Laa.. I thought it was something really big like a home console.. Well, it was a hand-held called Nintendo 3DS. It was the next generation of the DS series where people have dubbed them as DS2. The 3DS will be providing 3D visual effects without the need to wear any special glasses.

Probably just using Sharp's 3D LCD tech.
http://www.pcworld.com/article/117303/shar...3d_monitor.html Nintendo has very strong relationship with Sharp when it comes to LCD for their gaming systems, so it's possible that Ninty just license the tech from Sharp. Think I'll hold off getting the DSi until I see how this 3DS' features. My DSLite still has plenty of life in it. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Mar 25 2010, 10:33 AM |

Heck, even the first 3D Blu ray discs aren't even out yet.Great |

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Mar 26 2010, 02:20 AM) I dun see how 3D Technology will be in Malaysia for some time maybe only 5-6 years later? If you're talking about 3D broadcast, you may be right. But the technology - 3D HDTVs and Blu-ray players - is already out there. Samsung and Panasonic has already launched in the US and it doesn't take a millionaire (just rich people) to bring a set for his/her own use.Heck, even the first 3D Blu ray discs aren't even out yet.Great One 3D BD is already out - Monsters vs Aliens. It is bundled together with Samsung's 3D HDTV+BD systems. It will only be available separately one year from now. QUOTE(RAMChYLD @ Mar 26 2010, 09:57 AM) Sometime June or July.QUOTE(norazwan79 @ Mar 26 2010, 11:29 AM) Correct. The PS3 has enough processing power to create real-time 3D graphics. But the current firmware is not built for 3D. The next firmware will address that.It is doubtful that 360 and Wii will be able to do 3D. fuad |

QUOTE(writesimply @ Mar 26 2010, 12:21 PM) Correct. The PS3 has enough processing power to create real-time 3D graphics. But the current firmware is not built for 3D. The next firmware will address that. It needs a combination of hardware and software. The PS3's HDMI 1.3 spec does support handling 3D TV, but the PS3's current firmware still doesn't know how to format the images for the 3D TV and how to tell the TV that it's going to send 3D signal to make the TV go into 3D mode. The upcoming update will provide the PS3 with the required knowledge of handling a 3D TV.fuad QUOTE(writesimply @ Mar 26 2010, 12:21 PM) Elite 360 maybe can, assuming that HDMI 1.2 is enough for 3D image. Wii definitely cannot, but Nintendo is rumored to be coming up with a updated Wii next year that has HD output. Maybe that one can with a future FW update, assuming it has HDMI port. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Mar 26 2010, 01:08 PM |

QUOTE(prasys @ Mar 17 2010, 05:18 PM) No point , even HD is going slow and now 3D TV. Common , untill HD becomes main stream like its in USA , then we can talk about having 3D TVs ! You have to start somewhere. When Blu-ray Discs launch, critics thought that people won't invest in them because DVD was good enough. Now look at how BD is doing - more floorspace in retail and more TV and print advertising the fact that a movie will be released on BD & DVD.Don't be afraid of 3D HD. It's not going to make your BD collection worthless. QUOTE(lowyard @ Mar 19 2010, 11:22 PM) Here is a link to help your knowledge better about 3DTV: 240Hz or 120Hz per eye is overkill. RealD 3D digital cinema uses 144Hz or 72Hz per eye.http://news.cnet.com/3d-tv-faq/?tag=mncol;mlt_related ... And that's why 240 hertz is required for displaying 3D.. QUOTE Btw, it seemed like HDMI 1.3 is able to handle 3D coz the Sony PlayStation 3 will be having an update to enable support for 3D even though the PS3 is using a HDMI 1.3... So, I don't know why people said that HDMI 1.4 is needed to display 3D.. PS3 won't be able to deliver FullHD 3D. Just 720p since HDMI 1.3a does not have the bandwidth for it. So even when later in the year PS3 gets 3D playback capability for BD movies, it would only be delivered at 720p.To do FullHD 3D, you need HDMI 1.4, which is what Panasonic is doing. QUOTE(Sky.Live @ Mar 20 2010, 03:38 AM) I have been curious how they made HD/3D from very old recordings? Does the earlier recording have been recorded in a future proof formatting? or just remastered via computer advancement.. Old recordings is rather vague. Anything that was shot on NTSC and PAL video cannot be made HD since the resolution is not there. These recordings are upconverted.Anything that was shot and mastered on film (16mm minimum) can be telecined and made into a HD film. So that means all of those old 3D movies from the 50s may get to be seen in 3D by mass audience for the first time via 3D BD. QUOTE(minimize @ Mar 20 2010, 09:42 PM) Can 3D TV produce 2D picture like normal TV? I means it have a option to choose if we just want to watch without using glasses. A 3D video will have a special signal telling the 3D HDTV that it's 3D. A HD video will not have this signal so it would look normal. So far, 3D HDTVs do not convert 2D HD to 3D. And I wouldn't trust the first versions of those to make a great 3D conversion.fuad |

QUOTE(geforce88 @ Mar 26 2010, 01:10 PM) the glasses will be eliminated in 5 yrs time, so now we still gotta rely on the glasses to see the 3d effect... As in the link I provided earlier, Sharp already figured out how to do 3D images without using glasses 5 years ago, it pretty much uses the same theory as the LCD glasses 3DTV, except that now the LCD is on the TV LCD itself as a second layer and that instead of alternating between left and right using 2 LCDs, the technology uses one LCD layer to polarize light to reflect to only left or right eye. Problem is the technology limitation requires that you're facing the screen from a particular angle before it'll work. Otherwise all you'll see is a flat, slightly flickery image. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Mar 26 2010, 01:23 PM |

Yeah, like looking at an alternating cartoon images on a toy. You look at angle A, cartoon eyes closed. Look at angle B, cartoon eyes opened. Get what I mean?
