sigh.... which means when i ordered it, i need reformat it and repartition it. wat for for the free security software (Trend Micro / McAfee)? wat a wasted. s**t
Now I know what your concern is, because when we reformat our C:, the volume serial number will change and you afraid that Trend Micro can't be activated again right?
When I received my unit, the Trend Micro is not activated yet. Until now I did not activate it because my favourite is Norton, not Trend Micro.
I don't know about other units out there. Maybe some other owner can confirm this?
My unit's harddisk (320GB) has 3 partitions by default.
The first one is a Dell Diagnostic partition (40MB) which contains a set of 'TEST' tools to test every component in your laptop. See this link:
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/glo...02EE16785D39C5C.
The second partition is a RECOVERY partition (15GB) which I still don't know what is it and how to make use of it.
The third one is the remaining space (280GB) and is the C:
What I plan to do is to divide the C: partition into half: 140GB each so I will have C: and D:. The allocation of space is based on my own usage pattern. I do software programming, so I need to install Visual Studio, documentations and a lot of other programs.
C: will contains all the Program Files.
D: will contains all my projects, databases, virtual machines and other data files. Basically I don't put my important files into C:
