if what i hear is correct, there is a newer version to 3700, so that should be the revised version. But i think the main problem is the i5 chipset first gen. It's just too energy consuming and heaty.

My advise is use your dell warranty and buy yourself a Notepal U3. Mine should be arriving anytime soon.

BTW, this might be a newbie question, but does a Vostro 3700 use more energy compared to a 12 inch laptop for instance? ;o). I presume yes, but how can i calculate the difference?

Yesterday one guy from Dell came to my place and fixed the overheat problem, and the fact is there're no new revision of motherboard or heatsink for Vostro 3700. The reason for overheating is that after long period of use, a lot of dusts are stuck inside the heatsink and the vend, hot air has been blocked by dusts and can't go out from the vend, so end up causing the overheating.

He replaced me with a new heatsink and motherboard, now my 3700 runs very cool, no more overheat and shut down when gaming, very happy with it. cala you better call Dell and ask them to service your 3700, if your 3700's heatsink is full of dusts, getting a new laptop cooler won't help.

Open the notebook up, clean the dust and repaste the thermal paste.

After you removed the heatsink, clean the paste on the CPU and GPU die and heatsink. Then you put the new paste on the CPU and GPU die and put back the heatsink.

i bought a vostro 3750 recently. the price was rm2000 with a i7 processor and 8gb of ram (dell refurbished unit with unnoticeable minor dent). everything is so nice except the LCD screen (1600x 900) is really bad..its viewing angle is too narrow and dim. finally i decided to upgrade it to a HannStar HSD173PUW1-A00 (1920x1080). WOW, it is so nice for movies now!

Yea..Dell technician once replaced a new heatsink for my 3700, he need to dissemble almost everything just to replace the heatsink lol..and now my 3700 is overheating again and I've called a technician to replace a new heatsink for me..

Every year need to change one new heatsink..luckily I got 3 years warranty..next time need to clean and apply new thermal paste myself..

Hi guys, a question to ask.
installed a 8GB DDR3-1333mhz RAM on my vostro 3700, it will just auto shut down or restart while the windows is loading. Is it not compatible with vostro 3700?
