if what i hear is correct, there is a newer version to 3700, so that should be the revised version. But i think the main problem is the i5 chipset first gen. It's just too energy consuming and heaty.
My advise is use your dell warranty and buy yourself a Notepal U3. Mine should be arriving anytime soon.
BTW, this might be a newbie question, but does a Vostro 3700 use more energy compared to a 12 inch laptop for instance? ;o). I presume yes, but how can i calculate the difference?
Yesterday one guy from Dell came to my place and fixed the overheat problem, and the fact is there're no new revision of motherboard or heatsink for Vostro 3700. The reason for overheating is that after long period of use, a lot of dusts are stuck inside the heatsink and the vend, hot air has been blocked by dusts and can't go out from the vend, so end up causing the overheating.
He replaced me with a new heatsink and motherboard, now my 3700 runs very cool, no more overheat and shut down when gaming, very happy with it. cala you better call Dell and ask them to service your 3700, if your 3700's heatsink is full of dusts, getting a new laptop cooler won't help.
