QUOTE(klseet @ May 21 2010, 10:12 AM)
1 Astro disc can only to 4 decoders, what does that mean? blink.gif
.
.
Must the 4 decoders the same type ?
*
1 dish to 4 byond decoders max i.e 1 LNB out to 1 byond decoder and cannot split. If you have 4 byond, you get a dish with 4 LNBs

You can only split if the output is connecting to a normal box.

OR 1 dish to 3 byond and the other LNB output can use splitter to two or 3 normal decoder
OR 1 dish to 2 byond and the other two to splitters and connect 6 normal decoders
OR... you get the idea?

QUOTE(klseet @ May 21 2010, 10:12 AM)
So if 4 decoders on at the same time, the disc listen to who ??
*
???

dish receives everything. only you decide which decoder is on which channel

Why? That was an older statement. Does not mean that they are not negotiating to include it at a later stage.

The HD channels will grow with time. When only Astro can answer.

I wonder what they plan to do by taking Astro private?

I'll try to understand that LNB thing, which is still very confuse to me ... sweat.gif
So does it mean if a LNB use splitter to 2/3 decoder, each of the decoder can watch and select different channel at the same time?
I might hear wrongly, someone told me that 1 LNB can only use for 1 decoder, if need another Astro means another dish blink.gif

Ok, I get it. More of build quality. The cable supplied with the decoder is more than capable to send a 12bit Deep Colour signal with no sparklies. With HDMI when it fails, you shd know. Based on my own observations and measurements, there are not differences between the cable provided and the other cables I own. In fact, I have other cables that seem to be better build but do not pass 12bit YCbCr properly.

Serious blink.gif
I thought the made-in-Japan gold-plated HDMI cable which I bought 2 years back is better than the thinner and silver-plated Astro cable ......
But how do we measure whether a particular HDMI is indeed pass-on all the signal & colours correctly ? Need another special equipment ?

Actually I'm very confused over the 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 HDMI version, really cannot differentiate the differences except for the look itself ...... rclxub.gif

There is an entire thread on HDMI cables that would be more relevant. I will look for it and link it.

In short, if u do not see any weird sparklies, audio dropouts, the signal is being sent correctly. Most of the time, the differences are only in build quality.

I swap the 2 cables around but still notice the Byond audio sound rather weak, so I guess it is due to the source rather than cable ?

LNB is link this
If you use normal Astro, you can split it to 2/3 decoder by using splitter. It can be done because SD channel using same frequency. Each decoder can watch any SD channel (still depend on your smart card).
But if 1 of the decoder is Byond, you cannot use like I mention above because HD channel use higher frequency. If you still use that, once Byond decoder watch HD channel, other decoder that use SD channel won't get any signal.
To overcome this, you need a separate connection from Byond decoder & normal decoder to the dish. That's mean you need 2 dish with normal LNB. But if you don't want 2 dish, you can use 1 dish with LNB more than 1 output.
Hope it will clear up
