Well, unless someone starts transmitting 3D TV programming.
Only merit I can think of for this 3DTV is when Sony launch their new PS3 firmware to support such TVs and accompanying Blu-Ray titles. Apart from that, A$$tro isn't even really interested in bringing in new channels for HD, why would they even bother with 3D?

QUOTE(gilbertlhl @ Mar 17 2010, 09:09 AM) agree, nowaday technology pick up very fast.. U sure they're picking up momentum? The CS told me that there will be no further new HD channels (or any channels for that matter) this year when I called in and complain a few days ago...

Probably just using Sharp's 3D LCD tech. http://www.pcworld.com/article/117303/shar...3d_monitor.htmlNintendo has very strong relationship with Sharp when it comes to LCD for their gaming systems, so it's possible that Ninty just license the tech from Sharp. Think I'll hold off getting the DSi until I see how this 3DS' features. My DSLite still has plenty of life in it. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Mar 25 2010, 10:33 AM

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Mar 26 2010, 02:20 AM) I dun see how 3D Technology will be in Malaysia for some time maybe only 5-6 years later? Heck, even the first 3D Blu ray discs aren't even out yet.Great Wait for Sony to introduce 3D TV support into the PS3 firmware. Expected to happen very soon.

QUOTE(writesimply @ Mar 26 2010, 12:21 PM) Correct. The PS3 has enough processing power to create real-time 3D graphics. But the current firmware is not built for 3D. The next firmware will address that. fuad It needs a combination of hardware and software. The PS3's HDMI 1.3 spec does support handling 3D TV, but the PS3's current firmware still doesn't know how to format the images for the 3D TV and how to tell the TV that it's going to send 3D signal to make the TV go into 3D mode. The upcoming update will provide the PS3 with the required knowledge of handling a 3D TV. QUOTE(writesimply @ Mar 26 2010, 12:21 PM) It is doubtful that 360 and Wii will be able to do 3D. Elite 360 maybe can, assuming that HDMI 1.2 is enough for 3D image. Wii definitely cannot, but Nintendo is rumored to be coming up with a updated Wii next year that has HD output. Maybe that one can with a future FW update, assuming it has HDMI port. This post has been edited by RAMChYLD: Mar 26 2010, 01:08 PM

QUOTE(geforce88 @ Mar 26 2010, 01:10 PM) the glasses will be eliminated in 5 yrs time, so now we still gotta rely on the glasses to see the 3d effect... As in the link I provided earlier, Sharp already figured out how to do 3D images without using glasses 5 years ago, it pretty much uses the same theory as the LCD glasses 3DTV, except that now the LCD is on the TV LCD itself as a second layer and that instead of alternating between left and right using 2 LCDs, the technology uses one LCD layer to polarize light to reflect to only left or right eye. Problem is the technology limitation requires that you're facing the screen from a particular angle before it'll work. Otherwise all you'll see is a flat, slightly flickery image.
