can i touch the phone while it is syncing?sms-ing or anything like that?since after i press anything,the sync in progress thing wont be on the phone screen anymore..

Is it better to just use itunes to upgrade firmware and the jailbreak.

Or better to use DFU restore mode to basically "format" the phone and restore back from itunes backup? Then jailbreak.

Will the second method actually remove lots of unwanted files? Cause I think my phone got lots of unwanted files as I have installed and deleted quite a lot of apps on this phone.


I actually already upgraded using first method and found redundant files like my old themes folder and cydia installations files. Cause after I upgraded and jailbreak, all themes and new cydia apps will be installed into different folder.

Jailbreaking software : BlackRa1n RC3

Problem Encountered : white apple keep appearing

Steps Taken So Far : Problem started when I try re jb thru spirit.com, I've done reboot after reboot, nothing happens..

then i realise, i didnt restore & upgrade to 3.1.3 version b4 jb using spirit.com.

Now when i3gs connected itunes not detect the ip at all.

@wla, Enter DFU mode then restore clean 3.1.3 then after that rejailbreak with spirit, do let us know if this things work, it is state that when want to jailbreak using spirit we need to do clean restore if the phone have been jailbreak using blackrain.

and also try to use other use port and also restart your pc. hopefully it should work by then.

it will take time for the iphone to reach malaysia.. even ipad still not available in malaysia yet.
unless you bought straight away from US..

But last year Malaysia got the 3gs quite fast right?

erm, for my unit from optus (australia), i was already on my 5th monthly instalment payment, when maxis finally launched the 3GS.

else why would you think so many LYN have requested from me (and other peeps from australia) to carry them home?

Not so sure if this is the appropriate thread to ask.

Well, i try to do a symlink (symbolic link) that link all my files into a main central folder. For example, I am using Quick Office Connect + Print App.

So, if i create a Words Doc, it will save the doc in the Quick Office App folder. If i want to print the doc, the doc must exist in the Print App folder.

I try create a central folder and do a symlink for this 2 apps refer to a common folder. The symlink creation success and when i click on the links (using iFile) it did route me to the new directory (centralize directory).

Unfortunately, when i open my Quick Office app, the app no longer function as it said cant find my work directory (my symlink is there, but not detected).

Upon further checking, I suspect is the directory ownership problem as the original folder in the Quick Office app's ownership is "phone" while my new symlink ownership in the folder is "root"

Anyone have experience in centralize their apps in a centralize folder?

-You go turn it on and you gets to the apple logo,
-then you press the power and home button to it shuts down, but keep holding both buttons to it comes to the apple logo again.

-Then you let go of the power button but keep holding the home button until you get the itunes logo and a usb cabel.

i'v tried few times it doesn't work, but this part - while holding home button about 10 second waiting the itunes and a usb cabel appear,it doesnt appear but what i do, i connect the usb to iP and pc (still holding the home button) open itunes and walllahhh the itunes logo and a usb cabel appear at the screen iphone - and itunes show restore button..

I've just got my iphone last Sat with Maxis, have been playing with it, however there are some applications that I have downloaded, when I wanted to try them, it just hang and bring me back to the main page? Is this normal as some apps are not that stable? One of the apps that give me this prob is "Bernama news"

Might due to untick app in itunes. You have to tick the app in Application tab before pressing sync.

I have an Iphone 3gs, AT&T locked.... 3.1.3, 5.12.1 baseband... any solution yet?? Dev team confirm the will only released unlock on OS 4??
