QUOTE(jloi @ Apr 2 2010, 09:04 PM) Yup, currently MeeGo is only console base (e.g. X-Terminal).It's not for end user, it's for the pros, or those who want a taste of MeeGo, but should know all the steps to flash the device even if the device is bricked (bricked means your phone is dead, you need to recover/reformat and reflash, something like your PC windows crash and cannot start). For us, just wait for PR1.2 QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Apr 2 2010, 08:43 PM) thanks a lot again. GUYS ! THE MORE I TALK, THE MORE IM CONVINCED N900 IS ALMOST FLAWLESS AND UNBEATABLE. If you want to use for 10 years, then you can forget about iPhone. nonetheless, i tink the onli 2 tiny little problem which is: 1.battery(i know its unavoidable cause its powerfulness 2.will there be something like n97 into n97mini? iphone3g into 3gs? its not tat im trying to cari pasal, its just tat im gonna buy this phone and it will be another more or less 10 years b4 i change another phone cause im really saving alot of money to buy a stable phone that can last me a long time =) i dont mind if the phone will not be the best but are there any leak information bout a slighty upgraded version of n900 coming out ? Put on average, the iPhone battery might last you around 1~1.5 years depending on usage, longer if you're lucky. Changing the battery isn't like any other Nokia/Sony Ericson/etc phone, you can't just buy a cheap OEM battery and use... The battery price, I'm not sure, but definitely not less than RM150? Then you have to think about the labour to dismantle your iPhone to replace your battery... As usual, once a device has been dismantle before, problems might start cropping up if the work is not done well. Plus, the LCD itself, if damaged, cost over RM1000 (as read from a blog). Basically for Battery, if you're getting a smartphone, you shouldn't expect the battery to last as long as the non-smart phone, unless it comes with high capacity original battery. The N900 if you really want to save the battery, it can last you up to 3 days most probably, means charging interval of 3 days once. But then, you get this phone is TO ENJOY, why do you worry and try so hard to save the battery and ended up not able to enjoy it? You can charge it everyday, doesn't matter. A typical battery have around 300-500 charge cycles (1 charge cycle = 100% usage, not how many time you charge). Let's say your battery give away after say 1.5 years, with Nokia/Sony Ericson/etc, you can get OEM battery for less than RM50 and it performs up to par with original battery (some claims better). So, why worry about battery? Unless you're using iPhone, then you have to really worry. As for build quality: Is your current phone a Nokia? If yes, then you roughly know the quality of Nokia phones. This is my first AP Nokia phone, but this N900 AP Set is a US Set, made in Korea. Previous forwarded mails have mentioned to avoid certain countries model, not sure how true, but so far the official set I have are all of good quality, and hopefully it will continue... And if you search YouTube for N900 Stress Test, you can find out the N900 has very good build quality, they even did a few drop test, sit on the phone test, water test (horrible). The LCD, N97 have more durable LCD, but probably that's why it's less responsive? Not sure. Nonetheless, it's very heart-breaking to see the fellar torture the N900, why not just give it to me This post has been edited by Andy214: Apr 2 2010, 11:00 PM |

QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Apr 2 2010, 10:00 PM) Since you've never use a smartphone before, it'll be a BIG leap for you. You might have a lot to discover and possible many frustrations because smartphones are like a mini computer, and like a computer, there will be time where it will lag, slow, hang, etc. Unlike a normal phone, which is fast, because it is simple and just does the job. The N900 on the surface is very simple, but it can be a very complicated/sophisticated phone/device depending on the user. If you want a phone that is simple and easy to use, probably iPhone is a good choice as it has been much improved and stable. Or you can go for Symbian devices, like N97/N97 mini, or if you prefer Sony, got for Satio which have much better camera, nice looks, high quality video recording, nice screens, or go for Samsung. Symbian OS I would say is a very easy to use and fast to learn OS, at least for me and several of my friend was able to learn it very quickly. Or if you prefer Android, can check out Motorola Milestone which look very much like the N900, but slimmer. Or if you prefer Sony, the X10... or if you want superb screen, check out the Samsung I9000 with Super AMOLED. The design looks very much like iPhone, it runs on Android and the screen is crazy clear and stunning. Anyway, just to show off the Desktop Concept of Maemo OS, as I've mentioned, the Desktop is not like any other smartphones OS, it's like your Windows Desktop, you can place icons/widgets as you like, customize it. Check out all the different Desktop design from other users depending on their preference and creativity. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=591293#post591293 Oh, finally, and again, although many people says N900 lacks of games/apps, perhaps they forget about Flash app/games, there're easily much much more flash games/apps in the web compared to iPhone app/games. And since N900 support Flash... well, need to say more? Of course, Flash is also coming to other smartphone OS, but iPhone I'm not sure. Oh, and again, I almost forgotten... check out the Qt4.6 demo in YouTube Next time, any app/games develop in Qt4.6 can be install to Symbian, Maemo, Meego, Windows Mobile, etc (except iPhone, not sure about future). Basically, it's like Java Runtime, as long as these OS have Qt.46 libraries, the apps will be supported. So, nothing really to worry about, because future Symbian, Maemo and MeeGo will share most of the apps/games. This post has been edited by Andy214: Apr 2 2010, 11:19 PM |

QUOTE(k-bkeat @ Apr 2 2010, 11:15 PM) My AP Set is US Set. US Set is made in Korea.I'm not sure about EUR set. Even if the set is made in Korea, seems there is a small/minor customization to the EUR set because they have a slower OTA (Over The Air) updates than US set. But there's always Universal Firmware updates through Nokia Software Updater (NSU). |

Hello, it is my first time posting on this version of thread.
The last time I posted was before it came official in Malaysia. That was so long time ago, and you expect it to stay at the same price? I didn't know some of you guys could be so unfriendly. Can't the TS update himself? This post has been edited by fruitie: Apr 2 2010, 11:30 PM |
