have you tried to off or on the IFC (intelligent frame ) in advance setting? According to the manual if there is noise which I do not understand what it meant, to switch this function off.
*
There were recommendations to turn off IFC. But when I turned it off, it gets worse and gives me nausea, just like in playing FPS games.

Panasonic engineer just came to pick-up our 2-month old V20K. only 20+ hours of usage cry.gif

he claimed that ours is the first V20K to have a vertical line (top to bottom) appearing. is this line due to dead pixel?

we also complain about 24p judder and buzzing sound from our unit to him.

hope we can get it back early next week.
*
Wah....you got worse problem than mine, my set don't have buzzing sound or line.

But at least I think these 2 problems can be solved by hardware.

Added on August 6, 2010, 10:05 amI tried to downgrade my Byond to 720p as suggested in US forum, but no improvement and picture quality was unsatisfactory. So now waiting for Panasonic's fedback.

For those interested in the UK and US forums on this defect, I'll post the links here:

Allycat May I know which month  for u V20K production date?
*
Where can I check the production date? If it is behind the TV, it will be very difficult as my V20K is already wall mounted.

it is at the back panel. if you bought it in June , the production should be in april and if recently the production date should be June or July.
*
It was delivered in mid-July. So I guess it must be either Apr or May production.

Blade63,
Mine was the same batch as yours. Do you know the production date? Appreciate your infor if you can still check or remember.

Tks

Added on August 9, 2010, 10:42 amShot off a love email to Panasonic this morning. To their credit, their technician responded within the hour.

But as some forummers expected and warned me, they lay the blame on Byond and the BD palyer settings. Told him, that it couldn't be Byond as I don't see it on my previous LG set. Then he said I've to manipulate the settings on the BD player. I replied that there are no more settings that I can try on the player.

Also told him I'm willing to test it out with them on my old LG set.

I higlighted to him that these problems have been widely discussed in forums, and I've been warned to receive such std replies from Panasonic.

So he quickly cut the discussion short and will contact me again.

Will update again after their next feedback.

Allycat, as stated on the sticker at the back of my TV, it stated JULY/2010. Anyway enjoyed watching those movies downloaded from internet (DVD-SD resolutions) via USB thumbdrive and must say that the contrast and black level is fantastic. cheers
*
Tks, Blade63. So mine will also be July 2010.

I agree the contrast and black level is very good.

An update on the V20 defects.

Yesterday evening, Panasonic sent 2 engineers to check out the set with me. Very friendly guys and we sat down for nearly 2 hrs to check out several scenarios.

First we tried out Byond and my some of my BDs, the motion defects were clearly there.

Then they brought out their BD which show boat races and NZ's Iron Men. Truthfully, their BD show great picutre quality and no motion defects or judder at all.

So after some friendly discussion, it would appear that the problem lies with the sources. As to my question on why they don't appear on my old LG 42-inch, they explained that a full HD 1080p will show up more defects that are usually not noticeable in a 720p set, as there are 50% more pixels in a 1080p set. For a fairer comparison, they said it should be a 1080p vs another 1080p set. Well, since I don't have another 1080p set, we could not not do such comparison.

I higlighted to them the many forum discussions going on. They said that there are bound to be many such complains as there many cable TV sources overseas as compared to only Astro here. So if we were to have more cable Tv souces here, there will be more complains.

Well, with this logical explanation, I can only accept that the motion defects are not with the V20 unless someone else can come up with a better explanation or worse experience.

Also, Panasonic received only 1 such complain ie. me.

All in all, the Panasonic guys were professional in dealing with the motion defects.

I don't see any burnt-in marks although i was watching Astro during the burn-in period. But then I follow all the sifus advice to use Cinema mode withdefault contrast and brightness settings.

Seems P50V20K not really good on handling Astro Byond signal 1080i/50Hz especially on HD content e.g soccer movement as compares to 1080i/60Hz HD content from upscale DVD or Blu-ray concert disc   blush.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  blush.gif

Yeah I gree. I was watching "Wonders of the Solar System" yesterday. The signal was 1080i/60Hz. The panning scenes was so nauseosus that t I wanted to puke.

not so good news for me as my " wonders of the solar system" will arrive this week .

hope only small part of the discs run is affected and could it be it's the source rather than the V20
*
Great, let's exchange news on this issue. Pls post your results after viewing it.

If it's not my eyes problem, then you'll already see what I meant in the very 1st BD chapter "Empire of the Sun".

Are u enabling IFC or is it disabled?
*
I tried both. With IFC, the image is shaper. Without IFC, the image is less sharp. Some but not that much improvement at non-IFC seeting.

In the end, I just turn on the IFC and shut my eyes when the pic is panning a lot.

seems to be a major flaw, anyone complain to panasonic and asking for their money back?

I complained...but only myself according to Panasonic.

So there isn't sufficient consumer power here to demand anyhing.

I observed problems with 50Hz material but not 60Hz.

If you can get hold of this BD, you can see it very clearly. Or you can drop by my place when you are in PJ to see it.

Maybe it's product limitation or maybe it's source rpoblem. Whichever, now closing my eyes is the only way to avoid puking blush.gif

maybe you should provide more info such as the minutes of the episode and at which scene when the over panning occured and could it be your TV setting or even BD player and what about other episodes as well
*
I like to let the reviewer made an initial review without any prejudgement first. If he cannot spot it then maybe it's acceptable to his eyes, and my eyes problem.

There's lots of panning scenes in the first chapter.

If further info is needed for a second review, then I'll give the exact time of the scene.
