QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Dec 17 2010, 03:13 PM) I did managed to compare the Samsung C6500 vs the 50X (no U in that shop). I went with the Panny because: 1. I prefer the more natural colors of Panny. Others may prefer the more vivid color of Sammy. 2. I cab pick out more details in dark areas in the Panny. Sammy's dark is just that, dark. But Sammy on SD program (and even some HD) seems sharper. 3. People told me Panny are more reliable. 4. Both are reflective. So basically, it boils down to color preference and reliability. Of course, the RM1K saving had been used to buy a top end media player. A Full HD Plasma without good media player/Bluray is pretty useless IMO Added on December 17, 2010, 3:37 pmDo they get stuck? I thought with nobody touching anything, these things go on forever. so in the end you went with a 50X and not a 50V?

QUOTE(karhoe @ Dec 26 2010, 01:30 AM) Guys, should I spend 4k on a 50inch Plasma or a 42inch LCD from Panasonic? I thought it used to be the case of Plasma HD Ready being the same price of FULL HD LCD but now it seems to be the other way with FULL HD LCD being more expensive than FULL HD Plasma. Added on December 26, 2010, 1:37 amSame dilemma here, the extra 4 inch seems sweet and Plasma is known to have superior black level, so what is so great about the 46inch X series, smaller and not Full HD, why do people consider it against a Full HD plasma? Btw, did some search and it shows that the P50 has 900 moving lines, does this mean that it is not a 'pure' Full HD 1080p ? I will be watching downloaded Full HD movies (22GB per file) on this tv Currently considering P50U the moving line is to show the advantage of the V20K. to justify the premium to an average joe. if i were you i'd get the P50U. no competition compared to the 46X. that is if you have the budget. and about the LCD or plasma, do get the plasma if you're not particularly concerned about non-existent issue

QUOTE(DannyOP @ Dec 27 2010, 08:30 PM) Can't remember the model no. Just go to ground floor at the centerstage where they are having panasonic expo. 50in full hd at rm4399 and 3d version 5999. i went to lowyat yesterday. spent 15 minutes at the fair. didn't see any 3D deals that you were talking about. RM4399 is for the P50U20K. which is selling for below RM3.5k outside. they were playing miami vice if i remember correctly. and true to my memory, the P50U is damn reflective. then sent my wife to IKEA and spent an hour at harvey norman ikano watching P42V20K, P50V20K, P50U20K, PS42C430, PS42C450, PS50C450 and PC50C6500 side by side. just reassuring myself that i made a wise decision to go with the anti-reflection coating. and spent 20 minutes in the demo room hearing the HN salesman talking crap about their Pioneer LX72 with Infinity speakers. they were playing me Ip Man BD china ciplak DVD (whatever that means) that are said to be 90% near BD quality. yeah like i don't have the bd at home.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Dec 28 2010, 10:09 AM) Ignoring the reflectiveness, which of these models have the best picture quality to your eyes? And I would like to hear more about your view on 50U vs 50V. Thanks. all the models are running on different settings. and the samsungs are playing different source compared to the pannys. and i don't have the remote. in which if i were to do a side by sde comparison, i'd asked the salesman to bring me all the remotes and leave me be. which i've already did when i purchased my set. comparing on the different sets running on different settings and sources yesterday, i'd say the best PQ is from the Samsung PS42C430. yeah a series 4 720p 42" Plasma TV. not even the latest model. they were playing some kind of samsung demo BD with Indycar racing on it. so i were to trust my eyes just from the viewing yesterday, i would've said some nice things about the 42" C430 and praised it to heaven. but i knew better. no comparison can be made with the sets not running in the same mode and playing the same source.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Dec 28 2010, 10:41 AM) Talking about bad reflection. The more expensive Sharp's LED have just as bad or even worst reflection. I don't know what was Sharp thinking of when they deliberately put a piece of glass to their LED to improve contrast ratio? QUOTE(spongesponge @ Dec 28 2010, 02:31 PM) how do you guys rate samsung c6500 vs panasonic v20??? i dunno about others, but i rate c6500 below v20

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Dec 28 2010, 03:14 PM) I assume you are talking purely about picture quality. How does the C6500 compares with U50? And did you check out the LG also? have you even read my posts before this? i've already written my opinion in your previous question. i am talking about the features which are important to me. so what i rate may not reflect other people's opinion. things like mkv playback capability of the c6500 means jack to me, and things like the 2 isf pro mode of the v20 means everything. PQ is more or less the same. i've never seen a v20 after calibration so i wouldn't know the exact capability of the v20. and i rate the AR coating above everything else. u20k didn't have it. deal breaker.

QUOTE(karhoe @ Jan 3 2011, 10:44 PM) So not cool, my brand new (less than 48 hours) P50U is not turning on, I get 10 red LED blinks, why? so much for japanese quality if you watch this thread closely you're gonna catch quite a few forumer posting various problem with their set that ultimately required a warranty claim. it's been happening quite frequently even with the venerable v20

QUOTE(PoorMan @ Jan 8 2011, 11:48 PM) Nah. Just grab the GT30 series for infinite black 2 panel. I think the price for next year 2011 will likely drop to around V20 series pricing since Panasonic wants 3D to be more mainstream. Edit: Added the 2 to infinite black. the GT30 is a 3D plasma. with the current pricing that panasonic is implementing for their malaysian set, hard to believe a 3D capable GT30 would come close to the (current) non 3D capable V20. i reckon the current 50" VT20 is selling for how much currently? RM15k? sounds like impossible for another 50" 3D capable set to sell at 1/3 of the current price.

QUOTE(echoesian @ Jan 12 2011, 06:13 PM) It's surprise to see Best Denki can give this price, it's even lower than the average small shops outside.. precisely! if best denki could quote that kind of price, maybe outside shops could quote even lower.

QUOTE(y32kit @ Jan 13 2011, 05:46 PM) Went shopping at Jusco Mid-Valley yesterday & came across the 42" Panny V20k on offer for RM3599! Without hesitation, quickly slide my CC for it. Furthermore got 12 mths interest free installment. I have been waiting for the price of this model to drop since many2 months ago. Got bundled together a Panny Bluray player for RM459 (which has a price tag of RM999). My dream of having a Plasma has finally come true! Yahoooooooo ....err...just a noob question...how many hours do we have to run-in a new TV? Or do we really need to anyway? make sure you check the panel hours. just in case

QUOTE(willkso @ Feb 26 2011, 03:12 AM) Try to PM kevinc66. I believe the price for the 42V20K just dropped recently to RM2699 or below. Look out for his sales thread on the link below. http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1163512can we expect the 50" V20K to be under RM4k since the 42" dropped so much? RM4k is a huge bargain considering as to how much it was selling before this.

This will become total of $3249 wow dropped so much sure heartache for those that paid a premium for the same model a few month back. QUOTE(maxximus @ Mar 2 2011, 11:42 PM) Hi, I also just bought the 50V20K today, but was told that I can only use the USB WiFi adapter from Panasonic, is it true? I was quoted RM299/= for the USB WiFi adapter from Panasonic, but I yet to buy, coz was told that the shop did not carry the USB WiFi adapter and have to buy from Panasonic service center. You mentioned that u bought the Netgear USB WiFi adapter, is that mean it can be use with the 50V20K? If yes, do u mind to share how much is the Netgear USB WiFi adaptor? Btw, beside Netgear, can I use any USB WiFi adapter? Thank you mind sharing how much?
