There's this question actually I wanted to ask ever since I am lurking in this thread. Sifus please enlighten me m(_ _)m
QUOTE Compatible with GP SystemAutomatic race data calculator, Grand Prix System The GP System lets you know what position a machine is in during the race. Attaching a transmitter to every Mini 4WD will make it possible to record each machine's place, lap-time, and best lap-time within 1/100 of a second. Even in the most heated of races, correct information can be displayed. The Liberty Emperor GPA is compatible with the Grand Prix System, so attach that transmitter and get ready for the new generation of Mini 4WD racing action! *Photo features Big Bang Ghost GPA Got my answer, thanks for looking! *asked this because I have a Beat magnum GPA collecting dust. Hahaha... I am fine TQ Gabz. You too ya...
Lolhalol, perhaps the useful info can collect from the past threads 1st? I think the easiest way just post the links in the blog which its' titles are more directly and appropriately...? (I mean the links can be from any websites) Examples: Anything about gears can put under 1 title, we all can work together to collect info oso wat. If nid me in drawing something which use for detail matter, fine to me oso... Ofcoz, use Ms Paint only yo... =D |

Erm, well, I emphasize on viper's post. Actually I'm also not sure whether the RM 33 axle ball bearings will improve the car.
Yes, indeed, ball bearings do make things smoother and less frictional force in between, but the weight is certainly heavier as they are made of aluminium. Metal is anyhow heavier than plastic, so if we use the original plastic ones, the weight is lighter but less smooth compared to the ball bearings. So based on your opinion, which is better? Thanks guys. |

Thanks guys. although i love chopping chassis and lightening cars. there is also the weight / performance (speed) factor. u might be lighter with the plastic ones but u would can go faster with the ball bearings. then again, from what i have learned from all the sifus especially david , u can buy the all the best parts, but if ur car cant suit the track the most expensive parts also wont win u the race or get the best time. the car always suit the track not the track suit the car. example, the plastic ones can be used to control the speed of the car for maybe a super technical track . long story short, there is no best part or parts. just what parts suit the track . Wow, there are so many replies on your post, lolholol...so I better send my post separately from yours so that people can see clearly la ^^
I understood what you mean, but sorry to say, I think you didn't get my point. What I mean is: using plastic = light =) but rough =( using ball bearings = heavy =( but smooth =) so in the end, are both the same? in terms of speed, isn't there any differences? thanks for you reply anyway... But in term of speed, bearing increase ur speed possibly around 30%.... So if i do 10 sec, u nid do 13sec wif plastic bearing. QUOTE(david tamiya @ Mar 16 2010, 11:05 PM) thanx for the compliment Remembering the days.practice makes perfect 1 wind 5 to 10 rotor a day and when racing 3 wheel new coil and commutator every run for ultimate performance yo reggie we play pool when got chance need to play with champ here Really missed the 3 wheelers day. Spent less time build the car and most of the time spending on "balut" the motor with new coil. At that time My motor setting was: -0.8mm/0.9mm cooper coil(get it from electronic shop, the one from 9 product are not fast enough). -Super strong magnet. -Multiple layer of motor brush. -Triple-plated terminals is a must. |

Hi guys, I know those High Grade carbons are made of carbon.
Then what are the materials that made up those FRP plates? |

Or even stacking will lead to bending after running on the track for a period of time? Well, another funny question I'm interested is do you guys experience any damage on your High Grade Carbon (only for those who use High Grade Carbon)? Because I actually plan to purchase the High Grade Carbon but since its price tag is much higher than those RM 11 FRP, I would like to know whether it lasts long or not. Thanks for your answers and knowledgeable replies. Regards, Beans. the glue is not just "stick"... but effect of reinforce and protect the frp...the proper step to use a frp is:
1. new from packing 2. glue the frp surface which explore(non laminated area) to the air. 3.ready to use... but normally i am lazy to do that...hahaha... This post has been edited by szngszng: Mar 17 2010, 07:31 PM |

guys since forum so quiet today.. discussion time.. what are your methods for reducing friction in the gear box area. I drilled out the plastic shaft of the green gear. i drilled all the way until got 1mm left . so only 1mm of plastic contact the bearing shaft.
what are your methods? |

