U sure they're picking up momentum? The CS told me that there will be no further new HD channels (or any channels for that matter) this year when I called in and complain a few days ago...

The technology behind 3DTV is to display to images, one for each eye, thus creating a stereoscopic image. These TV sets usually support HDMI 1.4 and a minimum (input and output) refresh rate of 120Hz; glasses may be sold separately.

One thing I can never understand thus far is this, last time the 3D movie project double image in two images superimposed to each other, but in different polarity. So if one wear polarised glasses, one eye will see each polarised image, perpendicular to each other in order to hide one image at any one time.

How does 3D LCD works ? I try to read the online info but somehow still cannot understand the technique to 'hide' one image from one eye and vice versa.

Sorry I digress from the topic. But I am very curious.

Nope, not anywhere sooner. That probably gonna take up another project meeting , proposals , channels to upgrade.

Lets see what they have to present for HD channels , then we can discuss about 3D whistling.gif

Here is a link to help your knowledge better about 3DTV:

http://news.cnet.com/3d-tv-faq/?tag=mncol;mlt_related

If you visit sony's website, go and look about their latest TV products. They will explain to you how you will be able to see a frame on your left eye, and another frame on your other eye with the help of the glass..

This is what I know:

Your battery-operated 3D glasses will be synchronized with the TV via bluetooth. What does the glasses do is blocking your left eye by displaying black ink on the left glass, and vice versa. If you couldn't imagine that, have you seen FOSSIL watches with changeable background colors? Basically it's like that. SO, when the black ink is on your left eye, the TV is displaying images for your right eye and vice versa. All of this happens so quickly and you won't notice them just like how you didn't notice the cinema's flashing light behind the films reel.. And that's why 240 hertz is required for displaying 3D.. Btw, it seemed like HDMI 1.3 is able to handle 3D coz the Sony PlayStation 3 will be having an update to enable support for 3D even though the PS3 is using a HDMI 1.3... So, I don't know why people said that HDMI 1.4 is needed to display 3D..

And I guess you know that this glasses will not come with one red glass, and one blue/green glass.. That method we used to watch 3D elements was called anaglyph but it distorts real color of the images.. So this is not the case with this new 3D TV.. Imagine Uncharted 2 or Little Big Planet in 3D.. or maybe Transformers 2 or IronMan 2.. Oh my!! (Incase you didn't know, some TV brand provides a feature for 2D to 3D conversion.. Watch everthing in 3D!)

I have been curious how they made HD/3D from very old recordings? Does the earlier recording have been recorded in a future proof formatting? or just remastered via computer advancement..

When they were filming the movie, they were using a high quality and expensive film reels. I don't even think they were thinking about the possibility of having a high resolution display and getting ready for the future. It just happens that the film enables high quality recording/filming. When they convert the film into digital, they find out that it really fits the current high definition format display resolution of 1920x1080.. FYI, the pictures you have taken with a film a decade ago are able to be converted into Full HD resolution. Regarding 3D conversion, I totally have no idea. Maybe software enhancement.

The best way to enjoy the big screen in your living room is to have a comfortable piece of furniture. The furniture you bring in should be such that it provides comfort and also suits your living room. If you don’t have much money to spend then buy Berkline chairs. They will fulfill your requirement of comfort and style.

Are you talking about 3D Glassless TV or the ones requiring 3D glasses? These are two different technologies

Note that 3D Glassless TV do not require 3D glasses...The screen itself works like a huge pair of glasses laugh.gif

I talking about current 3D TV technology (required 3D glasses).
I think 3D Glassless TV that u means is not available yet and still far for production. If TV can produce 3D image without glasses, maybe it used hologram technology. biggrin.gif

I know it's there but it's not there for us (consumers) so personally I don't prefer to talk about something that is far beyond reach. (Except something that has been announced for surely to come soon like the PS Move). But of course, it's really interesting to think of the freedom and possibilities (but not the price).
