The iPhone 3G and 3GS, both share the physical appearance and it could be difficult to differentiate them at a glance. However here are a few tips to identify them:

1. The 3GS has a built in compass whilst the 3G doesn't.


2. The backcase of the 3GS has a reflective silver text (to match the silver Apple logo) whist the 3G bears a grey text.


3. The 3GS is significantly faster and more responsive in terms of data processing

4. The 3GS has the ability to record video (and you can e-mail, send it via MMS, and upload directly to youtube and MobileMe) whilst the 3G can't.


5. The 3GS has a much better camera (3MP) and it has automatic focus, white balance and exposure as well.

if yours is indeed an australian unit, you actually have an option of unlocking (legally) and no need of the jailbreaking maneuver anymore.

just try to find out, which network it was originally locked to (optus, virgin, telstra, vodafone et cetera?)

geez, telstra? touch luck.

telstra has the most expensive unlocking fee in australia; AUD150 if i'm not wrong.

vodafone is AUD50.

try checking out telstra's website for the exact procedure and price.

unlocking can be done remotely.

i have read someone in the oz forum, who did his unlocking from thailand

erm the iPod typically ignores the word 'The' (no pun intended)

same with acronym or abbreviation i suppose, where they will leave out the 'The' , 'in' and 'A' et cetera

if the video source is from youtube, just go to http://zamzar.com/ and convert it to the iPhone accepted format.

i'm no jailbreaking expert (self inflicted)

but given such circumstances, reviving your iPhone back should be most imperative.

restore the iPhone to its original state (no custom firmware et cetera) via iTunes first.

be careful not to choose the firmware which might upgrade your baseband et cetera.

can iTunes detect your iPhone first and foremost?

what is the manufacturer/brand of the car kit, first and foremost?

erm not really.

your iPhone has to be jailbroken (and hence the SHH or any equivalent method)

1. save all your contacts to outlook (if you are using windows) first. and then from then transfer to nexus one. i'm very sure most major phone manufacturers, now will support outlook

2. if you wanna export the message to nexus one, unlikely. however if you just wanna back it up, you have two options; jailbreak and retrieve the file OR install this software (cannot remember the name. so you have to google this up) which will subsequently extract the messages out.

reset network settings should do the trick

you are not the only one unfortunately.

a few digi users have also came up with such a problem.

no viable solution yet, as far as i can see.

you will need to contact maxis and ask them to allow data in.
