Added on September 29, 2010, 11:09 amas a matter of fact , i watch the first 45 minutes of the first episode late last night  and did not see any serious panning if at all . strangely , my Tv signal received as 1080p 50hz as differ to yours at 1080i 50hz

could it be that i sit 12ft away although i doubt so
*
Arrrgghhh.......I need to get my eyes checked cry.gif

My distance is much less, maybe 8ft.

I'll watch again, maybe tonight, and post the relevant info fo you to review.

go watch it again and let me know the scenes that are affected with panning that is so serious that you claim are unbearable to your eyes . although i am pretty tired last night but can't remember i needed to close my eyes

BTW , are you using the V20 or other models or was it the IFC thingy
*
Sorry, I posted the wrong info display output. The correct info should be:

Source: 1080/50i
Output: 1080/50p
TV input: 1080/50p

and NOT 1080/60i blush.gif

Yes, I'm using the V20 with IFC turned on. I watched again the Wonders BD and have noted the following timing:

23:55 Cliff greenery scene
51:52 Wood panels on the right scene
1:01:37 Mosque columns scene
1:02:33 Earth scene
1:36:38 Continetal divide scene

Pls take a look at the stated times and observe whether it is agreeable to you. My head spins when I look at them rclxub.gif

i will check mine tonight but pls clarify if all the scenes you mentioned are from the first episode Empire of the Sun.

did you disabled IFC and re-check again . if only certain scenes are affected , i don't think it's the TV fault
*
The scenes are panning scenes which shows motion when the camera pans across stationary landscapes or stationary rotating scenes.

I checked with IFC and non-IFC.

First scene is from first episode.
The rest are from second episode.
The show runs continuously, that's why the time continues into hours:minutes:seconds

IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE ANY PROFESSIONAL CALIBRATION , why don't you try to do a RESET and see if there's any difference . the way you describe , it  sounded like there's a serious problem

anyway , thanks for highlighting the scenes playtime and i will post my observations tonight

" The scenes are panning scenes which shows motion when the camera pans across stationary landscapes or stationary rotating scenes."

did you mean the scenes/objects are moving when they are not suppose to be
*
I mean the camera moves slowly, either lateral/swivel, to take in the scenery or the object.

Usually the camera is stationery and shoots the scene with objects moving in or out of the scene. Or the camera moves with the objects to keep it in the camera view.

Looking forward to your observations.

1080i/50 will have problems. I cannot recall how I reduced the errors. However, it will be there. It will seem like some tearing or juddering at the edges of objects and this is inherent in the V and VT series when it handles 50Hz stuff.

Just have to wait until my system is ready for your tweaking. Hopefully my eyes don't go cuckoo till then. rclxub.gif

i am no expert in movie shooting but i think

scene 23.55 is the work of the cameraman or camera lens . the maker/director of these documantary have intended for these scene to shift in slight circle for the viewer to catch the spectacular waterfalls and rivers which is breathtaking . ofcourse your head will spin a little due to this slight '' special effect " but i don't think it did any harm to me at least . most importantly, i dont observed any juddering or flickering

scene 51.52 is the movement of the camera and the woods panel looks perfectly normal to me . again no juddering or flickering

scene 1:01.37 looks normal as any normal scene would be

lazy to follow through on the rest as i see nothing wrong which warrant user of the V20 to get worry about i mean , at least for me.

i would advise you ask your friends or relatives to check those scene you mentioned

Tks for your feedback.

I'll bring it to the AV showroom and take another look on their system.

I'll post my observations again later.

I tried out all these scenes in the AV showroom. The scenes were super smooth as unlike what was seen on my V20. The details were shown without any breaks or juddering. So I guess it's not my eyes problem or that I have unwarranted higher expectations. There is definitely a problem when the V20 encounters 1080i/p 50Hz signals.

due to panasonic plasma having problem rendering 50Hz signal, why people don't simply return their HDTV and ask for their money back
*
No need to ask them to refund. Just want them to improve and maybe solve this problem by software or hardware. The V20 is good in terms of colour and contrast. But do we have to accept only the pros and keep silent on this problem. Remember, it's a problem and not a con as compared to the pros.

There are not enough complains to Panasonic M'sia, so they just blame it on the source. Correct me if I'm wrong, so far I'm the only to complain to them on this issue.

Most Malaysian consumers always just accept whatever is thrown to them and keep quiet. That's why most suppliers and manufactures treat us like children. This is just my opinion.

Bro, I would have complained in a sec if I really see the problem as you described it. The problem is I don't see it. There are occasional artefacts around the edges of TV while playing 50Hz material. This was pointed out to me by anfieldude, otherwise, I would not even have noticed it.

But nothing of the sort that causes nausea. I can't be complaining about something I don't see or experience.

It's ok, I understand. Looks like it's only my set having this problem.
