1. Download and install Nokia PC Suite: http://www.nokia.co.in/get-support-and-sof...nokia-pc-suites
2. Download and install Nokia Maps Loader: http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-so...ad#/nokia-n900/
3. Open the Maps app on your N900 after it loads completely close it
4. Connect your N900 in Mass Storage Mode via the USB cable
5. Run Map Loader App on your PC and load the maps for your country.

You can get fMMS in Extras-devel application catalogue.

i lol'd when i tried this upon typing in the web browser for the very first time.

one of the reviews actually criticised the N900 for not having dedicated number keys,and said that in order to type out numbers, you'd have to constantly press the alt key once, press the number key, press alt key again,rinse and repeat...

it would be different if a user couldnt figure out the fn lock,but a reviewer?

should try iphone the numeric key is in another tab

for numbers there many ways to do it.

For 1 number press blue arrow once
For many numbers press blue arrow twice until it shows FN lock
Or if unconsistence numbers hold blue arrow while pressing the numbers

After waiting for quite sometimes for " Resizing Image, this might take a while" below error msg come out

"Sending Failed
Error: 110 Connection timed out
Please Make sure APN settings are correct "

FYI, size of image is 106kb only..

p/s: Press Ctrl & Shift & O (letter) to get potrait mode for Internet browser

do take note that downloading from extras-devel catalogue has a lot of risk. HEH

Forgot to mention, I've downloaded all the Devel, Extras and already installed both fMMS and fAPN..

Do you mind to share the fAPN step?? I think I might missed out something there especially in Advanced Settings > Proxies area..

and btw, have you entered the correct http proxy and the port ?
i don't know the http proxy and the port number.
but perhaps you could search for that on talk.maemo.org

just follow the guide and change the input for access point name, http proxy, port, and web address.

GPS uses the Global Positioning Satellites to fix your devices location.

A-GPS uses your network operators transmission towers to Assist the satellite signals to fix your devices location.A-GPS is coarse grained typically 100s of meters vs GPS sub Meter.

n900 use both. But if you use GPS, and you have the map information (get from OVI MAPS), you don't need to use the a-GPS and don't need to burn you data plan.

the voice command for navigation is still not support for Malaysia maps. and navigation uses your data plan.

in my experience of buying ap sets, i have never had a problem with any of them over the past god knows how many years. however its still good to get it from a reputable ap company. i guess im lucky coz i get the handphone from my neighbour who owns a handphone shop so any warranties very easy to kau tim.

actually is havent had a problem yet. When it really happen to u den u will regret like hell. Like my fren N97 his chrome area got alot faded colour he send to the AP company until today they tell u no stock only for casing but actually its they dun have

well as i said bro, it really depends on who the ap distributors are. i cant vouch for any good ap distributors but i guess i am lucky as my neighbour is the distributor. i have 1 single problem with a much older phone with its slider and he gladly replaced a new units for me within 2 days. its very open for discussion the whole ap handset thing =/ but the general rule for me is if its like 100-200 bucks difference then i go for zitron but in this case rm480 difference (i bought mine for RM1800) its a huge difference u see

Well it depends in Garmin themselves if they want to develop the app for maemo 5.
At the moment, if u need turn by turn voice navigation, ur best bet iz wait for Ovi Maps in Maemo to be updated to support it...
OR just try Sygic Mobile Maps for Maemo 5...I dunno if they have Malaysian maps though...try checking first at their homepage..where the app was sold
