet. Maybe they do some trial in HD since day 1 because this is the 1st time they will do live telecast in HD. I bet it will be HD, not upscaled. Btw i like upscaled, it's way better than SD. Astro just need to be honest when they actually upscaled it. |

You're right then, from 101 to 801. 119 PQ is terrible. This post has been edited by eMKs: May 13 2010, 02:27 PM |

I think if that is the case, you just directly nego with installer. There's installer adv here for byond installation. Actually Astro won't allow you install 2nd decoder at different location from main decoder.
Added on May 17, 2010, 1:13 pm QUOTE(kiasunkiasi @ May 17 2010, 12:34 PM) Can I just inform Astro that my in-laws want to install B.yond, and when the installer come, I negotiate with the installer and get him to fix the B.yond set at my apartment? This method seem ok This post has been edited by eMKs: May 17 2010, 01:13 PM |

QUOTE(opjust @ May 17 2010, 02:51 PM) only for thomas cup lol.. i guess this is the 1st time they broadcast HD themself.. let them learn.. Astro performance same as Malaysia's Thomas Cup team performance Added on May 17, 2010, 3:05 pm QUOTE(kiasunkiasi @ May 17 2010, 01:44 PM) Oh, the old dish can receive B.yond signal ah? I thot we must use the new dish for B.yond... If that's the case, why would installer install new dish for those who upgrade? Yes it can, but you'll miss better performance in term of signal lost during rain.
