Can someone advice what kind of bags can fit the Dell Vostro 3700?

Most bags i see online (SwissGear, Targus, etc) have bags for 17". Is there a standard way of determining 17 inch? I'm wondering if those can fit the Vostro's 17.3".

Notable SwissGear that supports 17"

Notable Targus that supports 17"
http://www.targus.com/uk/product_details.asp?sku=TCB001EU

For instance, can the Everki Swift Light Laptop Backpack (17") fits the Vostro 3700? http://www.everki.com/index.php?/Backpacks...s-up-to-17.html

Do share if you guys are aware of other reasonably recommended bags yah! I've ordered my Vostro 3700 too!

Im using Targus soft hug designed by dell that comes free with it. Pretty okay for me if you are packing for work related, however if you are planning to bring along headphones, it's not advisable.

Also maybe you can check those backpack offered by Deuter, a friend of mine got the one for RM 300 ++, you can fit up to 18"lappy, and its quite spacey.

I see. According to the product description, the Targus softhug supports 17" but seems to have no problem with the Vostro 3700. That's good coz i previously purchased the HP Sport Backpack (support up to 17") which i think was going for a steal in Harvey Norman

RM95... ok la.... |;o)

is it the laptop too big ? so hard to get a bag to fit in?
*
I don't think its too big, but rather, it's a hint of the new things to come. 15.6" & 17" is more seen in Europe. We've been used to 14", but its time for bigger things to come. Embrace 17.3"!

yep .. aside from the HDD sound, its hard to maintain and keep it clean ... the LCD part is solid , but the keyboard part gave me "plastic feeling"
*
The keyboard is a bit of an issue. I'm used to HP Elitebook series, and the Vostro 3700 keyboard in comparison feels 'soft'. Soft because the 'board' is longer, and not as stiff.... it causes you to feel this 'bouncy' feeling which i think is unfortunate. especially for those who likes to type hard and fast.

I thought i bought the Vostro 3700 (Core i5) without backlit keyboard but i was wrong! FN+'->' works!

Also, what's your experience bringing this laptop out of your home without charging it to a wall socket. How long did it last you in real life?

check out lowyat forum. there are people selling these targus bags for a pretty good price. They typically cost much more retail (e.g Harvey Norman).

Glad to know you guys are enjoying the Everki. But be cautious not to tear it, especially on the part where the straps for the shoulder is connected to the whole bag. So you guys should handle it with care especially if its heavy. tongue.gif

any feedback about the everki built? Does it have double stitch to prevent tear?

Goodluck if you guys need more batteries for your Vostro 3700.

BTW, have you guys face problems after you upgrade your Windows 7 Basic to others (e.g. Windows 7 Ultimate)

Blue light even when not connected to the laptop? I think this is normal. Its an indication that the wall plug is powered-on....

Mine still can at least 2hours idle/light works(cz my batteries rarely use so can say at least 80% new).

May be yours used too often and time to change already?

6cells batteries is quite weak but 9cells one is more rare, expensive and bulky.
*
really? that's interesting coz since day one, even if i'm using just documents & some internet, it still works out to about 1hr. Hmm... anyway i can trouble shoot to firm my fears?
The fan is also always on, and the left side of the laptop is always TOO HOT to the touch

I own the Vostro 3700 and its already giving me issues with overheating. Tried playing a 3d based game and the heat of the GPU goes up to 90 celcius within 15min. And thereafter, it just shuts down and goes to sleep automatically.

Its sad. Anyone got solution?

I read online that many had called up to Dell and asked for a motherboard change within the warranty period. Airflow problem with the 1st gen i5.

Open the notebook up, clean the dust and repaste the thermal paste.

Manuals: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/syst...SM/Heatsink.htm

I was taking up tips from this thread and now I'm eyeing the Cooler Master Notepal U3. It looks like a superb solution. The other is the Targus Chillpad, but it only come with 2 fans, so it looks like U3 is still the winner for me.

But which one cools better? A pad with more fans or a pad with one gigantic fan - Notepal X2 (http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6610)

lee_what2004, thanks for the advise on the dusting the fan, but I guess I'm not prepared to open up my laptop yet.. ;o(... afraid butterfingers might mess the motherboard up.
