QUOTE(azxel @ Jun 30 2010, 05:06 PM) Hi Pete... Frankly speaking.. I'm not quite certain... I have exactly the setup as you and prior to having air con my bill was about RM80 per month, when I use it about 12-16hrs per day (switch off when nothing downloading on). As you did, with only about 10hrs per day my bill also dropped to RM40++PC (not really HTPC) with AMD Athlon with ATi 4850, 2 internal HDDs and 550Watts Power Supply left on 24/7 got my bill up to RM1XX per month..!! So, I suspect that it's the PC... not sure what else is causing the big jump in electric bill... Currently, with the aircon, it is turned on for about less than 12 hours daily with the temp set at 26degrees... QUOTE(peter32 @ Jun 30 2010, 07:22 PM) No joke. I didn't realise the pc can be that consumptive. I now use atom 330 with 24/7 torrenting and 4-6hrs of air con per night will come to RM60-70. On very warm months (april and may) when i switch air con to 6hrs and 24C, my bill comes to RM80.Anyway, that may prompt me to pursue more on NAS with atom chipset with another PC that can do occasional processing. Ps: my office has 2 pc on from 8am to 9.30pm, along with 2 aircon, one 1hp & 1.5hp, set at around 20-22 degree, my bill comes to about RM300+ a month only. Not the mention about 34 fluorescent lights on in the evening !! Anyway for Dual core setups with ATI4850, the idling consumption is about 200W which roughly translates to 5sen per hour = RM30 per month. If you game it goes to 300W. |

As you did, with only about 10hrs per day my bill also dropped to RM40++ eh.. If it's 5 sen per hour, then it should be about RM36 per month and this is not inclusive of playing games or torrenting and also not inclusive of the power consumption from the processor, hard disk, etc.I now use atom 330 with 24/7 torrenting and 4-6hrs of air con per night will come to RM60-70. Good to know that if my PC is turned off, I can cut my electricity bill by RM40 or so... I think the new Mac Mini I got should doing less than 50 watts |

Hi bros and sis,
My boss is asking about his HTPC prob. He's having Asus EAH4670 GPU and according to him, the picture quality on HDMI is worst than VGA cable. Anyone with the same problem? Is there any solution for this? Thanks... |

QUOTE(ayie296 @ Jul 5 2010, 03:04 AM) hye all i currently buy HTPC intel Atom 330 Based on spec, the atom 330 consumes about 15-20W of power, if in a casing with 70% efficiency and 5W hdd, it'll take up to 30W in nominal conditions.i have question... will it able to play mkv file atlest able to play and dun have lag playing 2. how about power consuming..... if 24/7 how much lectrik bill?? (if piring meter i can do something) now using digital new how dunknow meh... hehehe Cost of electricity for first block is 0.22 /KW/hr and 0.30 /KW/hr, so do the maths. I guess even at 0.30/KWhr so it translates to up to RM9 per month on 24/7. |
