i read somewhere that it's a feature of legend that if u pick up the phone when it rings, the ring tone will soften itself.
*
Yes there is such a feature but I have it disabled. Anyway, it's fairly obvious if you listen to the ringtone that the 'softening' is different from the 'quiet on pickup' feature.

Does anyone mind testing their Legend out a bit? I really need some help here...

Call yourself about 5 times and each time, let the ringer ring a while. Try to listen if the volume goes lower on its own...

Would really appreciate it if someone could do that for me.. Thanks.

Does anyone find the Legend's battery life is a lil disappointing? I practically have to charge it daily. I've turned my widget update frequency to every 6 hours (from hourly previously). No significant improvement sad.gif

And has anyone got any turn-by-turn GPS software on their Legend yet?

Added on April 14, 2010, 10:26 pm

I have had similar problem. I've had "Quiet on Pickup" option checked by the way.

Ringtone sometimes quiet downs when it is untouched or the volume doesn't go down when pickup.

Urrrggghh!
*
Hmm. I strongly believe this is a software bug. There are a few other people with the same problem over at XDA forums. Let's hope this gets fixed soon cuz it's really annoying -.-
Perhaps the 'quiet on pickup' is faulty...

Oh well.. I guess this is normal for brand new phones. Even the Desire has its own share of problems (eg. Pink Hue Screen).

hey can u guys try ur phone and see pleaseee.....
when ppl sms u whether u set ur phone to sound mode or vibration mode, ur phone doesnt vibrate?

is it just my phone or is it a bug in the software thankss....

i need u guys who own htc legend help...
*
I already tested with my Legend. I always get vibration when I receive SMS. I tried both normal and vibrate-only mode.

I think this is another software bug cuz u're not the only one with this problem. A few people on XDA forums have this problem as well. Perhaps you should wait and see if the next update fixes the problem. If it still doesnt vibrate after update, then maybe u'll hv to RMA. Anyway, don't worry about it cuz we get 2 years warranty with the Legend =D

works without doing any additional steps?

64-bit.
Nope, no additional steps. I copied the Sync file from the included MicroSD and installed it. Already synced my contacts a couple of times.

Hey guys.

Whoever is having the 'ring volume problem' posted a while back please try this solution. It worked for me =)

Go to Settings -> Wireless & Network -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode -> Select 'WCDMA only'

*Credit to Partenov of XDA-Developers Forum

If 3G reception is the catalyst for this bug, that would explain why not all Legend users are affected by it.

Question: Does anyone know if using this option will affect signal reception?

Before consulting the forums, I actually thought I was experiencing a hardware malfunction/defect. I went back to the seller in Digital Mall Sect 14 and tried to show him my 'ring volume' problem. After countless times of calling my phone with the seller's phone, the problem still did not occur. Really pissed me off cuz I drove all the way there for nothing.

Now everything kinda makes sense. Naturally, a place like Digital Mall would have pretty good 3G reception(unlike my house), and hence my phone (which was on 'WCDMA & GSM auto' mode) would be receiving 3G signals and therefore causing it to NOT have the ring volume problem.

AFAIK, this is cause all 3G capable phones are programmed to first look for 3G reception first and use GSM only in the absence of the former.

I guess I'll have to wait til a new update rolls out since I'm not always in places that has a 3G signals...

just got my phone this afternoon....still exploring. got a few questions as below:

1. how to disable vibration when we type something using the keyboard?
2. i cant seem to connect to my house wifi router. i've set the router security to WPA/WPA2 and WEP, and both settings, i cant connect using legend.....status going from obtaining ip address to unsuccessful. any idea what's wrong?
3. how to display clock automatically when the screen goes off? currently i have to manually select Desk Clock
4. how to change the timing for screen lock? seems to be very fast....
*
1. Disable 'haptic feedback' in settings. Should be under 'Sounds and Display'.
2. Try resetting your router. See if that helps. Happens to me once in a while but it's not the phone, it's the router cuz it happens to laptops too once in a while.
3. No way of doing this as far as I know.
4. This option is also in the 'Sounds and Display' menu. Change the screen timeout to the desired time.

Thanks for the link.
Do we have to uninstall the old one or will this install over the previous version?

usually, it'll just replace to the current one..
So, no need to uninstall ...
I tried the apk file frm the xda link but it didnt install over the old version. Instead, i had two maps apps on my list. Uninstalled the new one to avoid confusion since i dont reqlly use maps anyway.

Here's a link to the Modded HTC Keyboard. Awesome stuff =)

For those that don't already have Voice Search 2.1, you're gonna need it to get the Speech-to-text feature of this keyboard to work.

Too Complicated d... lol... Appreciate if got someone "chinook"  whistling.gif  can actually simplify it....  thumbup.gif

Yea, sure =)

Steps for installing HTC IME Mod Keyboard.
1) Download the .apk file of Voice Search 2.1.
2) Transfer to sd card and install using Astro or any other file manager.
3) Download the .apk file of the HTC IME ModKeyboard. (For Legend users, download Low Resolution version)
4) Transfer to sd card and install using Astro or any other file manager.
5) Go to settings --> Language and Keyboard --> 'tick' the box next to HTC_IME mod.
6) Go to any app where you can type or use my example: Press Search button(magnifying glass hardware button), and touch and hold the 'Quick Search Box' until a popup appears. Select 'input method'.
7) Select HTC_IME mod.
8) Enjoy.

Do tweak the settings a little bit to your liking =)

Anybody got this issue about the stock browser just quitting while browsing? It's not a force close. It just disappears and the home screen is shown. For me so far happens most often at the Star's website.

Now using Dolphin Browser (non-HD version) as it allows cache to SD.
*
Stock browser does that once in a while for me too. I think it's nothing more than a harmless bug.

It seems like i'm having this random reboots on my HTC Legend sad.gif

Not sure what causes this. It happens quite frequently, almost on daily basis even when the phone is idle in my pocket.

Does anyone have similar issue?
*
I think you should E-mail HTC and get their input. Random restarts aren't normal at all. As far as I know, it happens to some Nexus Ones and it's a warranty-able problem.

Yep, I have all my contacts sync'ed to my Gmail account too. But I love to see photos in my phonebook rather than a gray silhouette tongue.gif Hence, if it is able to pull photos from the Facebook like the current 'People' app now does would be great.

Regarding LWP - Yeah, it serves no real purpose other than being an eye candy biggrin.gif

Yep, we shall look for stock ROM. Can you please post the link up here if you manage to find it? Ditto to myself.

I'm still downloading the over 200mb of 'required files' for rooting. Not sure what is it, don't think it is mentioned in the guide, but its even larger than the custom ROM itself at 129mb LOL.

Oh btw, I don't have a card reader! Is that really necessary? Crap sad.gif
*
I'm not sure if this is the ROM you guys are looking for but here it is anyway.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649565

Good luck rooting =)

I'll try it once I see a feature in the custom ROMs that I want. Hehe.