QUOTE(choycp @ Mar 23 2010, 05:16 PM) i prefer to use unmodded gears rather than lightened, drilled, skimmed gears. not to say those mods are not good but everything has its pros and cons. i believe that the gearbox is one of the key places to maximize the speed of the motor especially when on alkaline. Less friction = longer lasting initial boost from alkalines. i think it also helps with the top speed. Can reach the top speed faster and may increase top speed a little too. as whatever force that is lost to friction before the mod is now channeled into the tires more. i believe that u can counter the cons of standard gears by having a decent motor and smooth ball bearings. but what u said is very true. everything has its pros and cons. |

if u have a decent motor and smooth ball bearings, why not have a modded gears also?
i'm not so lucky to get a reeaaallly gooood motor, just ok la. so, modding gear is quite useful actually. |

QUOTE(-=conselfa=- @ Mar 23 2010, 05:44 PM) if u have a decent motor and smooth ball bearings, why not have a modded gears also? me and u in the same boat. only have "decent" hdpros and 1'fast' ldpro . so have to resort to other ways to maximise the potential of the motor. i really saw the diff of the gears when i was at TU last sat testing with ldpro coz dun wan to kil my hdpro. i can say that with and without gear mod there is a diff. the ldpro can catch up and at times faster than hdpro especially on long runs on the track. especially on long straights too. can notice the ldpro pick up a bit faster than hdpro without mod. but this results are not 100% accurate as i was using other cars that were rempiting to compare.i'm not so lucky to get a reeaaallly gooood motor, just ok la. so, modding gear is quite useful actually. now my theory is , if got good hdpro, + low friction gear box + new hex hole = very very fast and max speed longer lasting on alkalines also. . just need a speed track to test this theory. especially the battery part. Added on March 23, 2010, 4:58 pm QUOTE(-=conselfa=- @ Mar 23 2010, 05:34 PM) hmm..kena pancing sezeng post pic gear to kt forum nih.. i agree with choy, u have to see it inperson. very nicely done mod.c'mon sezeng ! dare to post it? if not, i'll see it myself at t.u la jap lagi.. hehe This post has been edited by lolhalol: Mar 23 2010, 04:58 PM |

i know one way to modify a gear.
fluorine coated shafts and ball bearings. now for the interesting part, u will need grease, lubricating oil and rc cleaner spray. 1. mix grease and lubricating oil. 2. put mixture in a small container. 3. put gear in small container and shake mixture. 4. take ball bearing and spray with cleaner spray. 5. take the gear and put ball bearing and fluorine shaft. done u have a modded gear. |

i have to say i agree with choy.. i think modding gear is too time consuming as u nd to do it vy precisely to maximise de output.. if ur nt a patient guy, dun do it.. u'll end up ruining de gears..
nway, i prefer unmodded gears too but mayb try to station de gears properly to avoid any movements side ways.. just my 1 cent.. cheers.. |

Never Try, Never Know ________________________________________________________ i know but people say they want smooth gear this is what they should do if they want to do it. ur friends car went faster was probably due to the gears being cleaned by the cleaner . oiling/greasing is for maintainance. and not necessary if ur gear is already 'break in'. reducing friction and smoother gear is 2 different things . if ur car oily, will pick up alot of dust and dirt of the track. and also will leave oil on the track. oil car also not nice to handle. hand get oily. and at Tu no toilet near by to wash hand.. sorry i very malas one.. modded gearbox really can bring some effect, it can improve the speed, smoothness, but you need do a lot not only the gear... the full chassis need to mod...and a lot of fine tune ... really suffer...
but it's not really suit for long race... when it come across some errors... it's so hard to find a way to solve in short time... unmod gear is easy to use, and it's constant and stable~it's will not have big problem and able to use it in "lasak" way... sonic, can post to share... nowdays, diy motors are not practiced among racers. we normally service, clean motors to maintain its performance. |

Bkn setakat zebra, badak pun aku nak bawak balik... Walaupun jauh berjalan, Tamiya Mini 4WD tetap dihatiku... (ayat poyo jer nih) Sini ade jugak kedai Toys / Tamiya, tapi lebih kepada R/C, Mini 4WD xde... So aku tunjuk kereta bunga tu kat owner kedai & dia terkejut tengok Mini 4WD... Someone's got big ideas but cant go anywhere unless it's within the rules and regulations. Don't advertise, sell, distribute,or give promotion for any non-tamiya products in this forum section. Please take note, any more defiance will lead to barred entry to tamiya underground and blacklisted from entering any tamiya. A photo of the culprit will be posted at the door of tamiya underground.

He teach me how to do it. thanks reggie. assemble it is easy but to open it is bit hard.. I just browse through the net found this clip bit interesting. How to make this kind of suspension? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEH6BRhFY3A&NR=1
