QUOTE(Qash-M @ Apr 7 2010, 04:12 PM) Astro should have better graphic cards / processors when next decoder (Hopefully better than B.yond) released. Out of curiosity, what do u think is wrong with the ones in the stb now? IIANM Pace uses Broadcom chips for most of the heavy work. They are pretty good.

QUOTE(klseet @ May 21 2010, 10:12 AM) 1 Astro disc can only to 4 decoders, what does that mean? So if 4 decoders on at the same time, the disc listen to who ?? Must the 4 decoders the same type ? I'm very interested to explore further if this is really possible ..... Er, somehow I noticed the one come with Astro not so good quality, I changed to slightly better gold-plated one and does notice some minor improvement. But I'm just wondering, since it is only digital signal transmission, theoretical speaking it shouldn't be any difference, or it is just psychological feel .... What minor improvement did u see? Also what about the Astro supplied cable did you realise was not so good quality?

QUOTE(art6969 @ May 21 2010, 11:08 AM) Why? That was an older statement. Does not mean that they are not negotiating to include it at a later stage. The HD channels will grow with time. When only Astro can answer. I wonder what they plan to do by taking Astro private?

QUOTE(klseet @ May 21 2010, 03:54 PM) I thought I saw some colours improvement, but my wife didn't notice anything ...... May be I should ask my friend to change without telling me ..... The supplied one thin and it does looks "cheap" to me..... » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I'll try to understand that LNB thing, which is still very confuse to me ... So does it mean if a LNB use splitter to 2/3 decoder, each of the decoder can watch and select different channel at the same time? I might hear wrongly, someone told me that 1 LNB can only use for 1 decoder, if need another Astro means another dish Ok, I get it. More of build quality. The cable supplied with the decoder is more than capable to send a 12bit Deep Colour signal with no sparklies. With HDMI when it fails, you shd know. Based on my own observations and measurements, there are not differences between the cable provided and the other cables I own. In fact, I have other cables that seem to be better build but do not pass 12bit YCbCr properly.

QUOTE(klseet @ May 21 2010, 04:18 PM) Serious I thought the made-in-Japan gold-plated HDMI cable which I bought 2 years back is better than the thinner and silver-plated Astro cable ...... But how do we measure whether a particular HDMI is indeed pass-on all the signal & colours correctly ? Need another special equipment ? Actually I'm very confused over the 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 HDMI version, really cannot differentiate the differences except for the look itself ...... There is an entire thread on HDMI cables that would be more relevant. I will look for it and link it. In short, if u do not see any weird sparklies, audio dropouts, the signal is being sent correctly. Most of the time, the differences are only in build quality.
